LGA Championship
Congrats to all who entered the SSCC Championship! You can’t win if you don’t play Our LGA qualifiers’ next opportunity is the end-of-year LGA Championship. The 2-day, flighted tournament is on Tues. & Wed., September 24th & 25th A lunch follows on Wednesday, with reward money for the winners Call Playday Chairwoman Liz Jones if you have any questions
In My Closet
Our annual In My Closet tournament is on Wednesday, October 16th This fun, two-lady scramble is for the IMC charity, which benefits those who are dealing with cancer Guests are welcome We raised almost $6,500 last year! A lunch & presentation follows play Call Suzan Bettes, this year’s Chairwoman, to sign up. Put on your prettiest pink outfit and join us!
ArkLaTex Playday
The next ArkLaTex playday is at Webb Hill CC in Wolfe City, Texas on Thursday, Sept. 19th. Then, in October, we go to Texarkana for the 2-day, end-of-year ArkLaTex tournament. This is on Wednesday & Thursday, October 23rd & 24th. ArkLaTex is a great opportunity for new experiences
Birdie Tree
The Birdie Tree may fall over from the weight! Suzan B., Cecelia G., Donna G. & Linda J. have now earned multiple birdies on the branches It’s a great year for our golfers!
Monthly Meetings
The monthly meeting in September is a short one, after lunch on September 25th. Our IMC tournament on October 16th replaces the monthly meeting.

Tee Talk Golf Opportunities
Writing this to you in mid-July, loving all these cold fronts and surprisingly pleasant golf weather we’ve been having Normally in late July, we are out teaching lessons at 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM just to survive! This has been a welcomed change

Our annual Ryder Cup against The Links of Land’s End, captained by Robert Langhoff, was a huge success and ended in a victory by SSCC!!
By the time you are reading this, we’ve had the MGA Championship, Junior CC, Beat the Heat, and lastly our SSCC Club Championship Thank you all for supporting these events at the Club Without you, they literally don’t exist We are very thankful for the continued support, and love putting these tournaments on for y’all!

Our MGA Member Guest has turned into a highlyanticipated event We’ve filled up the last 3 years, faster and faster each time. The whole weekend is packed with golf, music, and so much more. It’s a can’t miss!! This year’s tee gift from the MGA will be a Titleist/Foot Joy online store. You get to choose from 10 different packages, all valued from $175-$250! Food is included all weekend as well.
Our popular Glow Ball tournament will be Saturday, October 19th. We are doing it a little differently this year. Most holes will be significantly shorter (teeing off from the fairway, shorter par 3s, etc), due to the glow in the dark balls not going near as far We will start at 3:30PM, play 9 holes in the light, eat some snacks, then we will start right at dark Would be a great family outing or party for friends! If we have enough golfers, we will light up both 9’s!

Meet Curtis Adams! Curtis is one of our long-time chefs, and a crowd favorite, here at SSCC He was born and raised right here in Birch Creek, so he’s likely to know almost anyone who walks in the door. Known around the Club for both his food and his smile, we’ve been fortunate enough to have him, skillet in hand, for 7 years, and he’s still going strong! Curtis says the best part about working at SSCC is “the members, Randy, Jill, and Amanda ” He loves to put smiles on our Members’ faces with his food and his jokes, and you all seem to love him just as much!

Meet Clare. Clare Smith, along with her husband, Drew, and their three boys are members here at SSCC She started working with Emilie in June of 2023 and has come such a long way towards reaching her goals. Here’s what she had to say about her fitness journey:
“When I told [Emilie] I hadn't exercised in years, and I had a poor diet, she didn't make me feel self-conscious or ashamed She was genuinely eager to help me. I told her I wasn't looking to drop weight quickly. I wanted to change my lifestyle I wanted to be active and healthy She was incredibly flexible and understanding to my specific needs and wants
I instantly loved coming to workouts with Emilie She's a natural cheerleader (my biggest cheerleader next to my husband). She's encouraging and positive, and I feel like she genuinely cares about my wellness journey
It did not take long before I was performing on a level I never really dreamed I would get to. I can say with complete sincerity that I am in better shape physically than I have been in my entire life I started with Emilie with 30-minute sessions twice a week, and I look forward to every session
Now, the gym is my daily therapy. As a mom of 3 little boys and an involved business owner, my gym time is what I call my ‘me’ time My goal is to work out four days a week, and without Emilie making me feel comfortable and confident, I truly don't think I would be where I'm at today
Since June, due to my consistency with Emilie and working with a local certified nutritionist to understand eating for my macros, I have lost 22 pounds, and I have dropped 4 pants sizes I ran my first 5k in November, and I have the energy to keep up with my three young boys for as long as they can keep up with me.”
