Robotics education is a brilliant gateway that prepares individuals for diverse and exciting careers in fields such as engineering, computer science, and project management. In this hands-on, dynamic extracurricular, students have the opportunity to design, construct, and experiment with robots, leading to participation in the VEX IQ competition. With the next season of gaming commencing in May, it’s crucial for students to begin forming teams and dedicating time to practice both building and competing. This year, SMGS is proud to host the Southern NSW competition, presenting a fantastic opportunity for participants to showcase their skills and potentially progress to the national level.
Students are required to bring their own laptop.
Writing Rulz @ SMGS is a dynamic and engaging cocurricular activity designed to inspire and motivate Stage 2 students to develop their writing skills and reach their full potential. This program focuses on teaching the structure and techniques of narrative and persuasive writing, equipping students with the tools they need to express their ideas effectively and creatively.
Publishing Days
At the end of each term, parents, carers, and friends are invited to celebrate the students’ progress during a special Publishing Afternoon event. Held on the second last Friday of each term, after school, these events showcase the students’ hard work as their written pieces are shared and celebrated with the school community.
Students will
• Gain confidence in writing for different purposes and audiences.
• Learn to plan, draft, edit, and publish their work.
• Receive encouragement and support to explore their creativity and refine their skills.
• Take pride in their accomplishments as their writing is shared with a real audience.
Please bring your favourite writing pencil or pen!
Collaborating with local run coach, Pablo Urena from Jindy Runners/Chase Running Co., our students will utilise the oval for running drills, challenges and games, focussing on fun and fitness under the warm Jindy sun!

There are a variety of roles that students can undertake including barrister, solicitor, witness, court officer and magistrates’ clerk. The trials often take place in local court houses, schools or online and they provide a wonderful experience for students who are interested in the law.
