Stevens Transport is proud to recognize Laurin Smith on her promotion to Director of Driver Management - Contractor Division! Laurin, a graduate of the University of Missouri, has been a member of the Stevens Transport family since July of 2019. Laurin has spent the last three years as an integral part of the growth and management of our contractor division. As a Driver Manager Operations Leader (DMOL) Laurin has ‘led by example’ in the training and development of not only her team but many others within the organization. Her commitment to the culture and team success of our

independent contractors exemplifies the skillset and qualities of a true leader and manager. Prior to joining Stevens Transport, Laurin spent nearly five years in various management rolls at Penske Truck Leasing. In this exciting new role, Laurin will be responsible for the management, training, and continued success of the DMOL’s, Driver Managers, and Drivers that make up our Contractor Division.

At Stevens Transport, we believe in having fun at work, and after work! Each year, Stevens Transport sponsors the cost of intramural teams for our employees in sports such as softball, volleyball, kickball, and flag football!

This fall, we joined together to form two teams ‘Net Results’ and ‘Hard Hitters’ that recently had the opportunity to face off against one another and earn the ultimate bragging rights in the office! It was a long hard-fought match, but in the end, Net Results took home the victory, and office bragging rights until the two meet again! Win or lose, it is a great opportunity for our employees to be able to spend time together, away from the office, and strengthen their relationships with one another!

Lloyd Thomas woke up one day, and didn’t like what he saw in the mirror. “I had been parking my truck at Planet Fitness for quite some time before I finally made the decision to go inside and start my weight loss journey”, said Lloyd.

Lloyd made the decision to focus on his health when he weighed in at 270lbs. Lloyd is now looking back after one year of hard work and dedication, Lloyd is down nearly100lbs! When asked what steps he took to make this incredible transformation, Lloyd told us that making a change in his diet, cutting carbs, and adding exercise to his daily routine led to his success. Now, having lost over 100lbs, Lloyd is focused on maintaining this new healthy lifestyle, and helping his fellow drivers make the same changes that he did!

Balancing a healthy lifestyle on the road can be difficult, but just like Lloyd, we can all make changes to live healthier lifestyles!

Please welcome Michael Shepherd as our Vice President of Technology. Michael is a proven leader in the areas of Strategic Planning, Technology, Innovation, Process Improvement, Integration, Business Intelligence, Project Management and Cybersecurity.

Over the last 20 years, Michael has worked to establish a reputation as an innovator and leader in technology. Michael brings significant and diverse experience in all things technology and within a variety of industries including construction, real estate, software, entertainment, finance, healthcare and non-profit.

Michael is an outstanding communicator with keen attention to detail and a natural ability to forge collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Michael has been a Dallas resident since 2000, is married to his wife Rebecca and they have one daughter who is 13. In his limited spare time, he enjoys most outdoor adventures including wakeboarding, skiing and mountain climbing.

We are excited about the leadership and experience Michael will bring to Stevens Transport.

Please join us in welcoming Jason Day to the Stevens Transport family. Jason, an East Texas native and graduate of The University of Texas, is joining our leadership team as our Director of Pricing and Analytics, where he will oversee our rates department.

Jason began his career with Raytheon Technologies as a Senior Financial Analyst where he oversaw government defense accounting and reporting standards. After 5 years Jason joined Dean Foods/Dairy Farmers of America where he has spent the past 9 years in multiple roles, ultimately serving as Finance Director responsible for financial operations at dozens of national dairy plants across the U.S. Jason was responsible for process improvement, annual budgets, KPI metrics, forecasting profitability through creation of cost models to drive improvement in the logistics, transportation and manufacturing space.

Stevens is excited about the knowledge and experience Jason brings to our organization. Outside of work, Jason enjoys spending his free time with his family and his 3 children’s diversified sporting activities. Jason also enjoys hunting, fishing and trying to find the BEST BBQ in Texas.

Stevens Transport’s Transition Trucking: Driving for Excellence Award Nominee

Stevens Transport is honored to have Paul Gouker as a valued member of our driving corps and representing Stevens Transport as a Finalist for this incredible award. Thank you, Paul, for proudly serving our country for nearly three decades!

