STRATEGIC IMPLEMENTATION OF A ROBUST TECHNOLOGY FRAMEWORK

To assist an employee of moving from the starting point of being mediocre and average, a person seeking to become great and excellent with a strong desire to be classified as brilliant with intellectual brilliance, will have to follow a linear process based on values (integrity) in the workplace

In my previous message of the Newsletter of March 2023, I charged the managers and staff of SCNET to become conversant and compliant with the latest technologies (Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and ChatGPT) that are dominating and driving the current Procurement Industry I requested that the managers responsible for the operational areas of SCNET, of which technology must be placed high on the agenda of every meeting The relevant Operational areas are DTI Codes, Procurement, Corporate Liaison, Administration, Tenders, RFQ’s, Finances, Human Resources, Public Relations and Marketing, ICT, Sales and Training

In order to discover new technologies relevant to the operational areas, this can be achieved through collaborations that share our vision of providing cuttingedge technology to our clients The aim of this would also be to enhance the our clients advantages, benefits, overall satisfactions and increase loyalty

I am satisfied that most of the managers are advocating the use and application of the latest technology systems and processes in the execution of operations and tasks to reach set performance targets The robust push of current technology in all endeavours of SCNET is creating a platform for our organisation to become a competitive force and a benchmark for best practices in the national and international Procurement Industry

I do believe that all employees should place an emphasis on the following factors daily: Job Commitment, Innovation, Ethics, Ability to Work in a Team, Responsibility, Technology Inclination, Leadership, Client Focus and Willingness to go the Extra Mile By considering and enforcing these factors, there can be a drastic increase in the overall organizational performance.

It is my strong desire to see to it that every employee of SCNET will develop and progress to become a brilliant employee

Greenberg and Nadler (2020) in their publication Emotional Brilliance, is pushing the idea that stress and fear can impact on the emotional brilliance of a worker in the workplace (2021) Emotional stability, defined as emotional intelligence is the platform for emotional brilliance. Emotional brilliance is best understood in a holistic structure, set out in the above Model (Read: Daniel Goleman (2006) Emotional Intelligence)

The managers of SCNET are mandated to create a work environment that is free of stress and fear, that is progressive and enhance a culture of brilliance This culture of brilliance should be visually showcased, fostered and serve as a platform for creativity and innovation The idea of brilliance must not be seen as lip service or as a slogan on a T - shirt but must become an integrated component of SCNET as a whole

Employees of SCNET are encouraged to become brilliant and participate in the Confidential Mentorship Program and if there is a need, make use of the confidential Individual Psychological Intervention Program, that Prof Chris Jacobs, Training Manager of SCNET is presenting I want to conclude my message with the following expression that all our employees should take cognizance of in 2023 – 2026:

It will not be business as usual in SCNET

Senge views have the following relevance for SCNET:

SCNET that is continually expanding in the domain of Procurement, inside and outside Africa, needs to keep the progress going via a work force that demonstrates a capacity to create their own future

To create a world class enterprise in the Procurement Industry, it will require an organisation where workers are willing to make a fundamental shift of mind in a work environment in 2023, dominated by rapid technology changes (Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and Chat GPT), as highlighted in the Newsletter of March 2023

In my opinion, I believe that with the joint contribution of

BLOCKCHAINTECHNOLOGY

Blockchain is a database that keeps track of an everexpanding list of records called blocks that are connected and encrypted to prevent data being manipulated.

Blockchains have mostly been used in the context of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, but they have potential uses in several different sectors.

On a cryptocurrency network, when a user starts a transaction, it is sent out to all of the nodes, who then validate and confirm the transaction

The transaction is placed to a new block and added to the blockchain once it has been verified This process is known as mining

Miners are paid with new coins for their labour by solving a challenging math problem that calls for a lot of brain power.

How Do Blockchains Function?

