Imagine receiving treatment for a complex medical condition without the need for large incisions, extended hospital stays, or prolonged recovery times. This is the promise of Interventional Radiology (IR) , a rapidly evolving specialty that is quietly revolutionizing healthcare in our community.
At MIC Imaging & Procedure Center , patients have access to high-quality, affordable screening, diagnostic, and minimally invasive procedural services. These are delivered by a trusted team of board-certified and fellowship-trained local radiologists —including Dr. Chad Eicher, a leader in the field of Interventional Radiology.
Meet Dr. Chad Eicher: A Pioneer in Minimally Invasive Care
A key figure in our region’s IR advancement, Dr. Chad Eicher has been a valued member of Radiology Consultants since 2010. Known for his expertise in interventional oncology and embolization techniques , Dr. Eicher brings a high level of skill, compassion, and innovation to every procedure he performs.
Dr. Eicher is dual board-certified in both Interventional Radiology and Diagnostic Radiology and holds active medical licenses in Nebraska and Iowa . His work focuses on precise, image-guided treatments for conditions such as cancer, uterine fibroids, prostate enlargement, joint pain, varicose veins, spinal fractures, and more.
“In Interventional Radiology, we strive to achieve the best possible outcomes while disrupting our patients’ lives as little as possible,” says Dr. Eicher.
“We want people to get back to their lives quickly after a procedure they probably never wanted to have in the first place.”
So, what is Interventional Radiology?
At its core, IR uses real-time imaging—like ultrasounds, CT scans, and fluoroscopy—to guide small instruments through the body to diagnose or treat medical conditions. Instead of large surgical incisions, normally coming with lengthy recovery times, procedures often require only a small puncture, allowing physicians to reach areas of concern with precision.
What You Can Expect from Interventional Radiology
Less Pain, Faster Recovery: Because
procedures use small incisions, patients typically experience less pain and often return home the same day or after a short hospital stay.
Lower Risk: With smaller entry points and precise targeting, IR procedures generally result in fewer complications, less bleeding, and lower infection risk.
Cost-Effective Care: Minimally invasive treatments often reduce overall healthcare costs, providing high-quality care while reducing financial burdens.
Targeted Treatment: IR allows physicians to focus treatment directly on the affected area while preserving surrounding healthy tissue, which is valuable in cancer treatments and vascular procedures.
“The procedures we perform use cutting edge technology that allows us to see inside the human body and reach places that otherwise would require much more invasive means,” says Dr Eicher.
“We can precisely target the areas causing the medical issues and treat those issues in the least invasive way possible.”
Before your procedure, your interventional radiology team will carefully review your medical history and images to plan the safest, most effective treatment for you. Most IR procedures use local anesthesia with light sedation, keeping you comfortable while avoiding the risks of general anesthesia.
Whether it’s managing cancer, reducing chronic pain, or treating vascular disease, IR provides solutions that prioritize patient well-being with the latest technology and a human touch.
“As Interventional Radiologists, we work every day to improve the lives of those we have the privilege to treat. We do so in the least invasive way possible while using the latest advances in technology and techniques,” Dr Eicher explains.
“We hope you never need us, but if you do please know we will always do everything we can to provide you with the best outcome and in the least invasive way possible.”
A new national memorial to honor America’s fallen warriors is taking shape in the heart of the Midwest.
“I’m not going to wait 10 years for a memorial to be built,” said retired U.S. Marine Corps Colonel John Folsom, executive director of Dunham House. “It’s going to be built now, and it’s going to be built here at Dunham House.” Folsom laid out plans to construct a permanent national memorial honoring the more than 6,500 U.S. service members who were killed in action or died of wounds in named operations between October 2001 and August 26, 2021, including Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom and other missions connected to the post-9/11 wars. The memorial will be constructed using Sunset Granite quarried in South Dakota, with each name individually engraved into the stone.
“It’s fitting that the names are etched into granite,” Folsom said.
“Granite is formed under intense heat and pressure, which makes it strong and resilient. It is emblematic of our nature as a people, and especially those who swear to defend our country against all enemies, foreign and domestic.”
When completed, the memorial—with estimated cost of $2.5 million and fundraising already underway—will sit at the front entrance of Dunham House, the nation’s first long-term residential facility built specifically for combat-wounded veterans who have suffered catastrophic wounds, such as multiple amputations and traumatic brain injuries (TBIs). To learn more, donate to the memorial, or support the mission of Dunham House, visit dunhamhouse.org.

