Dear Members,

September certainly provided San Jose with many challenges The weather impacts on our course and operations are something we have not seen for such a prolonged period In total, we shuttered the course for 9 days and had multiple cart path only days We experienced well over 17 inches of rain which greatly impacted our course I would like to commend Josh Urbanac and the staff for all their efforts through a difficult stretch Hopefully, conditions improve, and we will be able to enjoy our beautiful course

A couple of updates from the board:

We are in the process of finalizing our budget for next year and will be presenting it to the members next month. Our staff and department heads have worked extremely hard to keep us financially sound and prudent in planning for our member experiences. Our long-awaited strategic plan will roll out between now and the end of the year. This will provide a blueprint for the club to move forward with a shared vision for our long-term growth. Thank you to Steven Frick for spearheading the process. We are also in By Laws review and will be presenting to the club proposed revisions to keep up with the ever-changing need for compliance and governance for our club

Club elections are underway so please vote and submit your ballot prior to October 8th Many challenges await the club, so participation is key to keeping San Jose going in the right direction

The board approved the continuation of The Legacy program so now is a great time to get your family into San Jose Membership is important and every new member helps the club meet its obligations and enhances the club experience for all

One final update on the fitness center as we near completion Our target is later this month with a formal opening to follow We are providing weekly video updates so check them out The renovated facility will be a great asset to our members See you at the club!

Sincerely,

MEMBERSHIP MATTERS

Greetings San Jose Country Club Members,

This month, we are also launching a new concept called Supper Club. This dining experience pays homage to classic Midwest American cuisine, featuring family-style servings of beloved dishes such as marry me chicken, braised beef short ribs, lasagna pinwheels, and crispy whitefish. Reservations for the Donald Ross dining room are now open.

In addition to the Supper Club, we have organized a taco-themed Bingo night buffet, Family Camp Night, Murder Mystery Dinner Show, and the highly anticipated FL/GA Oyster Roast We look forward to seeing you soon!

Please follow the established rules, inquire when you ’ re uncertain, allow faster players to pass, and practice proper course etiquette. Additionally, don’t forget to post your scores for handicap purposes These small actions contribute significantly to our golfing community

A quick reminder: Push carts and golf bags should not be placed in the Golf Shop hallway. We kindly ask that you allow our staff to assist you in bringing them around the building.

Congratulations....

We’re thrilled to share that the San Jose not only won our Area in the Jacksonville Summer Team League, which includes 25 clubs, but also scored the most points for the entire League during the regular season!

Here’s a snapshot of some of our amazing team members celebrating with our Area trophy Join us for more fun and success on the greens! SNAG JUNIOR GOLF

Dear San Jose Members,

We appreciate your understanding last month with the rain. Due to saturated soils, we could not mow most of our playing surfaces for two weeks, which caused our grass to grow much taller than usual before we could mow it.

Drainage is a problem at San Jose. We do not have as-builts for most of the work done on the property over the years. We are receiving quotes to have our drain lines scanned with GroundPenetrating Radar This will provide us with the necessary information to make sound decisions when we need to repair or replace drainage in the future.

On September 16th, we slit-seeded our range tees with ryegrass, the same practice we performed last year. Ryegrass will provide a playing surface that will recover quicker than Bermudagrass during the colder months. Once temperatures favor bermudagrass again, it will gradually outgrow the ryegrass, leaving bermudagrass.

Cordially,

Congratulations...

Sahana Chokshi just clinched victory at a Florida Junior Tour (FJT) event, marking it as a major 54-hole tournament.

Not only did she take home the win, but she also set a new FJT 54-hole scoring record! Congratulations, Sahana!

CUBSCORNER OCTOBER2024

HALLOWEEN

BARK RECEIPE

INGREDIENTS

200g white chocolate

1 tsp orange food coloring

75g dark chocolate

1 tsp black food coloring

70g orange, yellow and brown sweets, such as sugar-coated chocolate balls, popping candy, chocolate-coated peanuts, candy corn, sprinkles.

15g edible eyes

INSTRUCTIONS

Line a 23 x 33cm baking tray with baking parchment. Melt the white chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a pan of simmering water, making sure the bowl doesn’t touch the water, or microwave in 5second bursts until smooth. Stir through the orange food coloring and set aside.

In a separate bowl, melt the dark chocolate using the same method, then mix in the black colouring.

Pour the melted orange coloured chocolate into the lined tray and spread to the sides to an even layer. Drizzle over the black coloured chocolate and swirl it with the end of a skewer to make a pattern. Evenly sprinkle over the colored sweets and edible eyes. Chill for 1-2 hrs until set, then break into shards. Will keep for up to two weeks in an airtight container.
