Living in the World of Organized Chaos: Let's embrace imperfections!

Today, we live in what I like to call organized chaos. Life feels like a treadmill on overdrive, constantly chasing the next deadline, experience, and validation. Whether its work, traffic, or even a fun party at home, we rush to do everything right. Adding to this is the pressure of chasing perfection— the perfectly curated social media life, the immaculate home, the perfect family, and the never-ending hustle. In this symphony of organized chaos, we drown out the most essential aspect: Ourselves.

A recent long vacation to Europe showed me how time can stand still. People there are relaxed, always smile and take a few extra seconds to wish each other a good morning. In our country, we start our day stuck in traffic, cursing the car next to us, stressing over kids, worrying about the cook or the house help who arrived late.

This experience made me realize we need to let go. It's okay not to be perfect all the time, its okay not to be impeccably dressed, and it's okay if the house is a mess. We don't always need to belong. Let's ditch the pressure to be perfect or to be everywhere and everything at once. It's okay to not always "fit in."

Our cover star, Kartik Aaryan, embodies this spirit. A self-proclaimed "lone wolf," he gets candid about how he feels like a lone wolf and not an insider in the industry despite delivering so many hits. He reminds us that success doesn't require blending in. Being yourself and embracing the lone wolf mentality can be a great idea because, no matter what you do, fate will play out how it was intended.

Life is a journey, not a frantic race to the finish line. Let's savour the moments along the way. So, let's sit back, breathe, and relax. Life is too short

to worry. Let's embrace the beauty of imperfection and find peace in the chaos.

On that note, don’t miss out on our content-packed issue. Dive into startup journeys with Mira Kapoor's new skincare brand, Akind, discover the latest in retail, explore innovative art studios reshaping the Indian art scene, enjoy wellness interviews with celebrities, and learn about superfoods for a slimmer waist. Plus, travel to Arunachalam and uncover unique temples. It's all here in this exclusive issue!

Kartik Aaryan Lone Warrior

Kartik Aaryan’s latest film, ‘Chandu Champion,’ where he stars as Paralympic sportsman Murlikant Petkar, has garnered critical acclaim despite its lack of commercial success. Directed by Kabir Khan and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, this Hindi-language biographical sports drama showcases Aaryan as India's first Paralympic gold medalist. Lipika Varma captures Kartik Aaryan’s thoughts and insights in this exclusive conversation.

Following the massive success of ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2,’ in which Kartik reprised his role as Rooh Baba, he's now considered one of the most bankable stars in Bollywood. The muchanticipated ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3' is already generating buzz among fans eager to see more of Aaryan's captivating performances. Despite his rising stardom, Kartik still views himself as an outsider in the industry, referring to himself as a ‘Lone Warrior.’ In a candid interview, Kartik shared his experience of bringing the real-life hero Murlikant Petkar to life on screen in ‘Chandu Champion.’ He reflects on his unique journey in Bollywood.

Excerpts-

On Do’s and Don’ts’s for the character?

I had a lot of Dos to follow. Kabir sir [Khan] has changed my lifestyle—he handpicked trainers for me and decided on a special nutrition diet. As a boxer trainer, he essentially chose one that fits my skill set. A proper physio trainer was selected, and the best swimmers with professionally skilled know-how were trained to train me. My regime pattern changed drastically. I had insomnia. To proceed with the ‘Chandu Champion’ journey, I was asked to take 8 hours of sleep training in Dangal, athletics, boxing, and swimming to learn and bring perfection. I was told to start and continue with the film, and I needed to do all this rightfully.

I was asked to take 8 hours of sleep training in Dangal, athletics, boxing, and swimming to learn and bring perfection. I was told to start and continue with the film, and I needed to do all this rightfully.

Chandu Champion started his journey by losing weight and gaining muscularity?

My journey with Chandu Champion began with losing weight and gaining muscle. I was at 30% body fat, which was too much. I worked like a machine for two and a half hours daily, then came down to 7% body fat. For almost two and a half years, I just followed my regime, and my outside life had come to a standstill. I needed an athletic look, which should look like a sportsperson.

