Whatley Words of Wisdom:

Principal’s Corner:

We are off to a good start with the new year and a new semester. We have a big semester planned for the Spring of 2024. Our CTE programs will be used for the Regional Showcase through our coop. We will have visitors on campus on Feb. 28th to show what all our CTE students are learning and making. We also have testing going on later in the semester with the new platform, going away from ACT Aspire, and going to ATLAS. Our students are doing an excellent job in the classrooms and showing great improvement. Being a Spring Hill Bear is so exciting and having the teachers we have makes this possible. All our teachers are invested and are setting goals and expectations for our students to reach. Go Bears!!!

In The Spotlight staff

Alicia dowell

Alicia Dowell is in her second year teaching at Spring Hill School. The reason she chose to teach here is because she wanted to keep her daughter in a good school and she was looking for a change from what she was doing before becoming a teacher. She has been a part of the staff here at Spring Hill since 2017 and became a teacher last year. Mrs. Dowell has one biological daughter named Freya. But, she has a host of other kids also. She is married to her husband Jeremy and they have been married for 18 years. Her favorite thing about Spring Hill is how everyone here works together and makes it a great environment. She loves to spend her time reading and taking pictures of interesting things in Arkansas.

Writers Block

Briar Ridling

Briar chose to take Journalism this school year because it seemed really fun. This is his first year in the class. His role on the newspaper staff is a writer. He usually does the Senior Spotlight because he likes being able to interview the seniors and write about them. Briar has learned many communication skills while in Journalism and will probably take it next year. If he could pick another job, he would probably pick to write a sports article because he enjoys sports. In the future, he would most likely not consider a job in journalism just because he does not want a sit-down job. Outside of school, Briar enjoys hanging out with Emma, fishing, and hunting.

Madelyn Hooks is a senior at Spring Hill this year. After school she plans to attend her first 2 years here in Hope at UAHT, after she completes those 2 years she wants to transfer to Lyon College or University of Central Arkansas. Her goals for this year are to finish her senior year without having to take finals, make many more memories, and not get ISS again. In the future Madelyn plans to go to college and get her basics then go study to be a radiology technician. The thing she will miss most about Spring Hill is the lunchtime talks with all her friends and of course Mrs. Steed and Mrs. VanNorman. Her advice for underclassmen is “make sure they show up to class and do everything in your power to not take Lew's final”. She has been here at Spring Hill since the 2nd grade. She is in FCCLA and she works at Tailgaters. Her favorite memories at Spring Hill were “ all the times in 3rd period with Kelsi or when Laney kicked the bathroom door not knowing I was behind there and hit me in the head.”
