It’s truly remarkable how musicians can evoke the emotions and sentiments of a composer solely from the written notes they left behind. Consider the fact that nearly two hundred years after Beethoven, we’re able to immerse ourselves in his world and feel the same passion he experienced. This enduring connection is nothing short of miraculous, serving as a testament to the profound impact of music on the human spirit.
Even in our advanced technological age, we still don’t know how music works its magic. But now we are entering a new era: Can AI really create the same emotions in us, or is the human touch still unique?
Personally (spoiler alert!), I think the human touch is essential. I love the communication that passes between composer, performer, and audience. What you personally bring to the concert is as important a contribution as anyone else in the hall.
It is easy to lose ourselves in the ceaseless noise of modernity. Yet, the symphony offers a sanctuary to disconnect from distractions and reconnect with our core. Join us and find yourself at the symphony!

“It is with a heavy heart, yet immense pride, that I reflect on the decision my late husband Leonard and I made to endow the Tuba Chair for the Spokane Symphony. As the Spokane Symphony’s tuba player for 48 years, Leonard’s passion for playing music was matched only by his commitment to the orchestra and his desire to see the symphony thrive.
While the pain of his recent passing is profound, there is some comfort in knowing that his legacy of anchoring the orchestra will live on. This endowment gift for the Leonard I.
