From the E DITOR
Are you fuelled by FOMO?

Enter 2025 and there was just one thing on everybody's mind- the Maha Kumbh Mela at Prayagraj. For the past few weeks, it seemed like that was all the entire country was talking about. News channels, social media feeds, and even WhatsApp forwards were all abuzz with one topic – The Maha Kumbh. As I reflected on my own experience, I realised that there were three kinds of people who made the effort to attend this massive event.
The first group consisted of genuine spiritual believers who were drawn to the Kumbh for its deep cultural and religious significance. For them, the Kumbh was just another exotic backdrop to add to their social media portfolios.
The second group consisted of the so-called Instagram enthusiasts who were solely interested in capturing the perfect photo opportunity. But it was the third group that worried me the most – the FOMO crowd. These individuals had no real understanding of the Kumbh's significance or cultural importance. They were there simply to tick off another item on their bucket list, to boast about their attendance on social media, or to impress their friends with their supposed spiritual credentials.
As I observed this phenomenon, I couldn't help but wonder: what's driving this obsession with FOMO? Why are we so desperate to keep up with the latest trends, attend every hip event, and document every moment on social media?
For me, this raises deeper questions about our values and priorities. Have we lost sight of what truly matters? Are we so consumed by the fear of missing out that we've forgotten how to live in the moment, to enjoy experiences for their own sake, and to cultivate meaningful connections with others?
It's time for us to take a step back and reassess our relationship with FOMO. Let's stop letting the fear of missing out dictate our lives. Instead, let's focus on living intentionally, pursuing

our passions, and cultivating a sense of purpose that goes beyond the latest social media trends.
So, I ask you: what kind of person are you? Are you driven by FOMO, or do you live life on your own terms? But what if I told you that there's something truly worth getting excited about?
Our March issue is packed with incredible content that will captivate, inspire, and inform you. From Kushi Kapoor's candid interview to the latest trends in food, travel, and tech, we've got you covered. This issue is all about exploration and discovery – whether it's trying out new cocktail trends, exploring India's top water adventure destinations, or unlocking the secrets of rice water for skin, hair, and weight loss.

Varma
KUSHI KAPOOR

How does it feel to be transitioning from OTT to the big screen?
It’s exciting to be starting my stint on the big screen. Besides, the process was different. Not much difference in performance - be it OTT or big screen, but the scripts are different from what I understand after shooting this film. We also have expectations at the box office when a film is released on a Friday. It’s not something I have thought of before. I think the pressure and the stress are there in the head. Both experiences are different in their way.
As a producer’s daughter, what have you learned from Boney Kapoor?
My co-actor is also a producer [smiles], but I don’t focus on that aspect. I see myself as a student on set, always eager to learn. I strive to be the best student, listening to everyone and absorbing as much as I can while working.
Why haven’t you or your siblings - Arjun, or Janhvi debuted under Boney Kapoor’s banner?
It's not like we have to go to Papa and ask him to make a film for us. Requesting like, please- make a film for us. We have to work in this industry. I don’t think taking up the first film within the family would be the correct decision.
I SEE MYSELF AS A STUDENT ON SET, ALWAYS EAGER TO LEARN. I STRIVE TO BE THE BEST STUDENT, LISTENING TO EVERYONE AND ABSORBING AS MUCH AS I CAN WHILE WORKING.
AFTER DOING, LOVEYAPPA
I JUST REALIZED, I LOVE RONA- DHONA, SERIOUS AND MORE EMOTIONAL ONES.
As reported Sridevi [mom] didn’t wish both sisters to take up filmy careers. Did she ever express this feeling to you?
Yes, casually she may have said to us -This isn’t the ideal profession for us. As an actor different factors come into being an actor, it’s not just going to the sets, shooting, and going back home. That’s the easy part of the job. Externally and mentally, it puts a lot of pressure on you if you are not equipped to handle it. Then vanity is a part of being an actor. The societal pressure and what people have to say, you have to be able to take that criticism. It's a bit hard for someone who is not prepared for it so she was trying to safeguard us. Both Janhvi and I wanted to be in it, we were sure about it.
Would you like to do any remake of her films? Which is your favourite film of your Mom?
I would never want to remake any of her films. Those were her films and I don’t think I will be able to do justice. My favourite film of my mom's is, ‘Sadma’. I would love to do my own films.
Would you like to do more serious roles over glamorous ones?
After doing, Loveyappa I just realized, I love rona- dhona, serious and more emotional ones. Glamorous roles are fun indeed, but now, I am gravitating more toward serious roles.
Is there any sibling rivalry between you and Janhvi?
I think, even having talked about this, the thought of not being happy for each other’s success is so bizarre because it is a very common thing for people to think that two siblings in an industry sister can’t possibly have ill feelings for each other working in the same universe. It’s so bizarre for me to even think of this concept. A win for her is a win for me and vice versa. I feel wired to even grasp any kind of rivalry.