On a changed lifestyle after playing this real character on reel?

I cannot go back now; I love burning calories. I keep calculating how many calories I need and how much needs to be burnt. Following this lifestyle while preparing for the role in the film, I understood what was good for good health. I was eating cauliflower rice and am still used to the same eating habits. Usually, we like to have a heavy dinner, but now my mind has changed. I think anyone can follow this healthy lifestyle with the right mindset.

Chandu Champion is a turning point in his career?

This film is a turning point in my career. I’m sure audiences will love the movie. I have already received a reward, as my thinking and lifestyle have changed, bringing about an actual ‘U’ turn in myself. My style of approaching my own life has changed. I have experienced ‘Me Time,’ so I now introspect and reflect on life.

I cannot go back now; I love burning calories. I keep calculating how many calories I need and how much needs to be burnt. ''

Kartik is in love with his craft?

I think I love my craft more than myself. After doing this film, I always think about making changes to improve my craft. I am known for rom-com films. This time, I opted for a real movie like Chandu Champion. This choice of mine may be shocking for my fans.

Choosing genres or good scripts?

I never wanted to do only romcom films just because such films worked for me. I don’t look for any genre. However, I hear the narrations, and after hearing

the narration, if I like the script, I can choose a film in any genre.

After the narration by Kabir sir [Khan], I was very impressed by the intriguing storyline and thus decided to take it up.

Learning gymming and swimming with perfection?

I have been an athlete but have never been into gymming and nutrition. Earlier, I would perform push-ups halfway through and feel happy. While you perform any exercises, you have to perform them entirely and systematically. I am very comfortable in sports. I am a

sports freak and enjoy playing any sport. I have always played Cricket and Football. But I wasn’t into swimming and Dangal sports. While swimming, I learned only how to reach the corner; I wasn’t a professional swimmer. I would fear swimming into deep water. But after training in swimming for one and half years, we shot in the Olympic swimming pool, which is 15 feet deep.

On B.O. pressure?

There is a little pressure owing to my previous success as expectations increase. The numbers do well sometimes, but you may wonder why the film does not have a good opening. But now I understand every film has its journey, as every film has its set audience, so we should not have expectations as the opening will differ. We should not have genrespecific calculations in mind. I haven’t done the Chandu Champion kind of genre before. It is a serious film and an underdog story. If this film makes a profit, then the film is a hit. After the trailer release, everyone has huge expectations. Murlikant Petkar is an unsung hero, and such stories must be told.

Lastly, when Kartik is asked about his existence in B'Town and whether he feels like an insider, he replies, “No, I don’t feel I am an insider. I feel I am a 'lone warrior.'"

Redefine Skincare Explore to JOURNEY AKIND’S

Mira Kapoor, wife of Shahid Kapoor, unveils her new skincare brand, Akind. Rooted in simplicity and effectiveness, Akind offers barrier-focused products designed for all skin types, aiming to redefine beauty standards and promote holistic wellness. Sinduri Vuppala gets talking in an exclusive.

What inspired you to co-found Akind? Can you share the vision behind Akind and what you aim to achieve with this brand?

Launching Akind was inspired by my journey with skincare, rooted in simplicity and effectiveness. From observing my mother's timeless beauty rituals to navigating my skincare needs, I realized the importance of tailored care for skin barrier health. I decided to fill a gap in the market with Akind, our labor of love that embodies this philosophy, offering straightforward solutions prioritizing skin barrier health.

Our vision for Akind has always been clear: simplify skincare by listening to one’s needs and deliver targeted solutions through the Build, Balance, and Defence range. I want to empower individuals to feel confident and cared for in their skincare journey, regardless of gender or skin type. With Akind, we're not just offering products but fostering a community centered on authentic self-care and inclusivity. Through this brand, I hope to redefine beauty standards and promote wellness as a lifestyle. It's about making skincare understandable and practical for everyone.

What goes into developing Akind’s skincare products? How involved were you in the formulation and design of the products?

