This is a tale about a city. A city hidden from sight. A city far, far away. A city unlike yours and mine. This was a city with no heart.
From the outside this town looks the same as your and mine. There are cozy little houses with kitchens and three bedrooms. There are trash cans on every corner, clean cut yards, and perfectly paved roads. Everything seems perfectly normal.
But if you take a good look around you’ll notice that there are many people in this town. Yet not one of them seems to smile. There is no grinning, no cheering, no laughter or fun, not even kids out playing in the sun.
You see, unlike you and me they have to reason to smile. Their homes are simple and boring. There is no entertainment. No parks, no toys. No gardens or flowers. Not even ice cream. This town is full of gloom and grumps....................and yet
There is one man. He lives off in the far ends of town. His name is Jeff.
Jeff is unlike everyone else in the town. Jeff wears a smiles instead of a frown. He walks around without a care in the world. Even in a town filed with gloom, Jeff smiles.
Everyday you can find Jeff doing his daily routine. He cleans up all the trash around the town.
After that, he would wander around town singing. Occasionally other people in town would come out and listen to the music.
Lastly, he goes door to door, talking to his neighbors. He will ask, “how are you?” and, “need help with anything?”
And sometimes.........
Sometimes they would smile. Smile at the only kindness ever shown to them.
Sometimes it is good to kind, even if you think there is no reason to be. For you see a bit of kindness can brighten not only your day, but others as well.
So remember to be kind, and to always try for a smile.