A Georgia-native, Paul Gouker answered the call to serve our country at 18 years old in 1992. Paul enlisted and served our country for eight years in the National Guard before transitioning to active duty in the year 2000. While on active duty, Paul deployed multiple times in support of the War on Terrorism to various locations including Iraq, Afghanistan, and Bosnia.

On Thursday, September 1st, the Transition Trucking: Driving for Excellence Award program announced the top 11 finalists in running for the ultimate prize of a fully loaded Kenworth T680 Next Generation truck. Launched in 2016 as part of an overall plan to help promote careers in the transportation industry to transitioning military Veterans, National Guard members and Reservists, the annual award has gained national recognition with a record number of fleets and driver training schools making nominations this year. This year’s group of nominees was the largest and most diverse in the seven-year history of the Transition Trucking: Driving for Excellence Award. Stevens Transport is proud to have nominated a top three finalist five of the last six years. We are honored to have a Stevens Transport Veteran/Driver be named the grand prize winner in both 2017 and 2021!

Kraft Heinz, one of our oldest and largest customer partners, recently recognized 10 senior Stevens Transport drivers, and our on-site representative, Craig Angell for their achievements and dedication to success over the last year!

“Our biggest dedicated fleet, Stevens Transport, has 250 active drivers in our network. The active drivers haul 25,000 of our loads each year. A few of these drivers have been around since the inception of the fleet program many years ago. The 13 drivers featured below celebrated huge milestones this year, achieving over 1 million, and even 2 million miles hauled for Kraft Heinz! On August 24, 2022, Todd Aaron, Vice Chairman and Robert Solimani, Vice President of Stevens Transport proudly accepted the Coca-Cola Asset Carrier of the Year Award in Atlanta, Georgia. Stevens Transport was awarded for providing unparalleled service in 2021 during a time of unprecedented freight demand attributed to the global supply chain pandemic. Although this is the third time Coca-Cola has recognized Stevens Transport as their top-performing logistics partner, the 2021 – 2022 cycle offered challenges that required a greater element of service, not seen in prior years as Coca-Cola products were essential to millions of Americans during a challenging economic setting. Coca-Cola has been a key strategic business partner of Stevens Transport for over a decade.

Driver Appreciation Week

Steven’s Transport is proud to always go above and beyond to recognize our incredible drivers each and every day, but especially so during National Driver Appreciation Week. Each year, in September, drivers all over the country are celebrated for their hard work and dedication in keeping our nation moving, through various events and activities during National Driver Appreciation Week.

This year, Driver Appreciation Week took place from September 11th until September 17th, where Stevens Transport was proud to host hundreds of drivers at our Dallas, Texas headquarters, and give away over $20,000 in prizes to our prestigious driving force! Our drivers were thrilled to receive gifts such as tv’s, headsets, gift cards, and apparel throughout the week. We also enjoyed various actives, such as conducting a special, on-site edition, of the Stevens Transport Roadside Radio Podcast, feeding all of our drivers both on and off the yard. In celebration of our amazing drivers, members of every department, across our entire company, came together to honor and thank our heros on the road.

This year, Stevens Transport was proud to bring back our office chili cookoff! Our drivers were asked to be the judges, and 27 teams completed to win the title of best overall chili and best team name, plus a year’s worth of bragging rights in the office! Over 100 drivers took part in selecting the best overall chili, and team name, and after lots of consideration and eating, our driving force decided on the best of the best!

Stevens Transport is proud to celebrate Driver Appreciation Week and the hard working, dedicated drivers that go above and beyond each and every day for our company, and the people of our country!

Stevens transport is proud to have 723 drivers in the Million Mile Club. These drivers are in the top 10% of all drivers, all across the industry, and we are honored to have them as members of our driving force. The level of dedication and attention to safety that goes into the million miles these drivers have run is unmatched. Joining the million mile club is one of the highest achievements that a driver can earn. We are very thankful to have these incredible individuals as members of the Stevens Transport family, and we can’t thank them enough for all that they have done.

MILLION SAFE MILES

Rocky Fiel, a Bells, Texas native, joined the Stevens transport driving force in 1991. Rocky grew up working on a West Texas farm driving a truck for his grandfather, a job that led him to becoming a full-time truck driver with Stevens Transport! Having now become the third four-million-miler in company history, Rocky Fiel is amongst the top of the top in our entire industry. “I have been a driver at Stevens Transport for over thirty years, and as the company grew, and more drivers joined on, Stevens never forgot their older drivers. The people of Stevens Transport have kept me happy for many, many years,” said Rocky!

