The Performing Arts is proudly central to St Michael's identity. We encourage our students at all levels to learn from, with and for the world, through the pursuit of their passion and curiosity in Music, Drama, Theatre and Dance. The focus of the Performing Arts in 2021 is very much on reconnecting our students with the joys of collaborating with peers and the simple fun of performing once again. After an unbelievable 12 months since our last live production, St Michael’s was very excited to warmly welcome our community to the 2021 Student Production, The Real Inspector Hound by Tom Stoppard. The Real Inspector Hound is a witty spoof of the 'whodunit' genre that was diligently directed and brought to life by our senior students. In Term 2, we saw students dance through the decades with Iconic, the long-awaited return of our annual Dance Project to Gasworks. This fun-filled, energetic production showcased the talents, dedication and stamina of our students. There was something for everyone in the music choices, which made for a very entertaining evening. Shortly afterwards, it was time for some Shakespeare, with St Michael’s contemporary staging of The Winter’s Tale. Audiences were inspired by the talent of St Michael’s thespians as they brought to life one of Shakespeare’s most complex and challenging plays.
“Congratulations to Co-Directors, Mr Luke Matthews and Ms Annie Fiume for mentoring our young people through this experience and for driving the narrative arc of the play into our modern sensibilities and contemporary context.”
– Mrs Terrie Jones, Head of the School