To ensure that no transaction may go undetected, every bitcoin exchange between participants is verified by the participants and recorded for everyone to observe on a public ledger

Since the blockchain is made up of a series of blocks, picture it as a stack of Legos

Each block on the Blockchain network has a copy that is shared by every user and contains the digital data of each transaction Because of the sophisticated coding that is used, blockchain is so secure that hacking it is practically impossible

All cryptocurrency payment transactions are collected in a pool and verified by miners after being checkedby users. These miners are individuals with powerful computers who compete with one another to mine for additional cryptocurrencies in the blockchain

Getting the cryptocurrency:

Verify each transaction on the pool in step one In Step 2 they must finish a challenging math problem

A block is then constructed after this is completed The block is subsequently added to the blockchain, and the miner who completes these tasks first is rewarded with cryptocurrency

How secure is this system, and why? Only if 51% of the blockchain network concur that a miner block appears to be correct can it be put to the block chain Each block is stamped with a hash so they can identify if it looks right Like a barcode, a hash is a special type of coding All of the details regarding every transaction in that block are contained in this hash

The information on that block won't match the information on the above block if someone tries to hack it because this code is also stamped on top of it It is unlikely to happen because this is so hard to hack

EDGECOMPUTING

What is Edge Computing? Essentially, it involves placing all the computing resources (Servers, Storage and other devices) closer to the “edge” of the network, where data is generated and consumed, instead of sending it to a centralized data center or cloud where it will be processed

“Edge” refers to the end point of the network, such as mobile devices, laptops etc. These devices generate data that needs to be processed and analyzed in real-time to give insights and push smart decision making By processing the data on the “edge” we greatly reduce latency and can improve the network performance, as we reduce the amount of data that is transmitted over the network This can in turn then help overcome the limits of traditional cloud computing, which is notorious for slow response times and high latency constraints, especially in remote environments

Edge computing can be used in a vast range of applications, from industrial manufacturing/automation to autonomous vehicles It allows the processing of data in real-time, which helps reduce any downtime, increase your efficiency and improve decision making Edge computing is a powerful resource in the Internet of Things (IoT) space which brings storage closer to where it’s needed, which enables faster and more efficient data processing and analysis.

transparency and tracebility

Transparency refers to the company's willingness to disclose its financial information to the public This includes its financial statements, reports, and any other relevant data A company that is transparent in its financial reporting is viewed as trustworthy and honest, which can lead to increased investor confidence and a positive reputation in the market

Traceability, on the other hand, refers to the ability to track financial transactions This is important because it allows the company to identify any potentially fraudulent activity or errors in its financial records Traceability also ensures that all financial transactions are recorded accurately and can be easily audited if necessary

To achieve transparency and traceability in financial management, companies should implement the following practices:

1. Use an accounting system: An accounting system should be implemented to ensure that all financial transactions are recorded accurately and can be easily tracked This system should be regularly audited to ensure its accuracy

Transparency and traceability are two essential elements of the management of financials of the company These two concepts ensure that all financial transactions are accounted for and can be tracked, allowing stakeholders to have confidence in the company's financial reporting

2 Conduct regular audits: Regular audits should be conducted to ensure that all financial transactions are accounted for and to identify any potential errors or fraudulent activity These audits should be conducted by an independent third party to ensure objectivity

3. Provide regular financial reports: Regular financial reports should be provided to stakeholders, including investors and shareholders These reports should be easy to understand and should provide a clear picture of the company's financial position

4 Furthermore, by providing clarity on the company’s financial position will indicate areas that are excelling and areas that are underperforming, this will allow for the relevant actions to be taken to ensure that overall the organization will perform

Therefore, transparency and traceability are crucial elements of the financial management in a company By using an accounting system, conducting regular audits, providing regular financial statements, the company can ensure that their financial transactions are accurate and transparent

B-BBEE AUDITING

A blue chip company is a nationally or internationally recognized, well-established, and financially sound company that is publicly traded. Blue chips generally sell high-quality, widely accepted products and services. Blue chip companies have reputable brands that have been built and maintained over many years That and the fact that they have weathered multiple downturns in the economy make them stable companies to have in a portfolio Blue chip companies operate profitably despite adverse economic conditions, which helps to contribute to their long records of stable and reliable growth

