A LETTER FROM THE CEO

PERSONALIZED CARE FOR THE ORANGE COUNTY COMMUNITY
Empowering Through Compassion
At Share Our Selves, we are committed to serving the underserved and underinsured, and we believe that everyone deserves access to affordable and accessible healthcare. In partnership with our donors, we have made a significant impact on the lives of many in our community.
Looking ahead to the future, we are excited to continue building a healthier and more equitable community. But we can’t do it alone. We rely on the support of our community to make our work possible. That’s why I am excited to invite you to join us for our 30th Annual Wild & Crazy Taco Night, which will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at the OC Fair & Event Center. Three decades of mouthwatering tacos, unforgettable memories, and giving back to the community - we can’t wait for you to celebrate with us!
Whether you are a patient, a donor, a volunteer, or a supporter of our mission, we are grateful for your partnership. Together, we can create a healthier and more equitable world. Thank you for your continued support and commitment to our community.
Sincerely,

Meet Kadie, an optimistic single mother of two adult children. After a sudden divorce and a series of unfortunate events, Kadie found herself homeless and without a support system. Her relationship with her daughters had become strained post-divorce and she suddenly found herself living in a car, relying on our food pantry and public restrooms for basic needs.
Kadie came to Share Our Selves feeling hopeless and helpless. Being a Newport Beach native, she was aware of the support services we could provide but never thought she would become a patient here in her lifetime. Thanks to the compassionate care and support of our team, Kadie was able to get the dental
attention she needed, as well as access to social services and our food pantry. Care Manager, Michael McGlinn, helped her find temporary housing in Orange in a residence which specializes in aiding older adults seeking housing.
Shortly after working with Michael, Kadie suffered an unexpected dental injury. Michael referred her to our dental clinic where she took to Dr. Vu immediately. When Kadie first came into our clinic, she was nervous and embarrassed about the state of her teeth. Dr. Vu welcomed her with open arms
Over several appointments, Dr. Vu will be able to restore Kadie’s smile and relieve her pain. Each time Kadie leaves Share Our Selves, her gratitude is palpable. She remains positive and grateful for the help she’s received.
But dental and care management was just the beginning of Kadie’s journey to success. As she began to trust our team and the residence staff, Kadie opened up about her struggles and her hopes for the future. After spending her life as a devoted stay at home mom of two, she is dedicated to rebuilding her life.
Slowly but surely, Kadie has begun to build a network of support. She has made friends with the other women in her temporary housing. She has connected with community
organizations that provided resources and helped her feel more connected to the wider community.
Today, Kadie is working with an advocate to help her obtain social security benefits as well as build her credit score. Her ultimate goal is to move into an apartment of her own and regain her independence. She still frequents our dental clinic for regular appointments with Dr. Vu and always stops by to say hello on her way to our food pantry to receive groceries, hygiene items and warm clothes. We are so proud of Kadie and all she has accomplished, and we are honored to be a part of her journey to success.
We are thrilled to shine a spotlight on Armando J. Galindo, a long-time supporter of Share Our Selves. Armando’s parents attended the same church as Share Our Selves’ founders, Jean and Frank Forbath, who enlisted his father’s assistance for translation services.
As a volunteer, Armando’s father, Armando A. Galindo Sr., dedicated endless hours as a translator, during the early days of Share Our Selves helping Spanish speaking patients to receive much needed care. Armando A Galindo Sr. was passionate about helping migrant workers access healthcare resources within Orange County, and continued this work until he was in his nineties.
Combined the Galindo family has been supporting Share Our Selves for 30 years. After Armando A. Galindo Sr. passed away, Armando began donating monthly to Share Our Selves as a way to honor his father’s legacy of service. He
remains a committed supporter to this day, attending events and inspiring others to get involved.
Armando is a humble man with a personal philosophy of making time for worthy causes, he believes a small impact can make a big difference. He currently teaches chemistry at a Catholic school in Salinas, but his dedication to service extends beyond the classroom. Armando volunteers with his students in the community to make a difference.
Armando’s father was born in Mexico but immigrated to the US where he attended college
and graduate school . Armando A Galindo Sr. became a senior electrical engineer for the city of Los Angeles, and his legacy of service and dedication to the community lives on through his son, Armando.
We are grateful for Armando’s 16 years of continued support and partnership in our mission of providing affordable and accessible healthcare to those who need it most.
Thank you for honoring your father’s legacy of service and making a difference in our community.
We are thrilled to announce that Theodore Robins Ford, a family-owned Ford dealership in Orange County, has generously donated $25,000 to Share Our Selves as part of their 100th-year anniversary celebration.
We are honored to be one of the eight nonprofit recipients chosen to receive this gift, which will go a long way in helping us provide essential services and care to our community.
Theodore Robins Ford has a long history of giving back to organizations that make a difference in Orange County. The owners, Dave and Jim Robins, are carrying on their grandfather’s legacy of generosity and community support. We are grateful for their continued commitment to our cause, which spans more than two decades.
Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of our neighbors.
Thank you, Theodore Robins Ford!