Voice & Data Systems, a leading managed technology services provider, is encouraging business owners to prepare now for the upcoming end-of-life for Windows 10. Small to mid-sized businesses that utilize Windows 10 to support their infrastructure will be affected by this on October 14, and businesses without a plan will be compromised.
Starting on that date, Microsoft will officially discontinue all support for the operating system, meaning no more security updates, no feature enhancements and no technical support.
“This is where a proactive technology provider like Voice & Data Systems is invaluable,” said Steve Sawtell, President at Voice & Data Systems. “We manage our customers’ technology 24/7 and help them plan for obsolescence, so they are always secure, supported and productive. This helps avoid large capital expenditures and maintains productivity across teams and systems. If your current provider hasn’t already started talking to you about a Windows 10 transition, that’s a red flag.”

Property taxes remain out of control and neither the Governor nor the State Legislature has a plan to relieve the growing tax burden on Nebraska families, retirees, farmers and ranchers. When the Governor called for a special session last year to fix the problem, the State Legislature responded by eliminating the 2023 property tax credit. This essentially raised everyone’s property taxes instead of lowering them. It’s clear: the system isn’t working. But EPIC Option 2.0 is the solution.
EPIC Option 2.0 will eliminate the property tax, personal and corporate income taxes and the inheritance tax by amending the Nebraska State Constitution through a ballot initiative. In 1966, the people of Nebraska changed the tax code through a successful ballot initiative. We’re ready to do it again in 2026.
The EPIC Option 2.0 ballot initiative will provide the State Legislature with a variety of options, including sales taxes, excise taxes and consumption taxes. Each of these taxes will be available as a means of taxation, including any combination thereof. Our ballot language is simple, straightforward and easy to understand.
We are launching the EPIC Option 2.0 ballot initiative today to collect signatures to place it on the 2026 general election ballot. For more information, visit epicoption.info.

Applications are now open for Nebraska’s Innovation Fund Prototype Grant, which provides up to $150,000 in matching funds to help early-stage companies develop and test new products. However, reduced funding may shorten the program’s availability this year.
The Prototype Grant is a key initiative of the Nebraska Department of Economic Development, designed to boost innovation by reimbursing up to 66% of eligible product development costs. The program has helped startups bring products to market without the need for earlystage debt or equity dilution.
This year, the number of available grants could decrease following a $3.7 million reduction to the Business Innovation Act, which funds the Prototype Grant along with several other entrepreneurship programs. The act’s budget dropped from $14.7 million to just over $11 million for the current fiscal year, which began July 1.
The grant is administered by Invest Nebraska, a nonprofit that supports high-growth startups statewide.

The funding will support innovative, high-tech solutions to improve mental health outcomes and care experiences for children and teens across Nebraska and the region.
The Behavioral Health & Wellness Center, slated to open in January, will provide a full continuum of care to improve physical and mental health and wellbeing to ensure youth and families can access the care and immediate support they need, regardless of the level of crisis they are experiencing.
As part of the Center’s continuum of care, funding from the James M. Cox Foundation will bring together Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) therapeutics, therapeutic gaming and ondemand, in-room sensory controls into an innovative care model to support patients’ emotions, coping and resilience.
“This visionary investment will provide meaningful support and empowerment to countless youth in crisis, when they need it most,” said Chanda Chacón, MPH, FACHE, president and CEO of Children’s Nebraska. “This is more than innovation. It’s a bold transformation of what pediatric behavioral health can look like when compassion, science and technology come together.