When developing Akind’s skincare products, I always considered myself a consumer. I approached every formulation and design decision with the mindset of someone who cares deeply about skincare and values simplicity, effectiveness, and authenticity. This perspective guided me to create products I would use and recommend, ensuring that each one addresses genuine skin care needs honestly and carefully. This consumer-centric approach drives Akind to deliver effective skincare solutions that resonate with our community's desire for straightforward, high-quality products.

I've been deeply involved and handson in every aspect of the brand design and product formulation. From conceptualizing the products to testing different formulations, it has also been a journey of discovery and refinement for me. This intensive process was worth it because the end products are something I genuinely have 100% faith in.

When developing Akind’s skincare products, I always considered myself a consumer. I approached every formulation and design decision with the mindset of someone who cares deeply about skincare and values simplicity, effectiveness, and authenticity.

Do you follow any personal skincare tips or routines that influenced Akind’s product line?

I've always had a personal approach that's evolved regarding skincare. For a very long time, I relied on skin oils for my daily face massages, believing they were the ultimate in hydration. However, I soon realized that oil-based products weren't ideal for my skin, which tends to be on the comedogenic side.

This realization inspired me to create something different, like Akind’s ‘On Cloud Nine’ moisturizer. Its light yet intensely nourishing, striking the perfect balance for a skin massage medium. This is just one example of how personal skin rituals have influenced the products we've crafted at Akind. It's all about learning from what works best for you and translating that into practical, accessible skincare solutions for everyone.

What are the current trends in the beauty and skincare industry, and how does Akind fit into these trends?

As someone deeply immersed in the skincare world, I've noticed a significant shift towards simplicity and efficacy. Consumers are increasingly gravitating towards practical and straightforward skincare: less about gimmicks and more about accurate results. This shift reflects a broader movement towards personalized skincare routines and holistic wellness.

Keeping this in mind, our products are designed to cut through the clutter and offer consumers skincare essentials that work, ensuring everyone can achieve their skincare goals without unnecessary complexity.

What do you think will be the next big trend in skincare?

I've seen this growing trend lately; it's all about skin barrier repair. People realize that a healthy skin barrier is the foundation of good skincare. Our skin's barrier can take a beating from environmental stressors, over-exfoliation, or just life.

At Akind, we've been in this movement from the start! Our products are designed to treat symptoms and nurture and support your skin's natural defenses. It's

about giving your skin what it needs to stay strong and resilient. I'm glad we've trail blazed this movement, and honestly, I'm excited to see more brands embrace this focus on skin health because it's such a fundamental part of skincare that it sometimes gets overlooked.

How do you balance your influencer, entrepreneur, and mother roles while managing your various ventures, including Akind?

Finding that balance isn't always easy, but I try it daily. Being a mother is my top priority, so that's where everything starts. I've learned to be efficient with my time, and I like to categorize rather than have several mental tabs open at all times. It's all about being present in each role, whether with my kids, working on Akind's strategy, or engaging with my audience. I've also surrounded myself with an incredible team and a loving family who support me every step of the way. It's a juggle, but I'm grateful for the opportunity to pursue my passions and make a difference in the things I care about.

How do you see your beauty brand evolving in the future? What are your plans/ strategies for the future?

Looking ahead, I see Akind evolving in a way that continues to prioritize simplicity, efficacy, and inclusivity. Our journey has been rooted in listening to our community and understanding their skincare needs deeply. As we move forward, we're committed to expanding our product line thoughtfully, introducing innovations that align with our philosophy of barrier repair solutions and personalized skincare.

Moreover, I'm excited about leveraging my platform to amplify conversations around self-care and wellness, reinforcing that skincare is not just about appearance but about nurturing one's overall health. We aim to empower individuals to feel confident and beautiful in their skin, regardless of gender or background.

Ultimately, Akind is not just a brand; it's a reflection of my journey and values. I look forward to seeing how we can continue to innovate and positively impact the skin care industry, offering products that resonate deeply with our community's needs.

What's next? Are there any other exciting projects on the cards?

Absolutely! Right now, Akind is my main focus, and I'm pouring my heart into it. I'm always up for exploring new avenues that resonate with my passion for wellness and beauty. Wellness as a tangible experience finding its way into your daily routine also precipitates an exciting project I am working on.

