Ahmedabad: After not getting relief from the Sessions Court in Surat, Rahul Gandhi has approached the Gujarat High Court in the defamation case related to Modi's surname. On behalf of Rahul, a request was made for an immediate hearing of the matter. The application was heard in the High Court on Saturday. The court accepted the request of prosecutor Purnesh Modi to produce documents on record. In such a situation, the matter will be heard on May 2. Currently, the case will be heard on May 2 with all the facts and there are indications that the case will be decided by May 5. Because the judge says that he is going to leave the country after May 5.

What is legal entanglement?

During the hearing on Saturday, public prosecutor Mitesh Amin said, at this stage the court has only to look at the seriousness of the case and both the magistrate and the sessions court have already considered the seriousness of the case. As far as the consideration of stay on conviction is concerned, it is not available to the petitioner. This is not a case where sentence can be stayed.

Rahul also filed petitions in the Surat court, one of which was dismissed by the court and the hearing of the other is scheduled for May 3.
