We bring the power of music to life.
This is more than a slogan — it’s a reflection of who we are.
Like our city, we are bold, creative, and driven by a shared belief in the power of community. We challenge expectations, pursue excellence, and strive every day to enrich the lives of those around us.
But don’t just take our word for it...
This year, we asked our audience how our concerts made them feel. Within these pages, you’ll find their words — paired with music from this season that embodies those emotions.
If you haven’t joined us before, we invite you to discover the magic of live orchestral music.
If you’re already part of our musical family, we’re thrilled to welcome you back.
Wherever you are on your journey, we bring the power of music to life!

We open our 80th season with Mahler’s titanic First Symphony; a vivid journey from mysterious dawn through fanfares, folk dances, and intense struggles, culminating in a blisteringly triumphant finale. Gustav Mahler forbade his new wife Alma from composing, claiming, “There is room for only one composer in the family.” We present some of Alma’s early songs, revealing a talented composer lost to the world.

Debussy’s Prélude à “L’après-midi d’un faune” opens with ethereal melodies, while the sound world of the Nordic landscape comes alive in Rautavaara’s Cantus arcticus, as recorded birdsong weaves through the composition. Grieg’s Peer Gynt features “Morning Mood” and the hair-raising “In the Hall of the Mountain King”— both pop-culture staples you’ll recognize instantly.

Butorac’s program features a favorite piece of his, Prokofiev’s Fifth Symphony, a powerful work written near the end of World War II that captures the struggle and optimism of the human spirit amidst wartime. The program is balanced by Mozart’s sweet and pure 4th violin concerto played by young prodigy Karisa Chiu.