Hot Takes-

What’s your daily skincare routine? I like to keep it simple: Fresh Start Cleanser, Bounce Back Toner, Get Even Serum, On Cloud 9 moisturizer, and No Shade Sunscreen primer. It's pretty much the same at night, while I switch to Get Even for sleep tight and add an extra layer of On Cloud 9 instead of No Shade.

What are your top skin rules? Your skin will listen to you once you start listening to it. Keep it simple, and don’t overcomplicate it!

Must have in your beauty bag? Akind’s Stick With It Sun Stick!

One mantra you swear by. Less is more.

Utkarsh Gupta expressed his enthusiasm when asked about the current surge in sneaker culture and its impact on the brand's strategy. "The surge in sneaker culture is exhilarating for us. We're enjoying the benefits, but we're also actively contributing to shaping this culture in India. Many global brands have attempted to enter this space, often at inaccessible prices or limited availability. We believe that infusing our culture and stories into our shoes can significantly advance sneaker culture in India. This vision is at the heart of our strategy," said Gupta. Gaurav Tandon echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the cultural shift towards sneakers as symbols of style, identity, and community. "This shift has naturally driven our brand and the streetwear fashion industry. We're not just selling sneakers but offering an experience and a lifestyle. We design our sole molds and use 100% rubber in our soles, which sets us apart. This meticulous approach ensures our shoes are durable and long-lasting, promoting sustainability and reducing the environmental impact of rapid production cycles.

Balancing Sustainability with Sneaker Production

The fast-paced nature of sneaker production raises significant sustainability concerns. Utkarsh Gupta addressed this issue by highlighting Comet's commitment to high-quality, durable products. "At Comet, we invest over a year in perfecting a product before launching it. We design our sole molds and use 100% rubber in our soles, which sets us apart. This meticulous approach ensures our shoes are durable and longlasting, promoting sustainability and reducing the environmental impact of rapid production cycles."

Gaurav Tandon also acknowledged the importance of sustainability in the sneaker industry. "Sustainability is a crucial issue. Our primary focus has always been on delivering highquality products that are as durable as they are stylish. We constantly explore ways to integrate sustainable practices into our operations."

Leveraging Technology for Enhanced Customer Experience

Incorporating technology to enhance customer experience and drive brand loyalty is vital in the modern sneaker market. Utkarsh Gupta discussed Comet's approach, "We leverage technology by focusing on innovative design, unique concepts, and top-notch product quality. Gaurav Tandon elaborated on Limited Edt India's use of technology, "In our stores, we create interactive displays and unique experiences that blend the physical and digital worlds. Our VIP membership program uses facial recognition to grant access to exclusive areas in our stores. Additionally, our loyalty program uses data analytics to reward customers based on shopping behaviour, fostering a deeper connection with our brand.”

The rising trends of sneaker culture in India in 2024 showcase a dynamic blend of tradition and innovation. Brands like Comet and Limited Edt India are at the forefront of this movement, integrating storytelling, sustainability, and technology to create a unique and engaging experience for sneaker enthusiasts. As this culture continues to evolve, it promises to leave an indelible mark on the fashion landscape in India.

Surabhi Goel in conversation with Parul Yadav about her fitness regimen and wellness advice.

Many of your fans admire your fit body. What are your top fitness tips for staying motivated and consistent with workouts?

I follow a traditional approach to eating, preferring to consume something every two hours rather than practicing intermittent fasting, which I find challenging and not suitable for my lifestyle. As a vegetarian, my meals typically include a hearty Indian breakfast and lunch. At the same time, dinner is lighter, focusing on fibre, vegetables, and protein sources like dal, hummus, tofu, or sprouts. My daily fitness routine is quite intensive—I incorporate weight training every day, along

with sessions of belly dancing or Indian dance forms, and swim for one to two hours. Additionally, I ensure a minimum 40-minute walk each day. Being a loner has its advantages. It allows me ample free time to stay focused. During the post-COVID period, with fewer acting commitments, I used this solitude productively to write scripts and explore new ideas. I've found that solitude often sparks creativity and personal insights, which has benefited my overall well-being and career.