Brianna Anderson
OMAHA FASHION WEEK
Brianna Anderson is the marketing director at Omaha Event Group and Omaha Fashion Week.
Tell us a little about your business. - Omaha Event Group is an event conglomerate that currently has four spaces in Omaha for events. The original venue is the Omaha Design Center, which is home to Omaha Fashion Week, the nation’s fourth-largest fashion show. It is an honor to be up there with some of the greatest staples of fashion in America. One thing I love about Omaha Fashion Week and Omaha Event Group is the ability to throw a really great party. We bring people together from all walks of life and all across the nation to celebrate fashion in a space where people are welcoming, social and expressive of their personal passions and style. There is nothing quite like Omaha’s fashion and arts community. If you haven’t ever experienced Omaha Fashion Week, come check us out on August 20 to 23 and say hi!
How did you get started in the business? - I attended college at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, studying fashion communications. I interned with Omaha Fashion Week and fell in love with the shows and their mission. After graduation, I was hired as an assistant and have worked my way up in the company, finding my passion in marketing. I now oversee all marketing for the Omaha Event Group’s venues and events under Brook Hudson.
What has been your most important achievement professionally? - Working at Omaha Fashion Week, from a college internship to a full-time position, has been empowering and has grown and shaped me into adulthood. The biggest achievement from my experiences so far is the ability to feel empowered in making my own decisions. In events, there are always moments of high stress where your decision will have a lot of impact. Having the autonomy to make decisions and follow through with them has given me the confidence both personally and professionally to trust myself and make change where it is needed.
Tell us a little about your family. - I recently had a sweet baby boy, who just turned one! He is truly my purpose and the light of my life.
Who inspires you? - Women! All of the women that I have encountered through my workplace have shown me the characteristics of grace, fortitude, leadership and strength. Working alongside so many female business owners has shown me the potential that I did not originally see in myself. As I have grown, I have continued to take notes on their poise and decisiveness as they navigate leadership with grace.
If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? - Kind. I think one of the most important things we can do as people is treat others kindly and make their lives better for having interacted with you. I always hope that others have a positive interaction or relationship with me and that in some way, I was able to go out of my way for them to make their day.
What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why? - Omaha is full of so many organizations that improve the arts and culture landscape. It is truly the best city I’ve lived in in terms of having an arts scene. Some organizations that I love are Omaha Performing Arts, Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, The Union for Contemporary Art, Culxr House and KANEKO. I have a sweet dog that I adopted from the Nebraska Humane Society six years ago, so that organization is close to my heart.

Marian Weaver ELLIE MENTAL HEALTH
Marian Weaver is the president of Ellie Mental Health - La Vista.
Tell us a little about your business (in your own words). - Ellie Mental Health – La Vista is a locally owned and operated outpatient mental health clinic and substance use counseling clinic. We opened our doors in October 2024 and have a team of licensed mental health therapists and substance use counselors to serve our community. Our mission is to provide creative solutions that make mental health care accessible in every community which has led us to accept Medicaid, Medicare and Tricare, along with private insurances.
How did you get started in the business? - I began my professional career as a graduate of Creighton University in 1988 with a degree in occupational therapy. I have always had a passion for helping others attain the highest quality of life and function. Throughout my career as an occupational therapist, I was forever bothered by the fact that I may have been able to help my patients and clients restore, compensate or adapt to make physical function possible upon returning home, but if they were struggling with a mental health related issue, they still could not fully “function,” and their quality of life was limited. An opportunity arose for me to become a business owner and bring Ellie Mental Health to Nebraska, and I have jumped in with both feet! Good mental health is a missing piece for many people to live their best lives. Ellie Mental Health is on a mission to break the stigma and reinforce that mental health care is just as important as physical health care.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? My greatest professional challenge throughout my career as an occupational therapist is the driving force behind my passion to bring Ellie Mental Health – La Vista to Nebraska. This challenge included the limitations faced when helping some clients attain “Quality of Life.” I was able to help restore them back to physical functionality with their activities of daily living, a goal of all occupational therapists, but mental health challenges were a common theme, even when physical health resumed function. I came to my own conclusion that mental health is the even bigger piece in healing and recovery. I witnessed patients and clients with extremely limited physical function who considered their quality of life to be outstanding because their mental health was in a good place. On the other hand, if mental health was not in a good place, quality of life continued to be limited even when physical functionality returned.
Tell us a little about your family. - I have been married for 37 years, have three adult children, two daughters-in-law and four grandchildren, and they are all my treasures.
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life?
- One of the biggest turning points in my life is a personal one. Our third child was only given a 15% chance of survival at 20 weeks gestation. Life is precious, fragile, and every life matters and needs to be valued. My desire is for all of our clients to feel that value.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? - Anything outdoors! I enjoy spending time with the people I love and basking in the beauty of God’s creation.
Who inspires you? - I am inspired by those I witness who face so many challenges and sufferings, and they overcome. Their strength and faith make them role models for me.

