SFCC Foundation mini grants give life to ideas Since 2018, the SFCC Foundation has offered mini grants (up to $5,000 each) to support faculty and staff ideas and needs that addresses SFCC’s Strategic Plan Priorities. Thanks to the foundation, faculty and staff are able to fund projects that improve student learning and success and improve systems and processes for stakeholders across the campus community.
January 2020 recipients.......................................................................................................................................................................................................................... Daniel So – purchase a Matterport 3D camera and a Ricoh Theta V 360 degree camera for Engineering Technology, Web Design and Development, and Construction Management courses. These high-tech cameras provide hands on experiences for students to learn the concepts and tools used in Augmented and Virtual Realty environments, and thus improve students skills and career marketability.
Russ Schupp – provide grant funds for students who need to purchase Adobe Creative Cloud Suite software licenses for their coursework. This software is an industry standard, and the skills students learn better prepare them for the workforce.
Amy Jackson and George Owens – purchase an electronic logging device for commercial driver training. Students will experience hands-on use of an industry-wide electronic logging system that is required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

Matthew Karbinas and Matthew Clark – purchase a recycle, reclaiming and recharging industry-standard automotive air conditioning machine to replace an old machine. Automotive AC training is a specialty area in which students can become certified.

Yvette Sweeney and Victoria Stemberger – purchase a mobile tech cart for navigators to enroll students in classrooms, labs, auditoriums, and common spaces. Having the capability to engage students in locations other than navigators’ offices will enhance early enrollment and retention by making enrollment convenient, flexible and accessible.
Darren Pannier and Kristen Arnold – purchase of athletic training equipment that will improve student-athletes’ muscle strength and endurance