Janhvi told us in our first interaction that she always extends motherly affection towards you after the loss of your mom. How much does Janhvi advise you?
Yes, I am very close to her and always look up to my sister. She does the best for me always; we do a lot together this brings us closer to each other. She is a stylist, my manager, best friend and assistant. Sometimes I am the same.
I don’t make any decision without talking to Janhvi -Be it taking up any project, styling, or anything professional or personal. She is my go-to person.
When you sit together with all your Kapoor (Sonam, Arjun, Janhvi, and Harshvardhan) siblings, what do you discuss and who do you follow from among the siblings?
I don’t think I would like to follow anyone. This is my path so I have to pave it on my own. Everyone’s journey has to be different but it’s great to see so many different journeys from your family, of all you get a fresh perspective of things.
When we meet together, we don’t just discuss films we also talk about the happenings on the home front. Dadi is the most interesting individual in the entire ‘Kapoor” family. We are relatively a normal family that just happens to be in the public eye.
Would we see you working down in South Films?
It’s like, never say never to working down the South. Yes, if the story is good someday, I would like to work down South. However, I feel it’s too early for me to think about it.
Do you speak Tamil fluently since your mom is a Tamilian?
I can understand Tamil a little, as my mom spoke it at home. However, Mom would keep switching from Tamil to Telugu and Malayalam. I find very little difference in Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam, however, I am not very fluent in speaking it.

Glee-ding into New Flings
Sybil Shiddel, the country manager of Gleeden, observes, “Throuples and open marriages have become frequent if not common, illustrating how modern love transcends traditional marriage boundaries.” Gleeden.com emerges as a trailblazer in this evolving landscape, providing an empowering and discreet space for those seeking connections beyond their commitments. Operated by women for women, the platform fosters a safe, nonjudgmental environment where women evaluate men and enjoy free access. With India embracing these shifting relationship dynamics, a post-pandemic surge has led millions to explore non-traditional connections.
Gleeden champions transparency and redefines love by offering a secure space for women to explore their desires. Sybil Shiddel, overseeing Gleeden in India, speaks with Surabhi Goel about how the platform is reshaping discreet relationships among married individuals.

Gleeden has a unique positioning as a dating app for married individuals. What led to the idea behind launching it, and how has the reception been in France and India?
The idea behind launching Gleeden originated from a gap in the dating app market in 2009, where many users on traditional platforms sought discreet encounters rather than genuine love or marriage. The founders aimed to create a space for individuals to connect based on shared marital status without deception.
Gleeden’s initial test launch in France, known for its relaxed attitudes toward infidelity, was a success. Even before the platform was fully ready, word-of-mouth promotion led to over 100,000 subscribers in just one week. After expanding into Italy, Gleeden identified rising interest in India in 2017, prompting them to adapt the platform for the Indian market. This successful launch reflects a growing acceptance of diverse relationship structures in the region.
Sybil Shiddel

Since launching Gleeden in India in 2017, how has the Indian market responded to the concept of extramarital dating?
Since launching Gleeden in India in 2017, the response to extramarital dating has been fascinating. India presents a unique blend of traditional values and open-mindedness regarding relationships. While infidelity is often stigmatized, many people feel compelled to hide their desires due to societal pressures. With a low divorce rate, many couples find it challenging to leave unsatisfactory marriages, leading individuals to seek discreet connections that fulfil emotional or romantic needs.
Gleeden offers a safe platform for users to connect with others in similar situations, allowing them to explore relationships without judgment. This service caters to those who crave companionship and understanding, providing a spark that many individuals can no longer find in their current marriages.
What challenges did you face when launching in India, and how did you adapt the app to fit local preferences?
Launching Gleeden in India came with challenges due to the cultural stigma around infidelity. We focused on creating a safe environment for users to connect openly, emphasizing transparency and honesty.
To adapt the app to local preferences, we encouraged users to be upfront about their intentions, avoiding deception. Our goal is to provide a discreet platform for those in unsatisfying marriages to find joy and companionship. Many individuals seek to reignite excitement in their lives, similar to how long-term relationships can lose their spark. Gleeden helps users reconnect with their desires respectfully.

