LIVING OUR PURPOSE WITH STRENGTH AND HEART Dear Suncoast Credit Union Members, In 2020, a year that presented challenges on a global scale, living our mission with purpose became our guiding light. Despite many obstacles, our team reached new heights of perseverance and worked hard to show our care and concern for your financial needs as well as our employees, and communities. Our board of directors, senior staff, and entire Suncoast team is gratified to have been with you through this time of need. With the pandemic, social unrest, and economic uncertainty impacting our members, we worked to be helpful, fulfilling our mission to serve, even as the world around us shifted. Thankfully, even with the unprecedented times, we remain in a strong financial position. With a net income of $94 million, we were able to return that value back to our members during a time when so many were in need. We recognized the impact of the pandemic and have been diligent to adapt and offer services that helped members manage through their hardships. From providing extensions on loans and waiving fees, to offering credit increases and lifeline loans, our team understood the need to ease the financial burden our members faced.

It was also imperative to keep our members and employees safe. We adapted to evolving government regulations and health recommendations from the CDC to ensure that safety was the top priority at our branches and in our offices. Within the time frame of approximately one week, we were able to mobilize a significant amount of our back office workforce to continue serving members remotely without interruption, in order to adhere to social distancing guidelines to help mitigate the gathering of large groups.

employees into different roles to meet the unique needs caused by the pandemic. During the period of time we were required to close branch lobbies, we continued to serve members through drive-thru interactive teller technology as well as our Member Care Center and digital banking services. Our goal was to provide seamless assistance for our members and our Suncoast teammates. While Suncoast employees went above and beyond for our members, our leadership worked to make life manageable for employees. From offering flexible scheduling for those who had childcare issues or other family responsibilities, including school-aged children attending school remotely, the Board strived to address work-life balance considerations and made mental health resources available to cope with added concerns. Additionally, our Board of Directors unanimously approved support for local COVID-19 relief efforts, donating more than $1.5 million to assist with hunger, education, health, and mental health initiatives. These efforts combine to be perhaps some of our most meaningful mementos, derived from being able to help members and their communities who experienced serious distress, in a time of desperate need. Our Suncoast employee team continued our tradition of volunteering for causes that reflect our interests and concerns in our communities. SAFEGUARDING SUNCOAST CREDIT UNION’S ASSETS The credit union operates under the laws of the United States of America and is a state chartered financial institution, which is regulated by the Office of Financial Regulation (OFR) for the State of Florida. Deposits are insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an agency of the federal government. Examiners of both the OFR and NCUA make periodic examinations to ensure proper operation of the credit union. The credit union’s Board of Directors appoints a Supervisory Committee responsible for safeguarding the credit union’s assets and protecting the interests of the members. In this capacity, we are pleased to present the 2020 annual report.
Dr. Robert Jones Chairman
The committee engaged the certified public accounting firm of Moss Adams LLP to perform an independent audit. In the opinion of the auditors, the credit union’s complete set of financial statements, which are not presented in the report, present fairly, in all material respects, the financial position of the credit union as of December 31, 2020 and the results of its operations and its cash flows for the year ended. Furthermore, the committee meets monthly and reviews the work performed by the Internal Audit Department in financial and operational areas of the credit union. Based on the above activities, it is the unanimous opinion of the Supervisory Committee that Suncoast Credit Union is financially solid and is being operated safely and soundly.