With the above in mind, we as a company are very proud to say that we have many corporates that have intrusted us with their suppliers on their annual audits, we needed to make haste work on getting their suppliers through the hurdle as our blue-chip corporates would call it “in supplier of good standing” status We followed the rules that was issued by the department of trade and industry as well kept up to date with the always changing rules and requirements that has not been the same since those implemented in 2018 With the year 2023 fresh and new off the bat we were tasked with 4 audits, this is where we as a company can take pride and applaud every single person that was involved in this project we have delivered on all 4 audits +75% success rate with an average of 71% which means the blood, sweat and tears were not for nothing We delivered more than what was expected We did that all with keeping our suppliers information safe as well as our corporates information safe

Needless to say, this was not the end for the year of 2023 we inspire to do better for the October audit cycle and we would want to be at our best We want more and we want our company name to be THE NAME that comes to auditors that is well spoken off and evenly more so trusted We are not just any household brand in common words we want to be thee HOUSEHOLD BRAND.

Lifestyle Checks

Lifestyle checks refer to the process of investigating an individual's personal habits, behavior, and conduct to determine whether they are living within their means, adhering to ethical standards, and not engaged in any illegal activities It is an important process for organizations and individuals to evaluate and ensure that they are operating within ethical and legal boundaries

There are several reasons why lifestyle checks are important First, they can help to prevent corruption, fraud, and other forms of unethical behavior. By investigating an individual's lifestyle, organizations can identify any discrepancies between their income and their spending habits This can be an indicator of potential illegal activities or other unethical behavior, which can be addressed before they cause harm to the organization or its stakeholders

Second, lifestyle checks can help to ensure that individuals are not engaging in activities that could compromise their integrity or the integrity of the organization. For example, if an employee is found to be engaging in illegal activities or has a history of unethical behavior, they may be at risk of being compromised by external actors seeking to use that information to blackmail or coerce them

Third, lifestyle checks can help organizations to maintain public trust and confidence In today's highly interconnected world, news of unethical behavior can quickly spread, damaging an organization's reputation and credibility By conducting lifestyle checks and taking appropriate action when necessary, organizations can demonstrate their commitment to ethical and legal standards, helping to build trust and confidence with their stakeholders

Overall, lifestyle checks are an important tool for organizations and individuals to evaluate their behavior, ensure ethical and legal compliance, and maintain public trust and confidence.

When we refer to automation with in a business environment we are talking about making use of current software systems and technology to have technology complete tasks that maybe repetitive, time consuming or manual tasks to improve productivity, increase efficiency and even reduce costs

There are a lot of business areas that can see benefits from automation, for example manufacturing, accounting, customer service, data entry and marketing

Automating of business process can yield many benefits Some of these benefits are reduction in data errors, as well as an increase in accuracy of data Automation can also improve the time it would take to complete tasks which would cause a domino effect that will see customer satisfaction improve and in some cases a reduction in costs Automation also allows for employees to have more available time which allows them to focus on more complex tasks that are unable to be automated such as strategic planning, innovation and customer engagement

Automation does also come with its own drawbacks such as loss of employment for in some cases for employees who were previously responsible for the jobs that were automated, the cost of implementing automation in some cases could be extremely high such as when you implement machines in a factory to automate assembly lines. Majority of the time the maintenance cost for the machines or software can be costly as well

AUGMENTEDREALITYANDVIRTUAL REALITY:THEFUTUREOFINTERACTION

As technology advances, we are constantly looking for ways to enhance our experiences and interactions with the world around us Augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) are two technologies that are rapidly becoming popular, providing new and exciting ways to experience the world In this article, we will take a closer look at AR and VR, how they work, and what they can offer

What is Augmented Reality?

