Celebrates 75 years!

Fall 2019

Dear Alumni and Friends, SJCC, and all of Bishop Hoffman Catholic School, has identified the word “Belong” as the theme for this school year. The Catholic Identity Committee has done an excellent job in creating a mantra that truly represents what we are all about. As faculty and staff, students, parents, grandparents, coaches, alumni, boosters, and supporters we all belong to an educational community that takes pride in our school mission. There is a lot to be proud of when you belong to the community of Streaks. From our 100% graduation rate, to the millions of dollars in scholarships offered to our graduates, to our recent golf team that qualified for the State Championships, we continue to provide our students with opportunities for success in so multitudes of different ways. We are proud and blessed to belong to a community of Catholic parishes that continue to support the school’s mission and the students and families that we serve. The parishes continue to be BHCS’s largest donors. This year alone, Sacred Heart Parish will provide $250,000, St. Joseph Parish will provide $255,000, and St. Ann’s Parish will provide $65,000. Include the financial aid support we get from those same parishes, combined with St. Mary’s in Clyde and Millersville, and St. Wendelin’s in Fostoria, and we will receive over $675,000 in parish subsidy including financial aid! We are also proud and blessed to belong to such a strong network and community of parents, alumni and supporters that help us provide the best possible opportunity for our students each and every year. Our annual fund goal this year is $125,000. The annual fund is so important because the money directly contributes to all of our normal operating expenses like teacher salaries, building maintenance and upgrades, utilities, instruction supplies, and technology and directly impacts our yearly budget. Your contributions make a huge and lasting impact on the daily operation of our school and our ability to keep preparing for generations of Streaks to come. We hope that you are as proud as we are to belong to the SJCC and BHCS community and look forward to the successes we will continue to see from our current students and the many generations of Streaks yet to come! Anthony Fontana Head of School

On the Cover The class of 1944 celebrated their 75th class reunion at the Fremont Country Club this past summer. Of the nine living class members eight, were able to attend. Sister Rita Wasserman, Norma Jane (Meyer) Hetrick, Rita (Rodenhauser) Wagner, Bill Cronin, Bill Yeager, and Jim Kirwen in the back row. Eileen (Cullen) Graham from Illinois was unable to attend. She achieved this during SJCC’s sectional game versus Toledo Christian. She finished the season with 1,033 career assists, an impressive feat for a junior.