“People are struggling through no fault of their own and because of the support of our Board of Directors, Suncoast is committed to doing what we can to address these serious needs.” -Kevin Johnson, President and CEO
The needs of our members are always a priority at Suncoast. So as the pandemic caused changes in the way we live our everyday lives, our team made sure we had resources available to meet their financial needs and make their lives easier during the complications of 2020.
PROVIDING RELIEF FOR MEMBERS As members faced financial hardships during the pandemic, we were committed to helping them through it. Special services included: • Loan extensions were offered to members challenged with making payments • Lifeline loan of up to $4,000 for members in need of emergency funds due to COVID-19 • Waived fees for non-Suncoast Credit Union ATMs, overdrafts, courtesy pay, and returned checks to help members save money • Credit card skip-a-payment options with no minimum payment due to lessen the burden on members in need • Mortgage payment extensions to help delay due dates
MEETING NEEDS OF OUR
MEMBERS
HELPING SMALL BUSINESS SURVIVE THE PANDEMIC Small businesses are the heartbeat of our local communities. As the pandemic put pressure on local businesses, some of our business members were at risk of losing what they worked so hard to build. Our business services team was at the ready to help members navigate through the complexities of the Paycheck Protection Program from the federal government, also known as the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. We were able to serve over 2,000 business members as part of this program.
11
PROTECTING MEMBERS FROM FRAUD AND SCAMS With the increased frequency of online shopping, growing health concerns and increased isolation from family and friends, there was an increased risk for becoming a victim of cybercrime and fraud in 2020. To help our members stay safe, security-related content addressing issues ranging from scams to identity protection was prominently featured on our digital and branch communication channels.
BA N KI N G I N YOUR H A N D Digital banking has been increasingly important, allowing members to bank anytime, from anywhere. Our digital banking options have always offered convenient banking options, and we enhanced our offerings even more in 2020. We streamlined our online application so that new members could open an account in minutes. For existing members, we added a simple way to add new accounts to their memberships using our digital channels. In just a few minutes, members can add new checking, savings, or money market accounts without leaving home.
H OM E EQ UITY With so many members quarantining at home last year, it was a busy time for home improvement projects. As members adapted to their new way of living, some needed more from their homes while others were faced with unexpected expenses. To help, for a limited time we offered a discounted interest rate on home equity loans. Members were able to tap into their homes’ equity to access the funds needed for improvements or to cover necessary expenses for emergencies or other needs.
GETTING AWAY As the pandemic made air travel more difficult, people were looking for ways to spend time in nature and enjoy the outdoors with their loved ones. Whether members wanted a camping escape in an RV, to hit the road on a motorcycle, or enjoy the serenity of the sea in a watercraft, for a limited time we offered discounted interest rates to fund their purchase and offer a peaceful way to get away from it all.
LEARNING FROM HOME
HELPING MEMBERS THEIR WA Y
With so many employers and schools transitioning to virtual options in 2020, having the right technology at home became increasingly important. We offered a special, low interest rate on our technology loans so that members could get the equipment they needed without the financial stress.
Even with all of the challenges that 2020 brought, our members still needed to continue with some of their important life moments. Members Title Agency, Suncoast Realty Solutions, and Suncoast Trust and Investment Services responded to this by offering members the ability to use services their way, such as drive-up options for closing and title services, virtual open houses for home sales, and online video meetings and webinars for financial and retirement planning needs.
Our technology loans meant members wouldn’t have to use high interest rate credit cards to make their purchases. So whether they were working from home, teaching their children, or staying connected to loved ones, our technology loans fulfilled their needs without breaking the bank.

GIVING BACK IS PART OF SUNCOAST’S DNA Giving back is part of Suncoast’s DNA. During 2020, we had to shift some of the ways we delivered value to our communities, but our commitment to making a difference was more important than ever. Beyond our usual grants, scholarships, and event support, we also offered additional funding to support the increased needs our communities faced during the pandemic. Offering Virtual Internships and Financial Literacy Programs The Youth Outreach Team hosted its first ever virtual internship in 2020 with thirteen students from the Academy of Finance program. Interns were divided into four teams and given creative freedom to develop a strategy to improve their communities. This project challenged our students to use their combined talents and life experiences to create a presentation to share with our team and senior staff. These impact challenges targeted hunger, transportation, wellness and financial literacy issues. A strong financial foundation can help people reach their life goals and overcome obstacles. Suncoast is proud to offer free financial literacy programs for all life stages. During the pandemic, we enhanced our financial literacy offerings to go virtual to help keep everyone safe. We continued to provide our EverFi financial literacy program, giving students and families access to these programs at home. For elementary school students, this e-learning program introduces concepts like savings and how to make responsible financial decisions. For high school students, the program incorporates financial concepts that young adults need to know, like budgeting and saving for college. Almost 5,000 students completed more than 13,200 hours of learning with EverFi. We also introduced new financial literacy offerings through our Suncoast website to engage members and nonmembers on financial literacy topics in an interactive digital setting. In total, our Youth Outreach Team participated in more than 100 outreach and educational events, impacting 8,765 students. Suncoast also partnered with Moneywise Florida, a statewide public education initiative designed to provide practical financial advice to Floridians. As a lead sponsor, Suncoast helped provide resources and financial literacy material, including help with financial topics related to the pandemic.