Gleeden offers a safe platform for users to connect with others in similar situations, allowing them to explore relationships without judgment.
Given the sensitive nature of Gleeden’s service, how do you ensure user privacy and security, especially in markets like India where privacy concerns are high?
At Gleeden, user privacy and security are our top priorities, especially in markets like India where these concerns are paramount. Firstly, profile pictures are not mandatory, allowing users to maintain anonymity. For those who choose to share images, we offer private albums that are encrypted, and we strictly prohibit any pornographic content on our platform.
All user data, including conversations, is encrypted using the latest technology. Additionally, users can control who views their pictures and have the option to revoke access at any time. If they feel uncomfortable with someone, they can easily block that user.
Regarding payments, we protect our members' privacy by using aliases on bank statements, ensuring that no transaction appears linked to Gleeden. We also accept prepaid cards and cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin for added discretion.
For extra security, our platform includes features like ‘discreet mode,’ which disguises the app as a standard social media interface, allowing for quick exits if needed. These combined measures create a safe environment for our users to explore connections while protecting their privacy.
What sets Gleeden apart from other international dating platforms that cater to a similar audience?
Gleeden stands out from other dating platforms by promoting a thoughtful approach we call ‘slow love.’" Instead of rushing into connections, we encourage meaningful interactions that help users find what they may be missing in their lives.
Our platform requires communication before using chat features, fostering genuine conversations. We prioritize women's empowerment, ensuring men earn the right to connect through sincerity and effort.
Designed to discourage harassment and superficial messages, Gleeden creates a safe environment where women can explore their desires discreetly. Ultimately, we focus on tailoring the dating experience to women's needs, allowing them to take the lead in their journeys.
In a rapidly evolving digital landscape, how do you see Gleeden’s role in shaping the future of online dating, particularly in India?
Gleeden is reshaping the online dating landscape in India by offering a discreet platform that prioritizes user privacy. Many users transition from traditional dating apps to seek the anonymity and security we provide. This highlights a growing demand for privacy in an increasingly exposed world.
We believe traditional dating apps can learn from our model by incorporating similar privacy-focused features. Gleeden sets a standard in the dating industry, emphasizing the importance of a secure environment for individuals exploring their desires.

TRASH TO FAB: Conscious Couture
The rise of sustainable Indian fashion brands marks a shift towards eco-conscious living, with names like Iro Iro, Baroodi, LataSita, and The Good Doll leading the way by using upcycled and recycled fabrics for clothing and toys. As fast fashion poses environmental challenges, ethical brands embrace creativity to offer stylish, planet-friendly alternatives, such as fabric dolls and apparel made from cotton, wool, and waste textiles. This movement highlights sustainability’s role in reshaping the industry, a vision championed by Surabhi Goel, who focuses on waste fabrics in major brands. Surabhi Goel highlights sustainability in major brands, focusing on waste fabrics for clothing and fabric dolls.
Iro Iro

The Journey of the Founder
For Bhaavya Goenka, founder of IRO IRO, purpose has always been at the heart of her work. "It all started in 2016 with a system design project where I addressed the waste problem in apparel manufacturing. By weaving waste into garments, I realized this was something I wanted to take forward," she shares.

A graduate of the Indian Institute of Craft and Design, Goenka credits the school’s unique approach to design for shaping her perspective. "The school taught me to bridge the gap between design and crafts," she explains. Today, she's turning waste into an opportunity as an associate researcher at the Centre for Circular Design, University of the Arts London, and regional head for Jaipur at Fashion Revolution. IRO IRO has already diverted over five tons of discarded material from landfills, creating sustainable textiles and garments from fabric scraps sourced across India and Singapore.

Bhaavya Goenka
Inspiration behind the Brand
"IRO IRO was born from a deep concern for the environment and a desire to work ethically," shares Bhaavya Goenka. "The more I learned about the industry, the more I wanted to run away from it. That’s when I began exploring ways to craft garments without exploitation, using waste textiles to create new fabrics."
Growing up around her parents’ garment business, Goenka witnessed first-hand the sheer volume of waste generated in fashion. "I remember trucks full of fabric scraps being taken to landfills or burned nearby," she recalls. These early experiences, paired with her training in crafts and textile design, inspired her to reimagine waste into opportunity, creating textiles that support villages and champion ethical practices.
Sustainability Practices
"Our process is decentralized," explains Bhaavya Goenka. "We create income opportunities within villages, ensuring we don’t disrupt their lifestyles or quality of life."
IRO IRO redefines sustainability by transforming waste from factories into beautiful textiles. "We collect, sort, design, and weave, all while blending indigenous aesthetics with global appeal," she shares. The brand collaborates with businesses and directly sources materials, empowering around 20 craftspeople and women from non-craft backgrounds to earn a sustainable income. "It’s about preserving traditions, supporting communities, and redefining what sustainable fashion means."