"DURING THE POST-COVID PERIOD, WITH FEWER ACTING COMMITMENTS, I USED THIS SOLITUDE PRODUCTIVELY TO WRITE SCRIPTS AND EXPLORE NEW IDEAS.

Could you describe your typical fitness routine? What types of exercises or workouts do you enjoy the most?

My typical fitness routine is quite diverse and balanced. I prioritize weight training for maintaining a toned physique without bulking up. Contrary to common myths, using lighter weights with higher repetitions is effective. I usually undergo weight training around mid-morning, from 11:00 AM to noon. In addition to weight training, I incorporate cardio exercises to complement my routine. I enjoy activities like belly dancing, Kathak dance, and swimming in the afternoon or early evening. This weight training and cardio mix helps me stay fit, toned, and energized throughout the day.

Nutrition plays a crucial role in fitness. Can you share some insights into your daily diet and any specific dietary preferences or tips you follow?

My approach revolves around balance and moderation. I focus on incorporating five essential elements in every meal: high fibre, adequate-protein, controlled carbs, minimal fat, and essential micronutrients. For instance, my mornings start with vegetarian options like one idli with a small portion of coconut chutney and generous sambar or tomato chutney. For breakfast, I might opt for avocado toast paired with sautéed mushrooms or cherry tomatoes, emphasizing fibre and healthy fats, complemented with hummus for protein. Lunch is typically traditional Indian fare: Dal, sabji, and a small

portion of either roti or rice. Around 4:00 PM, I enjoy afternoon snacks like mangoes, grapes, or mixed berries. Dinner leans towards continental cuisine favourites, including pumpkin lentil soup or roasted cauliflower, mushroom, and broccoli, often with hummus for added flavour and protein. I also incorporate shiitake noodles with plenty of vegetables for a lighter option. As a vegetarian, my protein sources include rajma, Chole, sprouts, and moong Dal chilla, ensuring balanced nutrition throughout the day. Portion control is crucial. I maintain consistent meal sizes and avoid exceeding my dietary limits to stay around 55-57 kg. While I indulge in sweets occasionally, I adjust my intake to balance out any deviations, adhering to a disciplined approach inspired by a dietitian I consulted since I was 16.

What advice do you have for individuals aspiring to achieve a healthy and fit lifestyle, especially those new to fitness?

I advise embracing a practical and sustainable approach within your cultural context. Avoid chasing after trendy Western diets or exotic ingredients like quinoa or sourdough bread if they aren't readily available in your local surroundings. Instead, focus on utilizing nutritious options from your Indian kitchen like Poha, sprouts, and Amaranth (rajgira) Atta is just as beneficial as quinoa, if not more, despite the allure of foreign names. Portion management is critical, and rather than strict fasting schedules or extreme diets, balanced meals with appropriate quantities are prioritized. This method ensures you stay satisfied and consistent in your dietary habits without unnecessary restrictions. Maintaining an Indian-centric approach also respects cultural norms and makes adhering to your nutritional goals easier without conflicting with familial meal traditions.

I consulted Dr. Dhurandhar, who worked with celebrities like Sridevi and Zeenat Aman for just ₹ 300 years ago. Nowadays, people are charged exorbitantly, even up to ₹ 1,00,000, for dietary advice or TV shows. Avoid these traps; honest professionals charge reasonable fees. From my experience, sticking to an Indian diet effectively manages weight. Dr. Dhurandhar emphasized that vegetarians can lose weight quickly, advocating for a vegetarian diet rooted in our cultural and dietary heritage.

Maintaining a balanced diet can be a struggle for many. Could you share some of your favourite healthy recipes or snacks that help you stay on track with your fitness goals?

Maintaining a balanced diet can be challenging, mainly when influenced by Western trends. It's about adapting local ingredients like idli with sambar or adding veggies to poha to suit my fitness goals. As a Gujarati, I've learned to balance carbs by enhancing dishes like thepla with paneer, avocado, and microgreens. Understanding portion control is crucial; I recommend not exceeding 180 grams of dal or vegetables in one serving to manage weight effectively. It's about how you eat, pairing carbs with protein and fibre for sustained energy and health.