VIRTUAL VOLUNTEERING
STUDENT RUN BRANCHES
HELPING PAY FOR COLLEGE
Volunteering and participating in community events is a proud tradition for Suncoast. So when local events and volunteer efforts had to shift due to COVID-19, we were still there to provide support. Suncoast employees safely volunteered for more than 12,000 hours in 2020.
Our 28 Student Run Branches help teach K-8 and high school students age-appropriate methods for saving money. Overall, students saved more than $94K through this program and made more than 3,900 deposits into student savings accounts. Our Student Run Branches also helped encourage students to start saving, with 170 new student accounts opened.
Helping future generations achieve their education goals is something that Suncoast is proud to do each year. The Suncoast Credit Union Foundation partnered with the Consortium of Florida Education Foundations to award $116,000 in student scholarships for graduates of the Class of 2020. Scholarships were awarded to 58 high school seniors who demonstrated financial need and strong academic performance.
Many community events were held virtually this year, including the Great American Teach-In. Forty Suncoast employees participated in the 2020 Great American Teach-In at 13 schools, impacting more than 957 students across Hillsborough County.
STAYING CONNECTED SHOWING LOVE Loved ones are the comfort we turn to during difficult times. During the pandemic, hospital patients often could not have visitors due to enhanced safety protocols. As part of our COVID-19 donations, we provided funds that allowed Tampa General Hospital and Lee Memorial Hospital to purchase iPads to help hospitalized patients stay in touch with their loved ones. The iPads had a special impact in the neo-natal intensive care unit. COVID protocols meant new parents were unable to physically visit their premature babies, so the iPads provided a chance for parents to virtually connect with their babies. We know that not being able to hold their babies close was incredibly hard on new parents. These iPads were a lifeline to one of life’s greatest gifts, the chance to bond with a newborn. Giving families access to their children’s precious first moments is a gift that will be treasured in their memories for the rest of their lives.
PENNIES ADD UP Every time a member uses their Suncoast credit or debit card, we donate two cents to the Suncoast Credit Union Foundation. In 2020, those donations added up to more than $3.69 million to benefit children in the communities we serve.

