ANNOUNCING SPSCC’S 75TH ANNIVERSARY “Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give thanks: for that thy name is near thy wondrous works declare.” – Pslam 75:1 As we move into the 75th year of ministry, we are declaring 75 Years of WONDROUS WORKS for St. Philip’s School and Community Center with plans for special events through December 2021, the publication of three books, and more. We have formed a Diamond Club Committee comprised of current and former trustees, ambassadors, and loyal friends to lead the way in ensuring every effort posed over the next year is successful in raising awareness and resources for the St. Philip’s ministry.

25 of our 75 Wondrous Works! Through next year, we will feature 25 of St. Philip’s 75 Wondrous Works in each edition of the 1600 Magazine. Below, are the first works highlighting the people, programs, and partnerships that have helped shape the first seventy-five years:

THE PEOPLE 1. Rev. Zan Holmes and Peter Johnson: Established community organizing meetings at SPSCC in the 1980’s. 2. Jan Pruitt: Helped establish food pantry program 3. Endowment Visionaries: John Muse and Albert Black 4. Gwen Chance: Former Executive Director of SPSCC who hired Dr. Flowers 5. Early Leadership & Ambassadors: Sister Althea and Sister Joan Mitchell, Episcopalian nuns who helped start the daycare and school 6. Dr. Barbara Cambridge: Former trustee, Alumni grandparent, member of St. Philip’s Church, and our favorite chapel homilist 7. “Big John”: An eccentric and helpful fixture at St. Philip’s and The Stewpot in the 1980’s and 90’s 8. Nancy Dillard Lyon: Celebrated volunteer in 1980’s and early 90’s 9. Arch Kimbrough: Instrumental in SPSCC’s first building campaign in 1980’s 18