USP
"Our uniqueness lies in rediscovering Indian identity and decolonizing design," says Bhaavya Goenka. "Take our deconstructed sari, it’s traditional yet modern, with each piece wearable individually or as a complete sari."
IRO IRO challenges norms by positioning waste as a premium product and merging storytelling with sustainability. "We’re not just a fashion label; we’re a creative waste management service, helping organizations close the loop on textile waste," explains Goenka. The brand’s approach showcases how waste can be meaningful, luxurious, and transformative.
Favorite destination?
Auroville has been a significant source of inspiration for me. I spent 10–15 days there in 2017, and it reshaped how I approach making things. Auroville embodies a sense of equitable practices, even though it exists in its bubble and has its challenges. I learned we don’t have to follow traditional methods and can explore equitable, innovative approaches.

A hobby that keeps you motivated?
I love reading and writing—they allow me to absorb knowledge and express myself. It’s like having honest conversations with myself, keeping me grounded and critical. Reading, in particular, lets me explore different worlds without ever leaving my space.
How do you unwind after a busy day?
I take a moment to breathe and move my body to relieve stress. Watching something light or spending time with friends also helps me relax.
How do you connect with nature in your daily life or free time?
I stay connected by grounding myself in nature—whether in parks or through self-awareness. In our concrete world, it’s about finding moments of stillness and connection within.
What is one item you never leave home without?
My Diary, which I write daily.
Inspiration behind the Brand
"My brand wasn't born out of a need to be sustainable, it was a natural extension of my upbringing and surroundings. My father, a passionate gardener, influenced me deeply. Watching him reuse and repurpose items in creative ways taught me to see potential in everything. Even as a child, I’d customize action figures, turning the ordinary into something unique and personal." "Our name, 'Baroodi,' means 'made of gunpowder,' symbolizing boldness and resilience. This ethos is reflected in everything we do, from working with unconventional models like a Punjabi farmer who’s now a runway star, to creating pieces that honour the history and struggles of the lands we draw from."
"I’ve always been drawn to the idea of giving textiles a second life. For instance, I’ve turned heirloom pashmina shawls exclusive pieces passed down for generations, into modern silhouettes that align with today’s sensibilities while honouring their legacy."
The Journey of the Founder
"My journey began in Punjab, crafting jackets at home while freelancing in multiple disciplines. I’m not just a designer—I’m an artist, engineer, and storyteller. I’ve directed theatre, built motorcycles, and even worked in exhibition design. This varied background shaped Baroodi into what it is today—a brand deeply rooted in creativity and craftsmanship."
"It all started with making clothes for myself, experimenting with textiles, and sharing them on Instagram. When people showed interest, I followed the flow and gradually developed a brand that bridges tradition and innovation. The journey has taken me from Punjab to Delhi and beyond, always evolving yet staying connected to my roots."

Favorite Destination?
Traveling deeply inspires my work and values. I’ve created a system that allows me to move between Delhi, Mumbai, and Goa, each offering unique energy and poetic charm. These places recharge me creatively. I’ve also drawn inspiration from Europe, exploring its colonial history and cultural nuances.
A hobby that keeps you motivated?
Collecting music and listening to it loudly energizes me while gathering artefacts keeps me inspired and constantly engaged like a hoarder.
How do you unwind after a busy day?
Music is always my go-to, but lately, I’ve found myself drawn to comedy shows. After fast-paced, intense days, comedy offers the perfect escape. I’m grateful for the growing comedy scene in our country. It’s a refreshing and much-needed source of entertainment.
How do you connect with nature in your daily life or free time?
My home is surrounded by nature. I have around 500 to 600 plants and wake up immersed in
USP
"What sets Baroodi apart is its theatricality and focus on storytelling. Our designs go beyond fashion—they are experiences. For instance, our pashmina jackets aren’t just garments; they’re heirlooms meant to be treasured and passed down through generations."

