Our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are led by passionate volunteers who want to connect, learn, and effect change alongside likeminded colleagues. Their dedication in 2023, exemplifies Suncoast’s core values of community, collaboration, and support. We are excited to see their success, as they continue to positively shape our organization and uplift those we serve. Here are some of their notable moments from 2023:
- Members of B.L.A.C.C. participated in and volunteered in various events, like Martin Luther King Jr. parade and gala, Tampa Organization of Black Affairs scholarship luncheon, and UNCF Walk for Education. They even created a Juneteenth Jubilee to give employees the chance to learn about the ERG, meet some of the leadership team, and see how to get involved. Plus, B.L.A.C.C. hosted a Black Business Expo to showcase local Black-owned businesses.
LGBTQ+ & Allies - In 2023, our LGBTQ+ & Allies ERG renewed our commitment to Equality Florida, a non-profit fighting for diversity and LGBTQ rights. They participated in several local Pride parades and events, including hosting a CU Pride webinar. LGBTQ+ & Allies also hosted a game night that raised funds and awareness for the Trevor Project and created bags for Zebra Youth, a non-profit that provides housing and support services for homeless LGBTQ+ youth.
Suncoast’s Alliance for Leadership and Unification of Troops and Employees (S.A.L.U.T.E.) - S.A.L.U.T.E. held true to their mission to improve the quality of life for our military, civilian and veteran members, their families, and our employees in 2023. They participated in 25 events, like Nourish the Service, Hillsborough Community College Presidential Showcase, and Operation Standdown. Team members participated in the national cemetery flag placement for Memorial Day, built and donated kits for the Department of Veterans Affairs & Red Cross, and spearheaded a Toys for Tots campaign.
Fostering, Advancing, and Celebrating Empowerment (F.A.C.E.) - In 2023, our newest ERG, F.A.C.E. launched. The group’s mission is to create an environment where we can celebrate our unique contributions, invest in each other, and build a foundation for women to thrive. In their first year, they’ve had guest speakers attend meetings and created personalized stockings for Our Mother’s Home in Fort Myers.
