Foundation continues to support community projects in Brockville area

On Thursday, May 26, representatives from organizations receiving funding from the Brockville and Area Community Foundation (BACF) gathered at the Brockville Public Library. “It is only $8,500 this year, but let me put this into perspective,” said Executive Director Joyce Ferguson. “Since 2000, in unrestricted funds the foundation has given out over $460,000 to 112 organizations.” “We had 24 applications to go through,” indicated BACF grant committee member George Smith. That day six of the seven organizations to receive funding were present. With assistance from Ferguson, Smith announced the recipients and presented cheques asking each organization to further indicate how the funds would be used. On behalf of the principal at Commonwealth Public School, Debbie Bradley accepted the grant of $1,116 to build an outdoor garden and classroom. “We are very pleased as we want to make it fun for the See BACF page 2
