Open House 

Sacred Heart Campus – Monday, September 11 – 6:30 P.M. – 8:00 P.M.

All parents are encouraged to attend the Open House scheduled for your child/children’s campus. At Sacred Heart Campus, I would like to address all of the parents for a brief meeting in the gym. Then teachers have planned presentations for parents to learn more about what to expect this school year. This is an opportunity meant for parents only. Parents will be able to move from one room to another. Each teacher will give a 20 minute presentation and give parents time to ask questions. Then the bell will ring and parents will be able to attend their next session. I will also be available throughout the evening to answer any questions, and listen to some of your suggestions.

Forms Due *Emergency Medical Form-upon receipt *Internet Policy Agreement Form-upon receipt *Photo Release Authorization-upon receipt *Signature Page for Parent/Student Handbook (coming home soon) *Free-Reduced Lunch Application (if applicable) *Cookie Dough Order Forms/Money

Changes Please notify the school office right away if you have a change in address or a phone number. It is very important that we have your current information on file. Thank you for taking care of this.

School Portrait Day School portraits will be taken at Sacred Heart Campus on Monday, September 18th. Order envelopes are included in this week’s family envelope. This is not a dress-up day for the students in grades K-6. Full uniform is required. NOTE: Students may dress up for Spring Portraits in the spring.

PTO Please mark your calendars for Monday, September 18, 2017, for the first PTO meeting of the year. The meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Media Center (3rd floor) at the SJCC Campus.

School Security The school doors at Sacred Heart Campus, as well as our Preschool, are locked throughout the day. At both campuses there is a door bell, that when pressed, will allow entrance into school. Please note that when ringing the bell at Sacred Heart Campus, the steel door is very heavy. When you are buzzed in, please pull VERY HARD on the door and it will open.

Parent and Student Handbook The 2017-18 school handbook will be coming home soon. Please read the contents of the handbook with your child(ren) carefully. We are asking that when you are finished reading the handbook that you and your child(ren) sign and return the attached signature page on or before Monday, September 19th.

Cookie Dough Information Money for the cookie dough/etc. is due when the forms are turned in on Thursday, September 14th. Please return both the white and yellow copies in the envelope with your child(ren)’s name on them. Delivery date for the cookie dough will be October 12th from 2:30-5:30 in the St. Joe small gym. Classes with 100% participation will win an ice cream and movie party.

Pals PALs (A sub group of PTO) are Parents/Guardians of current students within the Bishop Hoffman Catholic School system volunteering to be friendly resources and fun event planners for our families. PALs is a way for our BHCS family to grow and thrive and ensure that all of our BHCS family members have a means to find information, facilitate involvement, and foster a sense of community.

Once again, PALs will be operating as an offshoot of PTO for the 2017-2018 school year. We look forward to planning and holding fun social events throughout the school year to bring our BHCS families and parents together. We held our fun Back-to-School Party at the Fremont Country Club on August 20th and it was a great success...good times had by all! We are looking forward to our third (maybe fourth) Parent Meet and Greet at Buffalo Wild Wings on September 16th! Please see flyer. Please let me know your thoughts on how to best share with our families...we have some nice opportunities coming up where we could share the invite. Thanks! BHCS PALs

Free Dress-Down Day On Tuesday, September 19th there will be a Dress-Down Day for students who have returned all their signature pages from the following: Parent/Student Handbook Signature Page Emergency Medical Form Technology Use Form Free-Reduced Lunch Form (if applicable) Photo Release Form There are a number of forms still not turned in. Thank you in advance for returning these important papers.

Coming in October Mark your calendars for Grandparents/Grandfriends Day at each campus. Sacred Heart Campus will be held on Thursday, October 5th and SJCC Campus will be held on Friday, September 15th.

Parent Signatures Throughout the school year, we often send papers home that require parent signatures. It is very helpful to teachers and the school office to be able to recognize these signatures. Using initials or curly “Q signatures makes it difficult to figure out who the paper belongs to. We only ask for parent signatures when it is important, we appreciate it when we can recognize the signature. Thank you for your consideration in this matter.

Notes from Nurse Ashleigh Please see the letter from Nurse Ashleigh included in this monthly newsletter.
