Ruby’s work Study was then selected by the National Gallery of Victoria for Top Arts 2021, an annual exhibition which celebrates the exceptional and thought-provoking work of VCE Art and Studio Arts students. Top Arts 2021 is testament to the resilience of the exhibiting artists who achieved excellence in an extraordinary year and celebrates the distinctive achievements of art education. Drawn from a range of media, topics, schools and students,

Top Arts is part of the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority’s annual showcasing of excellence. “For my works from the series The unguarded moment, I chose to focus on the lives of people behind closed doors,” Ruby said. “The series consists of four works that aim to depict the way individuals behave when they feel they’re not being watched, revealing their emotions, inner thoughts, feelings and ultimately their character.” The Top Arts exhibition will be shown at the NGV Ian Potter Centre in Federation Square, Melbourne, until 11 July 2021.