Johnny Williams Jr.

This Haul of Famer is climbing the ranks of our Million Miler Club!

Johnny Williams Jr, a Houston, Texas native, has reach the two-million-mile mark at Stevens Transport! Johnny joined the Stevens Transport family in 1999, shortly after graduating from Lone Star Community College with his CDL! Prior to becoming a driver at Stevens Transport, Johnny served in the United States Army for eight years and then spent nearly a decade as a police officer! When asked what he attributes his success to, Johnny remembered his trainer Richard Moore, who we miss so much, for helping him become a great driver! Outside of work, Johnny enjoys spending his free time cooking and playing guitar!

TWO MILLION MILES garcia desinor

Our Haul of Famer Garcia Desinor has officially reached the two-million-mile mark! Garcia, who graduated from the Stevens Driving Academy with his CDL in 2006, was born in Verrettes, Haiti and came to America with his wife and father-in-law in 1956. After spending nearly two decades in construction, Garcia stumbled into the trucking industry looking for a job that would allow him to provide for his family in a less physically demanding manner. Having now spent 16 years as a member of the premier Stevens Transport driving force, Garcia has been able to achieve everything that he had ever imagined while driving with Stevens Transport. Outside of work, Garcia enjoys spending time with his two children! Garcia has a daughter who is a successful college professor in Salamanca, Spain, and a son who is a well-known businessman that accepted a deal on the hit TV series, Shark Tank!

Samuel Hodgdon - Tire Technician October

We are happy to announce that the Paragon Leasing Employee of the month for October is Samuel Hodgdon. Samuel is a tire technician in the Truck Tire Shop and has worked at Paragon Leasing since March 14, 2022.Sam has quickly a leader on his shift, thanks to his great work ethic and ability to assist and train our newer technicians at night, while keeping the work flow moving.

Samuel will be leaving us to join the ranks of the many woman and men who have served to protect our great nation. We are honored with his time here at Paragon, but also understand his calling to serve our country. We can not thank him enough for going forward to honor all of us in this great nation.

Jon Saucedo - Shop Technician September

We are happy to announce that the Paragon Leasing Employee of the month for September is Jon Saucedo. Jon, a detailer in the Detail Shop, has worked at Paragon Leasing since August 25, 2017.

Jon is a highly skilled and very talented professional that is known for taking charge and always being the first to help a co-worker in need. Jon always comes in with a smile on his face and is always ready to uplift those around him. On top of being a leader in his division, Jon is also known for coming up with ways to work more efficiently, while always focusing on safety.

Bill Fruit- Technician in the Trailer Shop August

We are happy to announce that the Paragon Leasing Employee of the month for August is Frank Goree. Frank, a coordinator in our Road Rescue Department, has worked at Paragon Leasing since April 21, 2014. Frank is known amongst his peers for going above and beyond to assist our driving force when they are faced with mechanical issues. His communication points, attention to detail and strong decision-making skills make Frank one of the most elite coordinators to ever be a part of Paragon Leasing. Frank is very easy to work with and is a team player at all times. If a shift needs to be covered, Frank can always be counted on to cover, and to make sure our work load and responsibilities are taken care of.

Alyson Garofalo - Sr. Project Manager

Please join us in welcoming Alyson Garofalo to the Stevens Transport family! Alyson, who grew up in Durant, Oklahoma, and formerly worked as an operations consultant with PFJ Energy, will be joining our team as a Sr. Project Manager, directly supporting our vice chairman with high-level operations initiatives. Alyson is an outstanding communicator with keen attention to detail, and a near decade of project management experience that will make her an invaluable asset in this exciting new role with Stevens Transport! A fun fact about Alyson: She is a 2nd-degree black belt in taekwondo, and she enjoys playing competitive billiards!

Tiffany Latvaaho - National Account Manager

Please join us in welcoming Tiffany Latvaaho to the Stevens Transport team! Tiffany, who grew up in Monticello, Minnesota, is joining our operations department as our newest National Account Manager. In this new role, Tiffany will put the transportation experience she gained from her prior role as a logistics coordinator to work managing the communication and reporting associated with hauling freight for one of our numerous corporate partners.