greenery. I also have 10 dogs, many of them rescues, and often see hummingbirds and parrots visiting. I’m deeply drawn to the sea as well, always chasing beaches and the tranquillity they bring. Plants, animals, and nature are constants in my life.
What is one item you never leave home without?
It has to be my phone. After everything, I’ve realized it’s practically an extension of me. I’ve tried spending a day without it, and it made me appreciate how much I rely on it like for communication, connection, and all the little conveniences we often take for granted.
The Good Doll

Inspiration Behind the Brand
Suhas Ramegowda and Sunita were deeply inspired by the gap they saw in the market for dolls that truly represented Indian children. They noticed that existing dolls were often plastic and Barbie-like, which didn’t reflect Indian heritage or culture.
“We could see that there was a real problem, children didn’t have relatable dolls that looked like them. Friends and family often pointed out that there were no dolls that mirrored their identity.”
This inspired them to create dolls that were not only visually appealing but also empowering, reflecting Indian values and diversity. Through storytelling related to sustainability and inclusivity, the brand fosters a more inclusive mind-set, ensuring that no child feels marginalized based on appearance or skin tone.
The Journey of the Founder
Suhas and Sunita began their journey in 2017 after deciding to leave the corporate world and live a more meaningful, sustainable life. “Both Sunita and I were typical city folks, spending over 15 years working in the corporate world across different parts of India. By 2017, we were ready for a change. We moved to the Nilgiris, built a house off the grid, and started a sustainable lifestyle.” Initially focused on living off the grid, they transitioned into building a social enterprise that supports local communities through craft-based work.

Sustainability Practices
The foundation of The Good Doll is sustainability, starting from sourcing raw materials to production. “We source most of our materials locally from Tamil Nadu, which significantly reduces our carbon footprint. We also work with factories that send us their textile waste, which we upcycle into smaller products, ensuring zero waste.” Every step from using handmade processes to eliminating waste reflects the brand’s commitment to sustainability.

Suhas Ramegowda and Sunita

Favorite Destination?
My favourite destination is the mountains where I live. We enjoy staying close to nature and finding peace in our surroundings. Traveling only happens when it's necessary for work, and we always look forward to returning home to this beautiful, serene environment.
A hobby that keeps you motivated?
The hobby that keeps me motivated is working in our garden. Living in a rural landscape, we strive for self-sufficiency and handle most household chores ourselves. Alongside maintaining our garden, I enjoy hiking and exploring nature around us. Additionally, I’m writing a book about our journey, from city life to living in the mountains which offers a deeper insight into our transition and experiences.
How do you unwind after a busy day?
After a busy day, Sunita and I unwind by going for a short hike or a walk. During this time, we reflect
USP
The Good Doll’s unique selling proposition lies in its detailed craftsmanship and cultural relevance. Suhas explains, “Our dolls are not just dolls; they are miniature versions of real garments. This provides children with an experience of handling real clothing, fostering creativity and learning.” Additionally, the dolls reflect inclusivity, featuring different skin tones and looks to ensure children feel represented. “When a child looks at these dolls, they immediately see someone who looks like them or someone from their family.”
The Good Doll has had a significant positive impact on the environment by reducing plastic use and repurposing textile waste. “Every doll we sell replaces plastic in households, and through upcycling textile waste, we are ensuring that minimal waste goes to landfills.
on the day, discuss what happened, share our experiences, and let go of any mental baggage. It helps us connect and relax before we move on to cooking and enjoying a meal together.
How do you connect with nature in your daily life or free time?
Since we live in the wilderness, we’re constantly connected to nature. There are days when we take our laptops on hikes and work in forested areas, spending the entire day surrounded by nature. It’s a seamless connection, and we don’t need to do anything extra to feel connected.
What is one item you never leave home without?
The only thing we never leave home without is our mind-set. Whether it’s a hike or a daily activity, our approach to life and sustainability always stays with us.
Inspiration behind the Brand
LataSita
Meghna Nayak’s journey to LataSita was born from a deep concern for sustainability and a desire to challenge exploitative fashion practices. “I studied journalism in Cornwall to be an environmental journalist. Sustainability, sweatshop culture, and alternative lifestyles occupied me,” she shares. Despite her initial scepticism of the fashion industry as "frivolous," her return to India made her aware of the waste and pollution caused by the industry. She explains, “I realized I could enter the fashion supply chain and try, first-hand, to do things differently.”
The breakthrough moment came when her mother opened her wardrobe, revealing sarees inherited from her grandmother. “It felt like an instant, intimate connection,” Meghna recalls. She recognized that countless sarees across the country lay unused, holding deep emotional value but remaining impractical for everyday wear. This insight inspired her to repurpose these heirlooms into new garments, combining nostalgia with a minimal carbon footprint.
The Journey of the Founder
Starting with a one-room studio and her meagre savings in 2012, Meghna embarked on her journey to revolutionize the fashion industry. Having returned to Kolkata after nearly seven years in England, she worked as a journalist but found writing about change less fulfilling than actively creating it. “Writing about what people should do was less satisfying than actually doing it myself,” she says.
Her mission was to challenge fast fashion and redefine the perception of old textiles. "I have sourced cloth not just from people’s wardrobes; I have bought entire Puja pandals because the cloth was going to be dumped into landfill," she reveals.
The initial challenge was overcoming societal resistance to upcycling in India, where newness is aspirational. “Old comes with superstitions, myths, and even a negative connotation like ‘uttaran,’ which means old clothes,” Meghna explains. Despite this, her horror at the exploitative practices in fashion drove her forward. “The fashion industry doesn’t promote or sell sustainability. Cheap, mass production is prioritized, and treating labourers poorly is encouraged,” she laments.
Through perseverance, Meghna has built LataSita as a niche yet impactful brand, gaining recognition among younger generations who are more open to thrifting and sustainable practices.