Augmented reality (AR) is a technology that overlays digital information onto the real world, enhancing our perception of reality This technology can be used in various ways, from gaming to education, healthcare, and retail

One of the most popular examples of AR is the mobile game Pokémon Go, which uses the camera and GPS of the user's device to overlay digital creatures onto the real world This allows users to capture and interact with these creatures in a more immersive way

In the retail industry, AR is being used to enhance the shopping experience For example, some clothing brands are using AR to allow customers to see how a piece of clothing would look on them without physically trying it on By using a device's camera and AR technology, the customer can see an overlay of the clothing on their body, giving them a better idea of how it will fit and look

Another example of AR being used in the healthcare industry is in surgery Surgeons can use AR to overlay a digital image of the patient's body onto the real world, allowing them to see the internal organs and structures they are operating on more clearly.

What is Virtual Reality?

Virtual reality (VR) is a technology that creates a simulated environment, allowing users to interact with it in a more immersive way VR is often used in gaming and entertainment, but it also has applications in education, training, and therapy.

VR technology creates a fully immersive experience by using a headset that covers the user's eyes and ears, as well as motion sensors to track the user's movements. This allows users to move around and interact with the virtual environment, making it feel like they are really there

One of the most popular examples of VR is the Oculus Quest, a standalone VR headset that allows users to play games, watch movies, and interact with virtual environments without being tethered to a computer

In the education industry, VR is being used to create immersive learning experiences For example, students can explore historical sites or travel to different parts of the world without leaving the classroom.

In the healthcare industry, VR is being used to provide therapy for patients with conditions such as PTSD or anxiety. VR therapy can create a simulated environment that allows patients to confront and overcome their fears in a safe and controlled way

AR vs VR: What's the difference?

Although AR and VR are both immersive technologies, they differ in how they interact with the real world

AR enhances the real world by overlaying digital information onto it, while VR creates a completely simulated environment AR allows users to interact with the real world while providing additional information or experiences, while VR creates a fully immersive experience that is disconnected from the real world

AR and VR also differ in the hardware required to use them. AR can be experienced through a mobile device or headset with a camera, while VR requires a dedicated headset and often a computer or gaming console

UMTANA: GROW THE TREE

Benefits and Limitations

Both AR and VR have benefits and limitations, depending on their application

AR is beneficial in that it enhances the real world and provides additional information or experiences It can be used in various industries to improve processes or provide better customer experiences However, AR is limited in that it requires a device with a camera or headset to experience it, which may limit its accessibility.

VR is beneficial in that it creates a fully immersive experience that can be used in various industries such as gaming, education, and therapy. It can provide users with experiences that are not possible in the real world, and it can be used for training and simulation purposes However, VR is limited in that it requires dedicated hardware and can be expensive for users to access.

AR and VR in Procurement

Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) have been increasingly used in procurement to enhance the overall purchasing experience AR involves overlaying digital information onto the real world, while VR creates a completely immersive digital environment

Here are some ways AR and VR can be used in procurement:

1.Virtual supplier visits: Instead of physically visiting a supplier, AR and VR can be used to provide a virtual tour of a supplier's facility, allowing procurement professionals to get a feel for the operation and the quality of the products being produced.

2 Product visualization: AR and VR can be used to create a 3D model of a product, allowing procurement professionals to visualize and interact with it in a realistic way before making a purchasing decision

3 Virtual training: AR and VR can be used for training procurement professionals on different procurement processes, such as contract negotiation and supplier management

4 Collaborative decision making: AR and VR can enable procurement teams to collaborate on purchasing decisions, regardless of their location For example, team members in different locations can use VR to attend a virtual meeting where they can discuss and make purchasing decisions together

AR and VR can improve procurement processes by providing a more immersive and interactive experience for procurement professionals, enabling them to make more informed decisions and improving collaboration between teams

In conclusion, AR and VR are both technologies that are rapidly becoming more popular, providing new and exciting ways to experience the world AR enhances our perception of reality by overlaying digital information onto the real world, while VR creates a fully simulated environment that allows users to interact with it in a more immersive way Both technologies have their benefits and limitations, and as technology continues to advance, we can expect to see even more exciting applications of AR and VR in various industries The future of interaction looks very promising with the use of these technologies

While it is important for women in business to have role models to look up to, it may not be necessary or appropriate for them to be like Mother Teresa specifically While Mother Teresa was a remarkable and inspiring figure who dedicated her life to serving others, her approach and values may not necessarily translate directly to the business world.