Macey Wahl is the Editor at Strictly Business.
Tell us a little about your business. - I work for Strictly Business magazine as an editor! I graduated from the University of NebraskaLincoln this past May with a Bachelor’s in Journalism and Mass Communications. I graduated having no clue what I actually wanted to do, but knew I had motivation to do whatever came my way. For Strictly Business, I write a LOTTTT of content, send emails and chat with clients over the phone. I was an intern for about a month here, and then got promoted! I work closely with our art director, Tea, the president of Strictly Business, Paige, and the two interns, Mikala and Haylee. I am highly motivated to build genuine relationships with clients and produce high quality work that promotes the wonderful businesses Lincoln and Omaha has to offer.
How did you get started in the business? - I started looking for jobs before I graduated, and one day, I got a message over Indeed requesting that I apply to be a content writer. I was in the office within a week, writing my first story. I always loved writing and had a good eye for details. It was terrifying in the best way. Paige gave me little direction and wanted to see what I could do on my own. I started writing, and I guess they liked it, because I was promoted quickly. Tell us a little about your family. - My mom’s name is Sandy; she is a respiratory therapist with Nebraska Medicine and works with cystic fibrosis patients. My dad’s name is Brian; he is retired (lucky duck!) but worked for OPPD for his whole career designing power lines. My parents are the most important people in my life, getting me through so many struggles and giving me all the love and support a girl could ask for. I am also lucky enough to have an awesome older brother named Caleb. He works for a subcontractor and will be helping to manage and coordinate the Omaha Eppley Airfield project.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? - I hang out with my best friends. I’ve been best friends with them for over a decade, and we all have a beautiful house in Lincoln.
What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? - I’ve been painting and doing my nails myself for over ten years. It is one of my biggest passions. Whenever people would see my nails at the restaurant, they would ask where I get them done. Then we would have the routine conversation of why I am serving and bartending when I could be potentially be making more by doing people’s nails. But, I refuse to monetize and potentially ruin my relationship with this hobby. It is my ultimate form of stress relief, shows my artistic process and progress over the years and serves as a huge form of personal expression. I will not be doing it for money. EVER. Oh, I also have a pet rabbit named Milo. He is a netherland dwarf, weighing in at a whopping two pounds; he is full of energy, love and a little rage.
What is your favorite local Lincoln restaurant? - Zipline Tap & Grill. I work there as a server and bartender, so I might be biased, but they’ve got killer IPAs, the highest quality Old Fashioned in town, great food and some of the best restaurant staff I have met (we all truly love our jobs there and love and care for one another). I have been so blessed to work with all these people and see Zipline Tap & Grill evolve over the almost two years we have been open. The President of Zipline, Mark Lawson is a wonderful man who I am proud to be working under.
If our readers would like to contact you, how should they do so? - You can contact me at editor@strictlybusinessomaha.com for press needs, or stop by Zipline Tap & Grill and I’ll make you the best Old Fashioned you’ve ever had!
Thom Kastrup BBB
Thom Kastrup is the Senior Vice President at The Better Business Bureau of the Midwest Plains.
Tell us a little about your business (in your own words). - The Better Business Bureau of the Midwest Plains is a nonprofit organization committed to advancing trust in the marketplace. For consumers, we are a trusted resource for researching businesses, filing complaints, spotting scams and reading verified reviews of Accredited Businesses — helping consumers make confident, informed decisions. For businesses, BBB Accreditation builds credibility and sets Accredited Businesses apart in a competitive market.
How did you get started in the business? - Someone I previously worked with mentioned an opening they thought I might be interested in. I was immediately intrigued — the organization’s mission resonated with me and aligned perfectly with my passion for helping small businesses thrive while also protecting and empowering consumers.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? - During the financial crisis of 2008, I oversaw advertising at the Omaha World-Herald. It was a challenging time — businesses were struggling as consumer spending sharply declined, and many local companies had limited access to funding through traditional sources. However painful that period was, it taught me a valuable lesson about the importance of being a true partner to businesses — making decisions that support long-term relationships and sustainability, rather than focusing solely on short-term gains.
What has been your most important achievement professionally? - I truly value the relationships I’ve maintained with coworkers from the various roles and locations I’ve been fortunate to work in throughout my career.
Tell us a little about your family. - I’ve been married to my wife, Stephanie, for 34 years. She’s a dedicated principal in Bellevue. Our oldest daughter, Katherine, lives in Denver with her husband, Charles, and works as a therapist supporting high school students. Our youngest daughter, Elizabeth, lives in Omaha and is currently finishing her degree. We also share our home with two cats, Louis and Ruby, who keep things entertaining.
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? - Choosing to attend the University of Nebraska, accepting my first job at The Kansas City Star, and — most importantly — the day I met my wife, Stephanie.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? - In my free time, I enjoy reading, staying lightly engaged with work and appreciating a great meal.
Who inspires you? - I admire anyone who is willing to make personal sacrifices for causes they’re passionate about. Especially in these divisive times, it takes courage and conviction to stand up for what you believe in and work toward positive change — and there are many doing just that.
What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? - “A leader takes people where they want to go. A great leader takes people where they don’t necessarily want to go, but ought to be.” -Rosalynn Carter
If you had a theme song, what would it be? - High Hopes by Bruce Springsteen.
If you could have a super power, what would it be? - The ability to help all people to see, with clarity and completeness, the good they’re truly capable of and to recognize their full potential to make a meaningful impact.