Meghna Nayak
Sustainability Practices
Sustainability is at the core of LataSita. The brand champions upcycling, primarily using sarees sourced directly from women's wardrobes, heirloom collections, or even unexpected places like Durga Puja pandals.
“In using the upcycled saree, I found something that not only had a charming sense of newness and nostalgia but also the smallest carbon footprint,” Meghna explains.
She critiques the superficiality of “greenwashing” in the industry.
“Sustainability has become a buzzword. Just using organic cotton doesn’t make a brand sustainable, it’s about waste management, paying fair wages, packaging choices, and ensuring a net positive social impact,” Meghna states.
LataSita’s designs are tailored to be long-lasting and adaptable, accommodating changes in body shape. “The most sustainable garment is the one you didn’t buy. Our designs accommodate you whether you lose or gain weight so that they can be worn for years,” she explains.

Favorite Destination?
Traveling for work takes me across the globe, but my biggest inspiration comes from Kolkata and West Bengal. The artistry and talent here, often overlooked, deeply move me. Seeing master artisans struggle motivates me to celebrate and support the beauty of my home city.
A hobby that keeps you motivated?
Spending quality time with friends and building meaningful relationships keeps me motivated. The support from my friends and community provides the nourishment I need to stay inspired.
How do you unwind after a busy day?
After a busy day, I like to laugh more than crawl into my comfy bed. I love resetting my mind with crossword puzzles, word games, and Sudoku. They’re my daily brain workout. I also enjoy winding down with some light, brainless fun on Netflix.
USP
LataSita stands out for its commitment to ethics, sustainability, and personalization. “Each piece is lovingly crafted at our Kolkata studio to the highest standard of ethics and sustainability. Only thread, elastic, zips, hooks, buttons, and linings are new,” Meghna notes.
The brand operates a transparent, closedloop production chain. “Any customer can know exactly who made their clothes and see the conditions they’re made in,” she says. Meghna also ensures that her designs balance aesthetic appeal with practicality.
“Ultimately, people want great quality and great design. Our pieces not only look good but are also built to last.”
By integrating sustainability into every aspect of her business, Meghna is reshaping perceptions of upcycling in India. “It’s been a difficult journey to make one-of-a-kind pieces while staying reasonably priced, but the shift in mind-set, especially among younger generations, is promising,” she concluds.

How do you connect with nature in your daily life or free time?
Living in a city, my connection to nature comes through my mother’s love for plants. She fills our home with greenery, turning everyday items into planters and nurturing them with care. Her passion inspires me and keeps me grounded in nature daily.
What is one item you never leave home without?
I never step out without my cherished beeswax lip balm, it's essential for me.

