Hallandale boys, girls win state track As Hallandale High’s football team went through a first spring scrimmage last Saturday, the talk from many of those who came out to watch this impressive and talented program make another run at a post season appearance, was not about football. It centered around Coach John Battle’s track teams. Last weekend, the Chargers – and the Lady Chargers did the unthinkable. Both boys and girls teams earned team championships Friday night in the Class 2A meet at the University of North Florida’s track complex in Jacksonville. What has been building over the years, this program has been making noise when it comes to track and field – thanks in part to the Hallandale Beach Police Athletic League program which has been churning out topflight athletes for years. The state title for the boys is the second. The Chargers won a Class 3A championship in 2006.