While at UNL, she interned with exceptional faculty members and immersed herself in both studio and real-world projects that set the foundation for her versatile, multidisciplinary approach. “Design lets me bridge emotion, identity, and purpose, and that’s what keeps me inspired every day,” Tea said.

With the busy summer in full swing, the American Red Cross asks donors to celebrate by making a blood or platelet donation appointment to help power the blood supply through the dog days of summer. While all blood types are needed, donors with type O blood are most urgently needed.
Making and keeping donation appointments now is critical to ensuring blood products are available for all patients, including those in trauma situations that may require several lifesaving transfusions, in the weeks to come. Type O negative blood is often reached for in emergencies when there isn’t time to match a patient’s blood type. Type O positive is the most common blood type, so it’s important to keep type O blood and all blood types on hand at hospitals for people facing both chronic illness and sudden, life-threatening conditions.
How To Donate Blood:
Simply download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit RedCrossBlood.org, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or enable the Blood Donor Skill on any Alexa Echo device to make an appointment or for more information. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible.
Blood and platelet donors can save time at their next donation by using RapidPass® to complete their pre-donation reading and health history questionnaire online, on the day of their donation, before arriving at the blood drive.

For more than 40 years, the Nebraska Sports Council (NSC) has championed wellness and physical activity across the state. While the Cornhusker State Games (CSG) may be its most recognized event, the organization’s commitment to promoting health doesn’t end in July. NSC supports Nebraskans year-round through inclusive programs for all ages and fitness levels.
Following the 2025 CSG, which brought thousands of athletes together in celebration of sports, NSC continues to engage the community through initiatives like the WellPower Movement. This statewide program motivates participants to stay active and mindful each day, with seasonal challenges and team options for families, schools, and businesses.
Youth fitness takes center stage each fall with the Pumpkin Run in Lincoln, one of the nation’s largest youth fun runs, set for Sunday, September 28. The event introduces thousands of kids to the joy of movement and the power of community celebration.
The Lincoln and Omaha Corporate Games, running August through October, bring wellness into the workplace, with companies engaging in friendly competition to boost morale and teamwork. Newer events like NetFest Volleyball and Pickleball, set for October 18–19, expand opportunities for recreational athletes.
Also on the calendar is the Heartland Havoc Wrestling Tournament, November 8–9, featuring individual and dual tournaments for youth competitors.

North Omaha Music and Arts (NOMA), a nonprofit now in its fourth year, is working to make a lasting impact on the North 24th Street corridor.
Executive Director Dana Murray is wellacquainted with how powerful the arts can be for today’s youth. He’s eager to restore the rich jazz history of the community with a venue focused on attracting top talent from the jazz industry.
The NOMA initiative is multi-faceted and took a big step forward earlier this year with a ribbon-cutting ceremony debuting new learning labs and a makeover of the popular performance venue.
