Stevens Transport recently collaborated with major partner Coca-Cola to deliver various Coca-Cola products to the 1-108th Calvary National Guard in Calhoun, GA. The delivery was made in Stevens’ National Guard decorated trailer and was transported by former Transition Trucking finalist and current Army Reservist Christopher Young.

“This great feat could not have been orchestrated without the unselfish efforts of Craig Worley, Southeast Transportation Planning Manager for Coca-Cola, and Robert Solimani, Vice President of Operations at Stevens,” Vice Chairman Todd Aaron said. “They were simply working as a team creatively doing whatever it takes to pull off this herculean mission. We were honored to be a part of this great humanitarian opportunity to support those in need.”

The Calvary has been working tirelessly alongside other infection control teams to assist nursing homes and healthcare facilities to implement infection control protocols and enhanced sanitation methods to minimize COVID-19 exposures among vulnerable residents. The infection control teams are one of the many innovations created by Georgia National Guard leaders and planners.

tevens Transport, one of the most awarded carriers in the trucking industry, has added another accolade: Transport Topics’ Top 100 ForHire Carriers. The list ranks the largest for-hire carriers in the United States, Canada, and Mexico based on annual revenue.

2020 is the 17th consecutive year that Stevens has been included on the list. The publication gathers information from a number of resources, including survey results, public financial reports, S.J. Consulting Group, Bulk Transporter magazine, and Husch Blackwell legal services.

“We are very appreciative of this special donation from both Stevens Transport and Coca-Cola,” 1-108th Sergeant First Class Andrew Franklin said. “Their constant support of military personnel is superb, and this donation will go a long way to maintain both morale and hydration for our soldiers.”

Chris Young was very ecstatic when he received the call to help make this special delivery. “I recently returned from my latest military drill and felt very honored to give back to one of the organizations that have given so much to me. I look forward to assisting both my military family and Stevens with future donations!”

This donation is just one of the many ways that Stevens supports our armed forces.

Along with being a major donor to multiple organizations that assist both military members and veterans, including The Wounded Warriors Project, Heroes Among Us, and 22 Kill, they also offer outstanding driving opportunities for military veterans.

FAMILIES TRANSITION More military veterans are choosing a life over the road than ever before. According to The United States Census Bureau, the transportation industry attracts more veterans than other occupations, accounting for at least 10 percent of the nation’s commercial drivers. Veterans choose to pursue a career in the transportation industry for a number of reasons that intersect with military values, such as dedication to safety, skill, discipline, and service to their country.

Starting in the Military

According to Statista, the leading provider of market and consumer data, 2.77 million service members have served on 5.4 million deployments across the world since 2001; over half were married, and about half had children.

attack, and the phone line would go dead. It would be days before it would come back up, and would be even longer until she reached out to us and told us that she was doing fine. It was a nerve-wracking experience.”

Stevens Transport CD, Inc. Driver Manager Johnny Cox recounted similar experiences that his wife faced during his time in the Army. “Because of my position in the military, I was not able to share with anyone where I was being deployed. Dolly, my wife, would have no idea where I was going, or how long I was going to be gone for. It was especially hard back then because we didn’t have the technology to easily communicate, so she tolerantly waited for my return.”

#MEETSTEVENS Sarah Ridgeway Freight Broker - Chicago II Office Sarah joined Stevens in February of 2012. She is recognized for her drive and determination to identify and capitalize on “out of the box” opportunities for the Chicago II office. One of Sarah’s favorite parts of her job is solving the multiple challenges that she and her team come across on a daily basis.

When we asked Sarah what she attributes to her success, she responded: “This season has been incredibly difficult for all of us, but TL has banned together and created a teamwork atmosphere that will continue to grow. I know that I am successfully completing my day when carriers ask for my freight even in bad times.” Sarah also passed along some sound advice for our new associates: “Always make it a point to learn, be a part of the team, and understand that if the day is tough, don’t let it control your tomorrow.” Outside of work, Sarah enjoys doing yoga, running, and watching my favorite tv shows.

Courtney Davis Truck Body Shop Parts Clerk Courtney joined Stevens in January of 2014. She is recognized for her commitment to excellence and having all parts needed for body technicians when needed. One of Courtney’s favorite parts of her job is having the opportunity to learn and thrive in one of America’s biggest trucking companies. When we asked Courtney what she attributes to her success, she answered: “My goal is to give 100 percent in everything that I do. I know that I have successfully completed each day when I have accomplished my goal.” Courtney also passed along some sound advice for our new associates: “Come in every day with a positive attitude and help Stevens continue to be successful. In do that, you will achieve more success in your role.” Outside of work, Courtney enjoys cooking, fishing, hunting, reading, and spending time with her family and friends

Melvin Loveless Alliance Senior Service Writer Melvin joined Stevens in June of 2012. He is recognized for his dedication and outstanding work ethic. One of Melvin’s favorite parts of his job is his daily interactions with drivers and assisting them with getting their trucks in and out of the shops efficiently and in a timely manner. When we asked Melvin what he attributes to his success, he stated: “Knowing that drivers are counting on me to help them get back on the road to make a crucial delivery, make it home, or just provide for their families is what motivates me to ensure that I do everything that I possibly can for these drivers. I know that I have succeeded when a driver lets me know that they appreciate the work that my team and I did for them.” Melvin also passed along some sound advice for our new associates: “Make sure to soak up as much knowledge as possible. Also, be sure to ask questions and keep the answers locked in your memory bank because the questions that you ask at this time, you most likely will have to answer at some point in the future.” Outside of work, Melvin enjoys coaching youth basketball and football and spending time with his family.

#MEETSTEVENS Michael Georgen Midwest / Northeast Rail Planner Michael joined Stevens in January of 2015. He is recognized for his consistency and accountability that he provides to both his co-workers and drivers on a daily basis.

One of Michael’s favorite parts of his job is the new challenges that he encounters every day and finding new solutions to those problems. When we asked Michael what he attributes to his success, he replied: “I am working to be the best for both our customers and our drivers. I know that I have accomplished the day successfully when all of our drivers are on the road delivering loads.” Michael also passed along some sound advice for our new associates: “Make sure to ask questions and don’t hold any of them back. Also, show the best version of yourself every day.” Outside of work, Michael enjoys golfing, fishing, and other outdoor activities.

Nanci Campbell Driver Services Administrator Nanci joined Stevens in November of 2019. She is recognized for her superior customer service to both her co-workers and our drivers. One of Nanci’s favorite parts of her job is getting to meet all of the drivers and hear the stories about their travels. When we asked Nanci what she attributes to her success, she explained: “My family is my number one support system. They rely on me to make every day better than the last, and I make sure to learn everything that I can to improve on a daily basis.” Nanci also passed along some sound advice to our new associates: “You will have days that are better than others, but never give up! Also, be open to learn everything you can and grow, because there are many opportunities to advance your career!” Outside of work, Nanci enjoys fishing and spending time with her husband, six-year-old daughter, and is preparing for the arrival of her new son!

Albert Hunt Logistics Account Manager Albert joined Stevens in January of this year. He is recognized for the positive relationships that he creates with his customers and ambitious attitude. One of Albert’s favorite parts of his job is working with a supportive team that is helping him have a successful career and strengthen his skills daily. When we asked Albert what he attributes to his success, he said: “My wife and kids are definitely top motivators for me. Being able to provide them with a safe comfortable place to live and seeing them happy really helps me push through each day and work to get better. Also, being able to work with a team full of coworkers who actually do want you to succeed, and show they care is a great motivator.”

Albert also passed along some sound advice for our new associates: “Do not be afraid to ask questions or for help.
