It was wonderful to have you all visit Seton on Welcome Day.

We often hear the term '20/20 Vision'. In its simplest interpretation, it means perfect vision. My wish for all of you coming into Seton is that you have 20/20 perfect vision as you are about to head into our school.

What do I mean by having perfect 20/20 vision?

… you will need to use what you have learned to make our world a better place

… you will need to cherish the joys and successes of each and every day

… you will need to live your faith and count on it to help you work through life’s pain and sorrows

… you will need to remember that life is about relationships with people, and

Welcome Day Photos

In your new House shirts you really looked like Seton students and a part of the College Whether you are in McAuley, Delany, MacKillop, Loyola, Marion or Ward you will be looked after by both the older students and the staff from those Houses and in turn as you get older you will welcome and mentor the new students entering the College We think these photos are testament to the great fun and positive interactions you had on the day! Well done for stepping out of your comfort zones and making an effort to meet new people

Top tips for settling into High School quickly...

There are millions of students all over Australia about to start Highschool for the first time in 2023 and it would be a safe bet to say they are all feeling a tad nervous. Here are our top tips for settling in quickly.

Push yourself out of your comfort zone make as many connections with people as possible and don’t feel like you have to have a best friend after the first few days of school Make as many friends as possible, widen your friendship groups to include all kinds of people If you just have a small select group of friends you won’t learn as much, nor will you feel comfortable if they are not in your classes, or they are away from school one day or you have a falling out (it happens usually it is short lived and it is all about learning how to have good relationships)

Don’t be afraid if you feel like you know nothing You won’t be alone You aren’t expected to know everything In fact, you are expected to ask lots of questions

Look to your teachers and your parents for help

They have been there and done that they have a wealth of experience that you have not accumulated yet

Don’t assume everyone is so much happier and more confident than you everyone is a little bit scared and if you make an effort to be friendly and supportive of others they will appreciate the gesture Expect to get lost Most people do High Schools are generally bigger places than Primary Schools Just ask for help it is a great way to make a new friend and find where you are meant to be

Try to be easy on yourself and go with the flow

Highschool is a big change in your life, but it is the first of many changes that will occur throughout your life Highschool helps you to become more resilient, more adaptable and more capable