DIRECTING IS A BIG STEP; MY TEAM BELIEVES I AM READY, BUT I'M STILL DECIDING. "

Lastly, what projects or goals are you working on in your acting career and fitness journey that you'd like to share with your fans and followers?

I've spent the last two years building my house, managing everything from design to finances. It's been a fulfilling creative process, and I just moved in recently. I've also been writing scripts during this time, and now I'm considering producing or directing one. Directing is a big step; my team believes I am ready, but I'm still deciding.

On the fitness side, I'm preparing for a role in a comedy film that requires me to lose a few inches to fit into glamorous outfits. Alongside this, I've been practicing intensely for three lively dance numbers in the movie. Balancing my creative projects with my fitness goals is a challenging but exciting time.

Who are your favourite male and female actors with what you consider the perfect physique, and what do you admire most about their dedication to fitness?

I admire Tiger Shroff for his impressive lean and muscular physique. His dedication to fitness is evident in how well he maintains his body. Allu Arjun stands out to me in the South for his commitment to fitness.

My fitness idol among female actors is Samantha Ruth Prabhu. Samantha's approach to fitness is inspiring. She manages to stay feminine yet toned, which is challenging when balancing roles that require strength and grace.

What activities do you find most calming and relaxing?

Watching documentaries and reading non-fiction, especially autobiographies, is most calming and enjoyable. I'm deeply immersed in real-life stories and factual accounts, which relax me and inspire my creative pursuits. Whether it's exploring new knowledge or drawing from real experiences, these activities are integral to my personal and professional interests.

Do you love traveling, and which is your favourite destination?

I love traveling, especially across Europe, but one trip I'm particularly excited about is my upcoming journey to Antarctica in January. It's a 23-day expedition that will challenge me physically as we navigate through the Drake Passage, known for its rough seas. I've been preparing my body for the cold and rigorous conditions, considering I have hypothyroidism and PCOD. It's a remote and pristine environment with no human inhabitants, just scientific stations.

WHITE RICE vs BROWN RICE

Unveiling the Nutritional Showdown

Rice, a staple in many cultures, is a grain that holds a significant place on our plates. The debate between white rice and its whole-grain counterpart, brown rice, is not just about taste but about health. The nutritional differences between these two varieties have sparked intense discussions among health enthusiasts. In this article, Dhanush Kumar dives into this intriguing showdown, helping you make an informed choice for a healthier lifestyle.

Nutrient Density:

Brown rice, being a whole grain, emerges as the clear winner regarding nutrient density. During the milling process that transforms brown rice into white, the nutrient-rich bran and germ layers are stripped away, leaving behind primarily the starchy endosperm. Brown rice boasts a higher fibre content, manganese, magnesium, and several B Vitamins, including thiamine, niacin, and vitamin B6.

One of the most significant advantages of brown rice is its impressive fibre content. Fibre is like a superhero for your body, promoting feelings of fullness, aiding digestion, and supporting healthy bowel movements. By choosing brown rice over white, you're giving your body a powerful tool to help you feel fuller for longer and keep your digestive system in top shape.

Fibre:

Antioxidant Power:

Brown rice contains more antioxidants, such as ferulic acid, and plant pigments, like anthocyanins, than its white counterpart. These antioxidants play a vital role in combating free radicals, which can contribute to oxidative stress and various chronic diseases. Incorporating brown rice into your diet will provide your body with a natural source of these protective compounds.

Versatility:

Despite brown rice's nutritional advantages, some may find its nuttier flavour and slightly chewy texture less appealing than the delicate fluffiness of white rice. However, with creativity in the kitchen and the right seasonings and accompaniments, brown rice can be transformed into a flavourful and satisfying dish.

Weight Management:

Due to its higher fibre content and lower glycemic index, brown rice may be more beneficial for weight management than white rice. The fibre in brown rice promotes feelings of fullness, potentially reducing overall calorie intake. The slower release of glucose into the bloodstream can help regulate appetite and prevent energy crashes that often lead to overeating.