That being said, there are some qualities that women in business can learn from Mother Teresa that can be applicable in a business context For example:

Compassion: Mother Teresa was known for her compassion and empathy for others. In business this can translate to being attentive to the needs of employees, customers, and stakeholders, and striving to create a positive and supportive work environment.

Perseverance: Mother Teresa worked tirelessly in difficult and challenging circumstances to serve others In business, this can translate to being persistent in pursuing goals and overcoming obstacles and being willing to take risks in pursuit of success

Humility: Mother Teresa was known for her humility and lack of ego In business, this can translate to being willing to listen to and learn from others being open to feedback and constructive criticism, and being willing to admit mistakes and take responsibility for them

Purpose: Mother Teresa was driven by a strong sense of purpose and a desire to make a difference in the world In business this can translate to having a clear sense of mission and values, and working to create a business that has a positive impact on society and the environment

In summary, while it may not be necessary or appropriate for women in business to be like Mother Teresa specifically there are qualities and values that she embodied that can be applicable and valuable in a business context

5G DATA NETWORK GENERAL INFORMATION

5G is the fifth-generation technology standard for broadband cellular networks, which cellular phone companies began deploying worldwide since 2019, and is the successor to the 4G networks

Like its predecessors, 5G networks are cellular networks, in which the service area is divided into small geographical areas called cells All 5G wireless devices in a cell are connected to the Internet and telephone network by radio waves through a local antenna in the cell The new networks have higher download speeds In addition to 5G being faster than existing networks, 5G has higher bandwidth and can thus connect to more different devices, improving the quality of Internet services in crowded areas Due to the increased bandwidth, it is expected the networks will increasingly be used as general internet service providers (ISPs) for laptops and desktop computers which in many households has already taken over as the preferred (ISP) Rain is a big example of this most to all cellular service providers like Vodacom, Cell C etc have started selling 5G mobile routers on contracts and will continue to do so 5G is also competing with existing ISPs such as cable internet, and also will make possible new applications in internet-of-things (IoT) and machine-to-machine areas Cell phones with 4G capability or older network cards alone are not able to use the 5G network So upgrades are always better and new it is also the way to go if you want to stay current

5G can be altogether quicker than 4G, conveying up to 20 gigabits per second (Gbps) top information rates and 100+ megabits per second (Mbps) normal information rates 5G has more limits than 4G 5G is intended to help a 100x expansion in rush hour gridlock limit and organization effectiveness

Sub-6 GHz 5G (mid-band), by far the most common, can deliver between 10 and 1,000 Mbps; it will have a much further reach than mmWave bands In the sub-6 bands, C-Band (n77/n78) was deployed by

various U S operators in 2022[citation needed] CBand had been planned to be deployed by Verizon and AT&T in early January 2022 but was delayed due to safety concerns raised by the Federal Aviation Administration

Low bands (such as n5) offer a greater range, thereby a greater coverage area for a given cell, but their speeds are lower than the mid and high bands In 5G, the ideal "air latency" is of the order of 8 to 12 milliseconds i e , excluding delays due to HARQ retransmissions, handovers, etc Retransmission latency and backhaul latency to the server must be added to the "air latency" for correct comparisons

Verizon reported the latency on its 5G early deployment is 30 ms Edge Servers close to the towers can probably reduce latency to between 10 and 15 milliseconds

Latency is much higher during handovers; ranging from 50 to 500 milliseconds depending on the type of handover Reducing handover interruption time is an ongoing area of research and development; options include modifying the handover margin (offset) and the time-to-trigger (TTT)

5G uses adaptive modulation and coding scheme (MCS) to keep the bit error rate (BLER) extremely low Whenever the error rate crosses a (very low) threshold the transmitter will switch to a lower MCS, which will be less error-prone. This way speed is sacrificed to ensure an almost zero error rate

