Spring Hill VS. Rector
The Springhill Bears came out aggressive from the start in their playoff game against the Augusta Red Devils. Springhill started out strong scoring on the second play of the game. The Bears stayed strong the whole game stopping Augusta’s offense nearly every drive. Springhill only allowed Augusta to score only two touchdowns the entire game. With the ending score being 42-12 Springhill was on their way to play in a championship game.
Congrats to Spring Hill's Carson Moore Brandon Burlsworth Player of the Game in the 8Man State Championship!

Principal’s Corner:
Our first semester is coming to an end. The students and teachers have been working exceptionally hard! The Semester test will be the week of December 18-22nd, please keep an eye on the Facebook page for the upcoming test schedule. I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I look forward to seeing you all in the New Year!
Slow-Cooker Braised Beef with Carrots & Turnips Ingredients 1 tablespoon kosher salt 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon ½ teaspoon ground allspice ½ teaspoon ground pepper ¼ teaspoon ground cloves 3-3 1/2 pounds beef chuck roast, trimmed 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil 1 medium onion, chopped 3 cloves garlic, sliced 1 cup red wine 1 (28-ounce) can of whole tomatoes, preferably San Marzano 5 medium carrots, cut into 1-inch pieces 2 medium turnips, peeled and cut into 1/2-inch pieces Chopped fresh basil for garnish
Prep Time: 40 mins Additional Time: 3 hrs 20 mins Total Time: 4 hrs
Directions Combine salt, cinnamon, allspice, pepper, and cloves in a small bowl. Rub the mixture all over the beef. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the beef and cook until browned, 4 to 5 minutes per side. Transfer to a 5to 6-quart slow cooker. Add onion and garlic to the pan. Cook, stirring, for 2 minutes. Add wine and tomatoes (with their juice); boil, scraping up any browned bits and breaking up the tomatoes. Add the mixture to the slow cooker along with carrots and turnips. Cover and cook on High for 4 hours or Low for 8 hours. Remove the beef from the slow cooker and slice. If desired, serve the beef with the sauce and vegetables, garnished with basil.

New To The Crew
Before coming to Spring Hill, I went to Sheridan High School. Spring Hill was closer to my house and it also seemed like a better fit for me. I miss my teachers most of all. What I like most about Spring Hill is the students, they are nice and friendly. I have 3 younger siblings Bryson, Eli, and Kinsley Sorrells. What I look forward to the most is gradutating.

Abbi Fisher This year is Mrs Fisher's first year to teach in a public school. Before she came to Spring Hill she taught at first Methodist preschool for a whole year while in college and interred here at Spring Hill last year. She has only taught Preschool and first grade for a semester. To her Spring Hill is special in many ways it has always been home for her she has attended here through kindergarten to twelfth grade. In her words this school is not just a school it's a family. She is most excited seeing the growth of the Preschool program with it being a first year program. She only teaches Spring Hill and has the same kiddos everyday. She always knew she wanted to do something with kids due to my heart for them.

In The Spotlight staff
Allie Porter
Mrs. Porter has been teaching at Spring Hill since 2017, she has taught sixth grade, Jr. High Math, U.S. / Arkansas History, World Geography, and Civics. Her goal this year is to help students better understand how our government works and for each of her students to know that she loves them. What inspires her the most is her students. Mrs. Porter loves teaching at SpringHill because we are a family and there is no school like ours.
Writers Block
Kyleigh Pierson Kyleigh Pierson is a second-year journalism member, she chose journalism because she thought it would be fun to try something new! She is a writer of journalism. One thing she likes about journalism is interviewing kids and getting to learn something new about them. Some skills Kyleigh has learned from this are communication skills and writing skills! She plans on taking journalism next year. Outside of school, Emma enjoys spending time with family, going to church with Zoey, and hanging out with her best friend Amira. She also enjoys softball, and being outside.

Jack Flowers is a senior at Springhill. After high school he plans to go to SAU. Jack's goals for this year are to finish strong in every aspect. He wants to go into sciences and become a physicist. Jack says he will not really miss anything about Springhill. Jack’s advice for underclassmen is “Do not use the new main bathroom”. Jack has been at Spring Hill for 4 years because of his dads occupation. Outside of school Jack likes to play golf and also works at El Agaves. Jack's favorite memory at Springhill was when he brought his playstation and got a win on Fortnite.

Christopher Hernandez is a senior at Spring Hill this year. After graduation he plans to go to a college in Marshall, TX, one of the best lineman schools. His main goal is to graduate. His future occupation is to be a lineman. He will miss the school spirit at Springhill the most. His advice for the under class man is “Be nice to your subs, it will help in the long run”. Christopher has attended Springhill since the 2nd grade. Outside of school Christopher likes to hunt and also works at Super 1. His favorite memory at Springhill is going to state in golf 4 years in a row and being golf district champs 4 years in a row.

Prerequisite To Deer Hunt: The class is for those who wish to participate in a mentored deer hunt. On the following Saturday, December 2nd, They cover the essentials of deer hunting as well as the game plan for the upcoming hunt. Class is held at “AGFC Rick Evans Grand view Prairie CEC, 1685 CR 35 N Columbus, AR,”. Door is marked with a sign that reads "Educational Building."

Movie Review This movie is rated PG and has 4.6 stars out of 5. It all starts on Christmas Eve, when a baby crawls into Santa Claus's sack and is accidentally taken back to the North Pole. When the infant is discovered at the workshop, the elves name him Buddy. Buddy is accepted by the elf community and grows up believing he is an elf, but learns that he is a human upon reaching adulthood. Papa Elf tells Buddy that he was born to Walter Hobbs and Susan Wells. Walter now works for a book publisher at the Empire State Building in New York City, unaware of Buddy's existence. Santa reveals that Walter is on the Naughty List due to his selfishness, but suggests Buddy could help redeem him with some Christmas spirit. So Buddy takes off into a new world to him, trying to find his father.
