A CLASSIC TALE

Tim Crocker found a passion for classic cars at a young age. It started when a family friend gave him and his brother a ride in a 1969 Plymouth Road Runner. His interest in working on cars came at the age of 14 when he traded 9 pigs for a 1949 Chevrolet pick-up truck. However, working at a full-service gas station during high school is where he credits finding his love of repairing classic cars.

Over the years, Tim has enjoyed finding and flipping classic cars. He finds the beauty in all of them but the 1960’s – 1970’s American classics are his favorites.

As a car enthusiast, Tim loves exploring old salvage yards. He compares it to looking for buried treasure. In fact, one of his best friends owns a salvage yard in Missouri (where Tim is originally from). He enjoys going to visit him and getting on a four-wheeler to scavenge the 10-acre field of old cars.

Currently, Tim has his own shop that he uses to work on the cars. His main project right now, and biggest project to date, is a 1966 Chevelle Super Sport Big Block Engine Car. He has always dreamed of doing a complete “nut and bolt restoration”. When he found the 1966 Chevelle, he chose this as the car to fully restore because it is so rare. He has been working on the car for 4 years and plans to complete it within the next 6 months. Tim has also completely restored a 1968 Pontiac Firebird convertible that he purchased in 1995 and he loves cruising around in it!

EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT

Tyler Byrd began working at MSA in January of 2020. He graduated from Piedmont College in 2014 with a Bachelor’s in Accounting and Finance and graduated with a Masters a year later. He was excited to hear about the Accounting Manager position at MSA because he was looking to not only invest in himself but take the next step in his career and saw this as his opportunity. His favorite part of working at MSA is the people he works with. “All of the accounting department has become like family to me,” he says. Some fun facts about Tyler are that he loves sports, especially history and statistics. In fact, you might can catch him in the hallway discussing some of his favorite teams, including Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Braves and Atlanta Falcons. Another interesting fact is that he loves history. Some people call him a “human encyclopedia” because of his depth of knowledge about the subject. Tyler decided to buy a house last year because he loves this area and sees himself settling here long term. He especially enjoys living near the mountains so he can go hiking.

FAIR

The 2022 MSA Annual Health and Wellness Fair was held October 18 & 19. Nurse Judy Dean and Habersham County Medical Center employees Joanna Eller, Megan Lee and Cindy Beckett performed lab screens checking triglyceride, cholesterol (HDL and LDL) and blood sugar levels.

Employees and their spouses that are covered under the company health insurance plan are encouraged to participate every year to help alert them of a pre-existing condition they may not be aware of. Over 50 people took part in this year’s event and those employees will receive a credit on their Benefit Card.

“I always love the Health and Wellness Fair. We care for our employees and the Health and Wellness Fair helps provide them with support to take better care of themselves,” says Nurse Judy.
