Meet the New G.M.

Ladies and gentlemen, it is my honor and privilege to introduce you to our new General Manager of Sulphur Springs Country Club, Mark Badertscher, CCM! (pronounced BAD-ER-SHUR)

As I’m sure you are all aware, this Club has been through a myriad of changes over the last several months, but one of the biggest changes has been the search for a new General Manager to lead our team in providing you with the best Member experience possible.

Our management team has remained as committed as ever to enhancing your experiences around the Club, and we were all so excited about the opportunity to take part in the search for a leader with a vision we could all get behind

The search, done by Ethos Club and Leisure, was both expansive and thorough, and our team was given the opportunity to provide some input on who we thought would bring some new energy. We were hoping for someone who would be vision-centered and personable, with a lifetime of experience and a hands-on, transformational approach to leadership.

After narrowing down the field to two highly-qualified candidates, the management team had the opportunity to meet Mr. Badertscher in person and, it’s safe to say, he blew us all away.

Mark began his career as a caddie at an Ohio club. Through hard work and dedication, he earned a management position after twelve years of progressive advancement

He views his “hands-on approach” to leadership as a vital skill set for team building and training of the staff He excels at identifying opportunities to streamline operations with expense savings to enhance the member experience. He is a skilled communicator, known for his open-door policy and willingness to listen to feedback.

He never overlooks an opportunity to be visible and engaging to the membership and staff A personal quote of Mark is, “Never be afraid to ask questions or make mistakes, try not to make the same mistake twice.” This attention to detail has served him well through his many years in the Private Club Industry.

"Never be afraid to ask questions or make mistakes, try not to make the same mistake twice."

He enjoys spending time with this wife Anne and family, traveling, and indulging in his passion for food, sports, and trivia. He is fortunate to have played on some of the most prestigious golf courses in America

Mark and Anne are looking forward to making Sulphur Springs home

Clubhouse Buzz Food & Beverage Updates

Chris Moore, Clubhouse Manager

The Club has started off the year with some amazing events that have been a lot of fun We’ve had Dueling Pianos, a wine dinner, our Valentine’s dinner, just to name a few I’m pleased to let you know that I’ve been working with the bartenders to create a unique cocktail menu for you The cocktail menu is compiled of many classic cocktails, some that I brought from a bar where I worked in Uptown Dallas, as well as some of my very own creations We are also making a separate cocktail menu that will change with the seasons Offering warming drinks during the fall and winter months, transitioning to crisp and refreshing cocktails in the spring and summer months. We would love to have you out to try one of our new cocktails and answer any questions you may have so we can help you find your next favorite cocktail. I would like to strive to have the best cocktail bar in Hopkins County, turning SSCC into your destination for cocktail hour any night of the week. I’ve also worked, with member input, on a new wine list, bringing favorite brands to our offerings to the Club. I’m always open to suggestions about what you would like to see at the Club. We’ve added brands such as Caymus 50 Cebernet, Jordan Cebernet, Meiomi Pinot Noir, Louis Jabot Chablis, Oyster BAy Sauvignon Blanc,Cakebread Chardonnay, just to name a few. So come out to your Club to enjoy one of our new cocktails or a glass of wine. We have beverage menus printed in the Chophouse and in the Bar & Grill. I look forward to seeing you here trying one of our new drinks.

Focus on Fitness Fitness Updates

Meet Mr. Bill Rosenberg! I have had the privilege of working with Mr. Rosenberg on hypertrophy programming over the past few months, and I’m so pleased to share his progress with you! When asked about his experience training with me, here’s what he had to say:

“I’ve been actively involved with resistance training for decades primarily utilizing online programs developed by exercise scientists. This method yielded moderate to good results. However, my results had plateaued for the last couple of years

This prompted me to try an alternative approach I, therefore, reached out to Emilie to develop a hypertrophy/strength program. I emphasized to Emilie that my primary concern was optimization of the program by not getting injured because the compound effect of injury at my age (69) is magnified.

We started by determining my one rep max lifts of various movements. This was the baseline for Emilie to develop the programs This element was the unique and critical variable when compared to other programs I used in the past All programs she developed were based on these one rep max lifts combined with her sensitivity to my injury concern

The outstanding results were evident by the second week of the program. Over the course of the two phases of the program, I have put on 5 pounds of muscle I never achieved results at this level with any other program

I highly recommend to all members that they consider contacting Emilie to start their journey to better well-being and health!”

airway Faring f Course Updates

Huckabee, Golf Course Superintendent

past spring we’ve had to cover the greens a e of times, making it hard to keep the e open for play.

ring greens in the southern transition zone standard practice for most golf courses. e are many factors involved including erature, wind, soil, moisture, etc. onally, we will cover the greens if the erature is going to remain below freezing ore than 72-hours in a row

fully, this will not be a common occurrence est of spring, but keep an eye out and help ke care of the greens when we do get the ce to play a round

The atmosphere is infectious, with everyone out of their seats and in full party mode It’s a time when even those members we don’t often get to see come out to mingle and connect.

Dueling Pianos is not just an event- it’s an experience that brings out the best in everyone It reminds us of the joy of togetherness and the power of music to unite people from all walks of life.
