A Word From The George T. Lee, Jr. Principal

Our School is LIT – Loving, Innovative, and Together

Adetermining factor in the success of a school is how it responds to adversity. In most instances, adversity is both inevitable and revealing of either strength or fragility. While our nation faced many challenges that impacted our school, St. Philip’s has exhibited a diamond's characteristics, shining under pressure. As we embarked on this new school year, our students and faculty dealt with the pandemic's impact, in addition to the need for racial reconciliation in this country. As a school, we are rising above these challenges by embracing the power of prayer, love, and togetherness.

The 2020-2021 school year theme is LIT: Loving, Innovative, Together. When something is lit, it is illuminated. In light of all of the challenges our students and community face, St. Philip’s faculty is poised and ready to shine.

In these unprecedented times, innovation and creativity are essential. We recognize that implementing true innovation doesn't happen without courage. As a school, we are blessed to improve our teaching and learning by adding the following critical resources thanks to the generous support of area foundations and major donors:

• 18 Swivl cameras to enhance our hybrid learning model • 65 New employee laptops • 240 new student devices • 6 desktop computers for common areas

In light of all of the challenges our students and community face, St. Philip’s faculty is poised and ready to shine.

• 3 Microsoft studio computers for art, technology, and the receptionist’s desk • 6 new online learning licenses

We recognize that technology is not enough to support our students; therefore, we have also hired additional academic support staff to provide individualized and small group instruction. We are ever committed to providing our students an exceptional educational experience that affords them with the opportunities to be intellectually driven, Christ-centered, exhibit inter and intrapersonal wellness, become servant leaders, and culturally aware with a mindset of social justice.

Although, we are learning using different tools, the mission of St. Philip's School and Community Center remains the same -- to offer students and families an unparalleled experience.

Sincere Regards,

Kellee Murrell
