Hawk’s Nest Café opens in the County Fair Mall Maple Leaf Diamond!!

There’s a new watering hole inside the County Fair Mall. Hawk’s Nest Café opened its doors to community members and mallwalkers alike on Aug. 1. It’s the first restaurant to open since Guy Saumure & Sons saved the mall from the wrecking ball last December. “It was exactly what I was hoping for in terms of it becoming a community gathering point,” said owner Pat Wiseman, the man also responsible for filling up empty spaces in the mall, which will soon have a new name. The new café serves fresh, homemade desserts, savoury food (including an incredibly enticing chicken ranch poutine), sandwiches and soups, as well as specialty coffee offerings. “A focus on the freshness, that’s what we’re after,” said Wiseman. And the mall’s newest addition is welcomed by patrons who are already taking advantage of the new place to go. “I usually go for a walk around the mall, stop in for a coffee and chat,” said Dave Whalen, who has been to Hawk’s Nest every day since it’s Evelyn Harford/Metroland opened — a fact verified by one of Pat Wiseman, owner of the newly opened Hawk’s Nest Café in the County Fair Mall (soon to be renamed) the café’s new employees, Kim Charwith one of the cafe’s new employees, Kim Chartrand, on day-three of operations.