You need to wait and watch for that Khaas thing.

How was your experience hosting for the OTT platform this time?

I was excited about hosting this time. Availing this opportunity to host on the Jio Cinema OTT platform for BB3 was something new for me. I always like to adventure with fresh and new stuff. I am looking forward to it. Also, I had a different feeling like, Yar aisa kabhi kiya nahi hai, toh maza ayega isse karne mein. You try to give your best when you go with this thought process. Doing something new has always enticed me, and if you look back at my career graph, you will notice that it has given me innumerable chances to try it out. This being new and fresh stuff, I enjoyed doing it and was keen on learning more about it. I also did ‘Night Manager’ for OTT. I got to do something out of the box and also learned a lot while doing it. I got a good exposure through it.

You also ventured into doing English films. How did this happen?

I also tried performing in English films/shows apart from doing Hindi films and having garnered oodles of love from my Hindi audiences. I have done ‘Slumdog Millionaire,’ ‘Who Wants to Be Millionaire’ [Kaun Banega Corerpati] in English. This was the first opportunity for me to be doing an English show. I called director Siddhartha [Basu] to learn everything about it. We made a look-alike mock chair on which Amitji [Amitabh Bachchan] sits; I tried to learn from the team. You always want the blessings and encouragement from one and all. The team also needs to be good. With this season of BB, we want to give our fans something great, so they find it exciting and hold on to the show.

You have been successful in your job, but whenever you start anything, you always have a fear within you. How would you explain this fear?

This fear in me keeps me going; without this, you would never be able to give your best. One should never feel overconfident. You need to use your anxiousness and your fear so that you will try to do your best. I have done everything with my inner fear; I never started my journey on any project thinking, Yeh toh kuch nahi hai, mere bayen haath ka khel hai; it’s only because I took a step forward with that fear that I have been able to reach here today.

What is your take on the hosts of variety shows?

There are many fantastic, relatable reality shows down South and North. These shows have entertained people nationally and internationally. Amitji [Amitabh Bachchan] has hosted KBC, and Salman [Khan] has hosted BB’s every season. Kapil Sharma’s comedy show and Koffee with Karan, all these shows have garnered huge eyeballs and received accolades. These shows have made a pivotal landmark. People will always cherish them as they have left an incredible mark on the minds of the audiences. Everyone admires them as they hold a special place in everyone's hearts.

How do you always give freshness/newness and a one-up performance?

You have to keep on learning and improving your craft. One should learn more from failures than successes. You learn more from the hardships, conflicts, and humiliations you face during your journey. All these things I have seen in the 45 years of my journey have made me richer in experience. Having these in your memories, you try not to repeat the mistakes that you have made. We also watch

the mistakes people around us may have committed and learn from that as well. Having made up from where I started my life, meeting people from all walks of life- talented people, Philanthropists, great performers, businessmen, and politicians; I think about them and learn from what they speak. Bus yehi kehna chahunga maza aata hai- I am blessed that after going through so much, I am getting work.

What is the mantra of your success?

I feel it’s a combination of a lot of hard work. About myself, I can just say I have tried to give my best—mehant bahut ki aur abhi bhi kar raha hoon. There has been no day where I haven't compromised as a person or human. With whatever strength and capacity I possess, I have done it all wholeheartedly. I have retained my consistency only because I have always worked with good teams, Iske elava kuch nahi hota hai

What do you think about yourself as the following?

A Husband- As a husband, I can still be better.

A Dad- I could have been much better at giving more time to my family. I did my best, but owing to my busy work schedule, I feel I could have done better.

A Grandfather- I wish I could spend more time with the little one [Sonam's daughter]. They are in London, and we live here in India. But thanks to technology, we try to interact with the little one daily. We love to talk to her and feel happy. Sometimes, Sunita [wife] and I watch videos of her and enjoy those moments.

On response you receive from Sunita [Wife] - I always get half preference because she is the host and the big boss of the house. Even today, if there are some guests, I am asked to settle down in some corner of the house and leave my room for the guests. [Laughs]