“The NOMA team has put forth considerable effort and resources to make this next step possible,” said Murray. “Our new learning labs feature specialized learning spaces equipped with instruments to allow for more personalized practice, instruction, collaboration and peer learning. Our upscale performance space offers the look and feel of a true jazz venue. This is yet another step NOMA is taking in revitalizing the North 24th Street corridor.”
Another key component of NOMA is its annual NOMAFEST, which will take place this year at Turner Park on Friday, Aug. 9, and at NOMA on Saturday, Aug. 10. The Friday concert will be free to the public. The NOMAFEST planning committee is currently seeking donations to help make this free event possible. The larger venue also means more volunteers are required.

Vision Maker Media’s (VMM) mission is empowering and engaging Native people to share stories while envisioning a world changed and healed by understanding Native stories and the public conversations they generate. VMM educational programs include the Native American Film Series and iNative Shorts for Kids, which spark dialogue and deepen awareness of Native life and culture.
On August 11, the Native American Film Series at the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center features Navajo Math Circles. The documentary illustrates the power of the theme for August: Leaders of Tomorrow, telling the story of some of the country’s most accomplished mathematicians and math educators who collaborate and connect with the children and teachers in the underserved, largely rural Navajo educational system. Utilizing math as a universal language, the film inspires cross-cultural understanding. The educators use an approach called “math circles,” emphasizing student-centered learning by putting children in charge of exploring mathematics to solve problems.
For free tickets, visit theross.org
VMM’s iNative Shorts for Kids is a series on VMM’s YouTube channel, featuring short, curated videos from VMM’s extensive film archive, also focusing on the theme, Leaders of Tomorrow. Frankie the Hawk is the host and brings Indigenous knowledge directly to learners ages 6-12. Each video during August introduces young viewers to Native communities where Native youth mathematicians and civic leaders are making a difference in their lives and the lives of others.

As Omaha looks to strengthen its economy and retain homegrown talent, one initiative stands out as a catalyst: Step-Up Omaha. By connecting youth to early career opportunities, StepUp invests in the next generation while helping secure a strong, local workforce.
Since 2008, Step-Up Omaha has supported more than 9,500 young people aged 14 to 21 in gaining meaningful work experience, earning income and developing essential life and leadership skills. Through partnerships with nearly 100 employers, Step-Up offers hands-on exposure to diverse career paths. This lays a strong foundation for long-term career growth. According to the Greater Omaha Chamber’s Business Retention & Expansion survey, workforce availability is a top concern for local companies.
Supported by a collaborative network of funders and partners, Step-Up is an investment in Omaha’s future. The initiative receives support from partners like the City of Omaha and the Charles E. Lakin Foundation. Another supportive partner is the Obama Foundation’s My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) Alliance, a program that seeks to positively shift outcomes for boys and young men of color in Omaha through the implementation of evidence-based practices, which address six MBK milestones during a young person’s life.