Cocktail 10 INN O VATIVE
Trends to Watch Out For

Chetan Gangan, the celebrated mixologist and Co-Founder of YAAR, a vibrant and multi-experiential bar and restaurant in Morjim, Goa, has been at the forefront of redefining cocktail culture. With over a decade of experience in the beverage industry, he is known for his inventive approach to mixology, crafting immersive drinking experiences that celebrate friendship and community. His unique concepts, such as the Island Bar and Classroom Bar at YAAR, exemplify the everevolving nature of the cocktail scene—a dynamic world of creativity and experimentation. As mixologists continue to explore new ingredients, techniques, and concepts, a fresh wave of innovation is sweeping through bars and restaurants. Here are ten innovative cocktail trends that are set to shape the drinking landscape in the coming months.
Foraged Ingredients
As consumers become more environmentally conscious, mixologists are turning to nature for inspiration. Foraged ingredients, such as wild herbs, edible flowers, and seasonal fruits, are becoming increasingly popular. By using local flora, bartenders create cocktails that not only taste unique but also tell a story about their surroundings. This trend emphasizes sustainability and a deeper connection to nature, allowing guests to experience flavours that are truly distinctive and reflective of their region.
Low and No-Alcohol Cocktails
The rise of mindful drinking has given birth to a growing interest in low and no-alcohol cocktails. These beverages provide the sophistication of traditional cocktails without the effects of alcohol. Bartenders are crafting complex, flavourful drinks using ingredients like herbal infusions, high-quality bitters, and non-alcoholic spirits. These innovative options allow consumers to enjoy a social drinking experience while prioritizing their health and well-being.
Flavour Pairing and Fusion Cocktails
Mixologists are increasingly exploring the science of flavour pairing to create unexpected combinations that tantalize the palate. By blending diverse culinary influences, bartenders are crafting cocktails that combine elements from different cuisines, resulting in innovative flavours that surprise and delight. Think of a spicy margarita infused with Thai basil or a smoky mezcal drink featuring tamarind and ginger. These fusion cocktails are not only delicious but also invite guests to embark on a flavour journey.

House-Made Ingredients
The trend of crafting house-made ingredients, such as syrups, bitters, and infusions, is on the rise. Bartenders are taking matters into their own hands, creating bespoke ingredients that enhance the quality and uniqueness of their cocktails. This commitment to craftsmanship allows mixologists to showcase their creativity and passion while offering guests a one-ofa-kind experience. From homemade shrub syrups to artisanal bitters, these handcrafted elements elevate the cocktail experience to new heights.
Savoury Cocktails
Traditionally, cocktails have leaned towards the sweet or fruity side, but the emergence of savoury cocktails is changing the game. Ingredients like tomatoes, herbs, and spices are making their way into the glass, creating drinks that appeal to those who crave a more complex flavour profile. Savoury cocktails can evoke memories of comforting dishes and provide a unique tasting experience that excites the palate. Think of a cocktail made with fresh basil, heirloom tomatoes, and a touch of balsamic vinegar for a refreshing yet unexpected treat.
Sustainable Practices
Sustainability is becoming a core value for many bars and restaurants, leading to innovative practices in cocktail creation. This trend includes using upcycled ingredients, reducing waste, and sourcing local products. Bartenders are finding creative ways to repurpose fruit peels, herbs, and other leftovers to craft unique flavour profiles while minimizing environmental impact. By emphasizing sustainability, these establishments are appealing to conscious consumers who want to support eco-friendly practices while enjoying delicious drinks.

Classic Cocktails with a Twist
While classic cocktails remain timeless favourites, bartenders are putting their spins on these beloved recipes. By experimenting with different spirits, flavours, and presentation styles, mixologists are breathing new life into traditional drinks. For instance, a classic Negroni might be reimagined with a gin infused with local botanicals or served in a unique glassware that enhances the drinking experience. These inventive twists offer a fresh take on familiar flavours, inviting guests to rediscover their favourites in exciting new ways.
Interactive Cocktails
The rise of interactive dining experiences has extended to the cocktail scene, where guests are encouraged to participate in the creation of their drinks. From DIY cocktail kits to build-your-own concoction bars, interactive cocktails allow patrons to get hands-on with their beverages. This trend adds an element of fun and personalization, making the cocktail experience more engaging and memorable. Guests can experiment with different ingredients, tailoring their drinks to their preferences and creating a sense of ownership over their experience.
Cocktails Inspired by Global Flavours
As the world becomes increasingly interconnected, mixologists are drawing inspiration from global culinary traditions to create cocktails that reflect diverse cultures. This trend showcases the beauty of cross-cultural exchange, resulting in cocktails that incorporate spices, herbs, and flavours from around the globe. For example, a cocktail might feature Japanese yuzu, Indian spices, or South American fruits, blending these elements to create an entirely new flavour profile. This approach not only celebrates diversity but also introduces guests to the rich tapestry of global cuisine.
Unique Presentation Techniques
The way a cocktail is presented can significantly enhance the overall experience. Innovative presentation techniques are gaining traction, with mixologists exploring creative glassware, garnishes, and serving methods. From smoke-infused cocktails served under glass domes to drinks garnished with edible flowers and intricate designs, the visual appeal of cocktails is becoming just as important as the taste. This trend emphasizes the importance of aesthetics in the drinking experience, enticing guests to share their beautiful cocktails on social media and creating a buzz around the bar.
The cocktail landscape is evolving, driven by the creativity and passion of mixologists who are eager to explore new flavours, ingredients, and concepts. These ten trends reflect a broader movement towards sustainability, personalization, and global inspiration, promising exciting and innovative experiences for cocktail enthusiasts. As we embrace these changes, the future of cocktails looks bright and full of potential, inviting us all to sip, savour, and celebrate the art of mixology.