OUR ENTIRE SUNCOAST TEAM REMAINED RESILIENT in the face of adversity and adapted to the unique environment that 2020 brought to us. For our leadership team, it was essential to make sure that the health and well-being of our employees was a top priority as they worked so hard to take care of our members.
2020
SHOWING POSITIVITY
PROVIDING WORK/ LIFE BALANCE
Even though 2020 was a complicated year, our annual employee engagement survey came back with incredibly positive results. We care deeply about our employees, so we love seeing our team remain content and engaged, even during difficult circumstances.
As the pandemic began last year, families faced new challenges with temporary school closures and remote learning bringing many children home during the work day. Some families had multiple family members working remote or had older parents at home with them during the pandemic. Suncoast’s leadership team understood that our employees needed to ensure the safety of their families first and foremost, so we worked with our team to find solutions so that employees could continue to work with changes in their home environment.
We’re also proud to have once again be selected as a Top Place to Work in 2020 by the Tampa Bay Times, a Top Most Generous Workplace by the United Way, and a Corporate Philanthropy Finalist by the Tampa Bay Business Journal.
TAKING CARE OF OUR
EMPLOYEES
19
CREATING SAFE WORK SPACES Our first focus when the pandemic began was making sure that our employees on the front line were safe at work. In our branches and our offices, we put measures and protections in place so employees could remain socially distanced while they worked. All of our Suncoast locations followed CDC guidelines for cleanliness. Our employees followed safety protocols to ensure that our team could work and our members could bank with peace of mind.
ADAPTING TO REMOTE WORK Another adjustment we made to face the realities of the pandemic was to move some of our workforce to a remote work setup. Our technology team was able to accomplish this in less than a week, allowing us to continue to focus on member needs the entire time. As an essential business, we remained open throughout the pandemic and maintained business continuity so that our members could continue to get the financial services they rely on. Remote work options made it easier for employees in back office roles to practice social distancing and fulfill their duties while remaining connected through technology.
HELPING OUR EMPLOYEES
Suncoast is a family. So if one of us is in need, we come together to help. In 2020, we were able to provide our employees with additional temporary benefits, including emergency sick-leave and/or “borrowed” paid time off options for team members impacted by COVID-19. We also offered an appreciation bonus to all employees as part of our annual Sharing in Suncoast Success program, providing an extra financial boost to thank them for giving it their all every day during the pandemic. One of the most exciting new ways that we helped employees in need was by opening the Suncoast Resource Center. Its mission is to leverage the power and generosity of our Suncoast family to provide resources to fellow team members in need.
One of the most exciting new ways that we helped employees in need was by opening the Suncoast Resource Center.
TAKING CARE OF OUR
EMPLOYEES
We do this by providing free access to a pantry with food, baby supplies, and other resources to any team member in need of these items. There are also financial education opportunities and other resources available, depending on the employee’s specific needs. All of the items in the pantry are donated by Suncoast employees. We’re proud to work in such a supportive and caring environment.

FOSTERING A DIVERSE AND EQUITABLE CULTURE At Suncoast, we value our differences. It is the collective differences in our experiences, backgrounds and perspectives that serve as the foundation and inspiration to ensure everything that we do is with our members and employees in mind. As a minority majority workplace, Suncoast has always placed importance on providing equitable support and opportunities to all of our members and employees. In 2020, we took these efforts further with a formalized plan for diversity, equity, and inclusion. Our plan includes a new diversity leadership position in the credit union, the formation of employee resource groups, and other initiatives to purposefully weave the spectrum of our differences together.

2020 HAS BEEN A YEAR LIKE NO OTHER IN SUNCOAST CREDIT UNION’S HISTORY, as we worked through the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on our members, staff and the communities we serve. Suncoast reacted quickly to maintain access and services for our members throughout the pandemic by using our many delivery channels including our Interactive Teller Machines (ITMs), ATMs, mobile and online services, while taking every precaution to protect the health and well-being of our members and staff. Despite these sudden changes to our business environment, Suncoast Credit Union’s financial health remains very strong, with 2020 ending with impressive results: transfers to reserves of $94 million, asset growth of $1.8 billion and over $5 billion in loans originated during 2020. The main contributors to this high level of performance were Suncoast’s low loan rates, which followed the Federal Reserve’s rate drop in 2020, coupled with the robust real estate market. Although the pandemic affected the businesses and jobs of many of our members, we were able to help them purchase new homes, refinance current homes or purchase automobiles, creating double digit growth in our 2020 loan portfolio which was similar to growth in 2019. Additionally, Suncoast assisted more than 2,000 small business members by providing access to the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans established by the CARES Act. We also experienced extraordinarily high, double digit deposit balance growth throughout the year as a result of the government stimulus payments received by our members. The strength and resilience of Suncoast Credit Union was integral in navigating the difficult and ever evolving conditions presented during 2020. The pandemic required a pivot from the accelerated growth planned to counterbalance the impact of new regulatory and compliance requirements due to reaching $10 billion in assets and to ensure availability of resources to provide the necessary member assistance during the pandemic and economic fallout.