Little Leaf Learning Center has received a $25,000 grant from the Karnett Trust, administered by United Way of the Midlands, to support its early education classroom program for children with intellectual disabilities.
The funding will help Little Leaf provide small-group early education classes, addressing current needs such as classroom supplies, technology upgrades and general operational expenses. This includes utilities, cleaning supplies and professional development opportunities for staff, including training like the National Down Syndrome Conference.
Little Leaf Learning Center offers a research-based curriculum tailored to children with Down syndrome, focusing on early intervention to improve bone density, balance, speech and life skills such as problem-solving and personal hygiene. The program also supports families by providing resources and advocacy guidance.
The grant review process involved local volunteers who recognized the essential services Little Leaf provides to children and families with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the community. Through standardized assessments and coordinated occupational and speech therapies, Little Leaf delivers personalized support designed to empower each child. Benson Community Garden has been officially recognized as a Certified Wildlife Habitat® by the National Wildlife Federation, one of the nation’s oldest and largest conservation organizations. The certification honors the garden’s efforts to support pollinators, protect biodiversity and promote hands-on environmental leadership in the heart of Omaha.
The National Wildlife Federation’s program recognizes individuals, schools, organizations and communities that create natural, sustainable habitats to support wildlife. To earn certification, spaces must provide essential elements for native species to thrive while also using practices that conserve natural resources and protect the environment.
“The community garden was built from the ground up to show what’s possible—even in a small urban space,” said Jenny Goetzinger, Benson Community Garden coordinator. “This certification is a win not just for wildlife, but for the entire community.”
The Benson Community Garden exemplifies the key principles at the core of the certification program and its own neighborhood mission: biodiversity, sustainable living, and inspiration and outreach. For more information, visit bensongardens.org.

As homeowners face rising costs in home maintenance, a revolutionary product is o ering a smarter, more sustainable solution to one of the most common issues: aging asphalt shingles.
Roof Rejuvenate, developed by Roof Rejuvenate USA in partnership with Sika, is transforming the way property owners approach roof care. “We are committed to extending the lifespan of asphalt roof shingles with our product, Roof Rejuvenate, a proven solution developed by the renowned Roof Rejuvenate USA,” a representative explained. The partnership, built on “mutual respect and a shared vision,” aims to deliver a high-quality rejuvenator that outperforms typical market o erings.
Unlike other treatments that rely on soy methyl esters or industrial-grade solvents, Roof Rejuvenate uses a unique technology that works on a molecular level. “By restoring the asphalt base within the lower tab of each shingle, we ensure comprehensive rejuvenation without compromising on quality or resorting to harsh chemicals,” the company shared.
Shingles that are between ve and ten years old often begin to show early signs of aging, such as curling at the edges and minor granular loss. This stage presents the ideal opportunity for roof rejuvenation—before the damage becomes too severe. In fact, curled shingles can often be revived through the application of specialized oils, which help restore exibility and prevent further granular loss.
However, if shingles exhibit extreme granular loss or su er from more signi cant damage, they may no longer be eligible for rejuvenation. That’s why it’s important to act early. The professionals at Roof Rejuvenate can assess the health of your shingles and determine if rejuvenation is right for your roof. Curling and minor granular loss are key warning signs of aging, and addressing them promptly with expert care can signi cantly extend your roof’s lifespan.
The cost savings are hard to ignore. Shingle rejuvenation averages just 15% of the cost of a full roof replacement. “The average cost of roof replacement in 2020 was $10,000 compared to only $1,500 to rejuvenate,” making it a practical option for many homeowners. A certi ed dealer will inspect the roof and provide a customized estimate based on the size, pitch, access, and condition of the roof.
One standout bene t is the ve-year transferable warranty, which “gives homeowners peace of mind by guaranteeing that the rejuvenated shingles will retain their oil and remain e ective.” Not only does this protect the current homeowner’s investment, but it also boosts property value for future buyers.
With Roof Rejuvenate, preserving your roof doesn’t have to mean replacing it. Instead, it means restoring what’s already there smarter, cleaner, and at a fraction of the cost.
“Shingle rejuvenation restores aging asphalt shingles by replenishing essential oils and materials, preventing issues like cracking and granule loss.” This process softens up your shingles making them more pliable. So inconveniences like small hail storms will not damage your roof.
Let’s face it, your roof has been through a lot. Rain, sun, snow, hail, raccoons with boundary issues… It’s exhausted. But before you send it into early retirement (and drain your wallet), let Roof Rejuvenate bring it back to life! With the roof rejuvenation service, they’ll give your shingles a spa day, minus the cucumbers, and help your roof feel young, strong, and leak-free again.