Neelam Kothari ON FAME, FAMILY, AND FITNESS: A CANDID CONVERSATION
Neelam Kothari reveals her longing for the limelight after stepping back from the industry, a sentiment that has only grown since her return in the hit series “Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives.” Now, as she promotes the upcoming third season while balancing her roles as an actor, wife, mother, and entrepreneur, her life is a whirlwind. Alongside fellow vibrant personalities Maheep Kapoor, Bhavna Pandey, and Seema Khan, Neelam exemplifies the fun-loving woman who expertly juggles career, family, and friendships. In this exclusive chat with Lipika Varma, she shares insights into her work, personal life, and fitness journey.
On Acting and Career
What were your emotions like when you left the film industry, and how did it feel to return to the spotlight with this show?
I had a lot of mixed emotions when I left films. I missed the limelight tremendously, and I missed the adulation. Now, making a comeback with this show, I was excited and nervous, facing the cameras again. It was a mixed bag of emotions.

What makes the third season of “Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives” unique, and what can audiences expect?
The show is slightly different, with a lot of masala and dhamaka. I am sure the audience is going to love it. It's like a non-fiction feature film with a lot of reality. So, everything you see is real; the fight, the drama, and the fears are confirmed. This third season is an honour with a bit of a twist.
I HAD A LOT OF MIXED EMOTIONS WHEN I LEFT FILMS. I MISSED THE LIMELIGHT TREMENDOUSLY, AND I MISSED THE ADULATION. "

How does your husband support you in balancing your career and family life?
Sameer is a very understanding and chilled-out person. He encourages and supports me in whatever I do, making it easy to proceed smoothly with my profession. He never grumbles when I'm travelling; he takes care of everything on the home front.
How do you navigate the challenges of being an actor, entrepreneur, and wife while managing mom guilt?
Mom guilt is a constant companion. All mothers face it; we adapt and find ways to manage. As women, we’re experts at multitasking. Before I head out, I ensure everything is in place with my house help, and once I return, my focus shifts to my daughter. Thankfully, Sameer is incredibly supportive and pitches in with household tasks, making it easier for us both.
What is your mantra for balancing fitness exercises?
Honestly, it is tough to maintain fitness. I have to really work for myself and also for my mental well-being. Now, at this stage in my life, there are so many events, commitments, and places I need to be. I have just learned to say no to a lot of difficult things. Sometimes, I get tired, so physically and mentally, it's impossible to do many things and be present.
How do you balance your jewellery business with your other responsibilities, and what role do your friends play in supporting you?
As a close friend, I will always be there to support them at any event, etc. Otherwise, I'm slowing down the pace. Now, I have a lot on my plate. I have my jewellery business, so I'm at work every day. I have not forgotten my jewellery designs; that is my primary business, so my family and business are my priorities. Then comes everything else.
How do you prioritize your mental wellness, and what techniques do you use to manage stress?
I just recently started watching YouTube. Sometimes, I unnecessarily get stressed, especially when I think about so many things coming up. To be stress-free, I watch or listen to a meditation or manifesting—calm and peace, as I believe manifests in good and positive things.

How has your approach to fitness evolved over the years, and what changes have you made to your routine at this stage in your life?
Earlier, when I was young and was doing films, I didn't know what diet and fitness were, simply because I was so young. And while you're young, we look at life a certain way, no matter what you want to eat. But I have realized now that I am conscious as I look at it in a certain way. I exercise twice or thrice a week. All women put on little weight, so I try to put on a little weight to become stronger. Jokes apart, no one messes with me.
What is your daily routine, and how do you incorporate wellness into your busy schedule?
I wake up and have white pumpkin juice with soaked walnut water. It is perfect for the gut. I also have a black cup of coffee in the morning. I go to work and spend time with my family. I do my weights alongside my workouts by walking with friends, as this makes it easier, as you are gossiping and trotting as well. This way, time just flies.
