In February, our Year 6 Leaders for 2021 were officially inducted into their roles at All Saints Church. This year the Junior School is led by Co-Captains (K-6) Sophie and Sebastian, and Co-Vice Captains Lola and Harshaan. Through the power of positive role-modelling, St Michael’s Student Leaders have a huge influence on their peers. The School values of Dignity, Respect, Care and Compassion are at the heart of our way of being and guide our leaders thoughout the School. Being a positive role model, upholding the School’s values, positively influencing and enabling others, and initiating change are the driving forces for our Student Leaders, as well as a strong social conscience with a passion to serve the community. At St Michael’s, there is a rich array of leadership opportunities for students. Such roles enable students to gain valuable confidence and experience in learning about responsibility and organisation. Other leadership roles for Year 6 students include Music Co-Captains, Sacristans and Mentors. Students from Years 2 to 5 can also become Environmental Action and Community Action Group representatives. In the Senior School, formal leadership opportunities for students in Year 12 include Co-Captains of the School (7–12), Co-Vice Captains of the School (7–12), House Co-Captains, House Co-Vice Captains, and Co-Curricular Captains. Students in Year 9 can also take up the role of Years 7 to 9 Co-Captains and Co-Vice Captains. However, students don’t need a badge to be a leader – we ask all our students to uphold the School’s core philosophy and live by our values, taking action to lead themselves, their peers and our community to make a positive difference to the world.