Back to school time can be crazy! There is so much for parents to do, and the anticipation of your kids getting out of the house for a little bit is exciting. The beginning of the school year can be stressful for kids; whether it is nerves or excitement, it is easy for the whole family to be overwhelmed. Taking your kids to the doctor and making sure they’re emotionally supported as well can make all the difference for the beginning of the school year.
Ellie Mental Health can help support your kids emotionally. They are a local mental health office providing Omaha residents with therapy services, with the mission to destigmatize mental health problems and make therapy accessible to every kid and parent. This is therapy on your terms. Ellie wants to make getting help easy and provide truly individualized services for each patient.
For your growing and maturing kid, a guiding hand to help them process emotions and grow into a better person can be helpful. Every single person on this Earth has faced tough times, and if someone says they haven’t, let’s be honest, that’s just not true. When your mental health takes a hit, getting the support you need shouldn’t be complicated.
That’s where Ellie comes in. They’re here to walk beside you through life’s ups, downs and everything in between. Real support, from real people—because you deserve to feel heard, understood and never alone.
Aside from mental health, you know your kid likely isn’t brushing their teeth like they should. Some kids treat toothbrushing like a summer suggestion, not a daily routine. But before they hit the books, make sure they’ve had their dental checkup!
A quick visit now means fewer surprises later (and less “mystery breath” in the carpool line). Pediatric Dental Specialists-Omaha creates healthy smiles to wow all the new teachers and classmates. With a warm and friendly environment that will make every kid feel comfortable, Pediatric Dental Specialists-Omaha treats kids of all types, whether they have special needs, horrible oral care habits or social anxiety. Your child will have pearly white teeth upon leaving the office, which they can show off on the playground to their childhood crush.
Central States is proud to announce it has recently purchased a new state-of-the-art four axis dual turret CNC machine. This investment will allow Central States additional machining capacity to increase throughout and reduce turn times on repairs, helping their customers get back up and running quickly. Central States has a goal to have any cylinder repaired in three days with this new capability.
Owner Tehl Keslar said, “We have worked hard since we acquired Central States in 2022 to improve the e ciency of our operation. Making this investment in this type of equipment will make us one, if not the only hydraulic repair facility to embrace this technology. In our business, downtime for customers cost businesses signi cant time & money, and our focus for Central States moving forward will be geared towards quality rst, and speed second. We want our customers to know we can deliver!”
COO Henry Augustine believes this will open the door for new business opportunities as well. “We will be expanding into using the excess capacity to be able to machine run parts for companies. As we grow, we plan to add an evening shift that will focus on customer run parts, one-o parts, and allow for additional revenue opportunities to help service customers in manufacturing and agriculture spaces that we haven’t been able to previously.”