The range of 5G depends on many factors: transmit power, frequency, and interference For example, mmWave (e g band n258) will have a lower range than mid-band (e g : band n78) which will have a lower range than low-band (e g : band n5)

Given the marketing hype on what 5G can offer, simulators and drive tests are used by cellular service providers for the precise measurement of 5G performance

PARADIGM SHIFT IN PROCUREMENT

The Paradigm Shift in 2020 caused by Procurement

Procurement as a concept and practice is largely borrowed from the military, where it was the deciding factor in winning a war The purchase of armoury followed by its distribution in the battlefield(s)

In the 1960s and 70s, the concept soon crept up in management practice, especially in the concept of "channels of distribution." As the prices of raw materials and goods rose in the late 1970s as a result of oil prices, procurement came to be seen as a tool where savings can accrue if managed properly The business world continued to improve on its components more as a tool to maintain profits rather than a desire to benefit supplying countries

This all changed in early 2020 with the emergence of the coronavirus pandemic and its total dislocation of the supply chain. It became obvious to multinationals that in the face of such total calamity, the supply chain was completely broken down No goods or services could be transported externally, and the only means to production lay in available internal resources The UK is still in this breakdown phase, where, combined with exit from Europe, it now has to cope with supplies from distant countries that are being bid for by the rest of the world

his complete breakdown in the supply chain brought a complete paradigm shift in the way business was undertaken worldwide

On the one hand, multinationals soon learnt that shipping raw materials through vast distances was no longer an affordable option On the other hand, the raw material producing countries soon realised that power now lay more with them than some distance companies dictating terms After all, the entire 2020 was spent in complete lockdowns across the world, and developed countries were greatly affected by this breakdown

Added to this was the realisation that internal food security was far more important than satisfying the needs of the multinationals Hence, procurement is now being considered more and more by respective government agencies as a tool to achieve the goals of food security set by these governments For this and other reasons, the issue of supplying raw materials and foods to satisfy Western demands is being balanced against internal needs This is particularly the case in Africa which is slowly awakening to this conflict in interest

All in all, it can be argued that there has been a seismic shift in the way that procurement is viewed and practised. As an element of Logistics, Procurement has taken on a far more important role than could have been conceived even a decade ago It is now seen as the tool that will allow the purchase of goods and services for internal security and that will minimise "waste" and breakdown along the supply chain. This evolution in procurement continues apace and will likely result in new systems and controls being developed

On the 12th of April 2023, President Cyril Ramaphosa signed the new changes to the Employment Equity Bill in South Africa. The changes primarily affect companies with less than 50 employees and their compliance criteria for Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (BEE)

The Employment Equity Act of 1998 is aimed at promoting equity and diversity in the workplace This legislation requires companies to report on their employment equity policies and progress towards achieving their goals However, smaller companies often struggled to meet these requirements due to the high costs and administrative burdens involved.

To address this issue, the recent changes to the Employment Equity Bill have exempted companies with less than 50 employees from certain BEE compliance criteria These companies are no longer required to submit employment equity reports or comply with BEE scorecard requirements Instead, they are encouraged to implement their own employment equity policies in consultation with their employees

Smaller employers are positively affected by a change in the definition of “designated employer” The definition is amended to exclude employers who employ fewer than 50 employees, irrespective of their annual turnover

However, this exemption does not mean that small companies are exempt from the broader goal of promoting equity and diversity in the workplace Companies are still expected to comply with the basic principles of nondiscrimination and equal opportunity. They are also encouraged to participate in the broader BEE framework voluntarily, as this can provide opportunities for access to markets and growth

The changes to the Employment Equity Bill have been welcomed by many small business owners who have struggled to comply with the previous requirements These changes are expected to reduce the regulatory burden on small businesses and promote entrepreneurship and job creation in South Africa.

Overall, the new changes to the Employment Equity Bill in South Africa represent a positive step towards promoting equity and diversity in the workplace while also reducing the regulatory burden on small businesses

Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to do a survey I would like to say that SCNet has assisted us in Many ways to get business leads and make the lives of our sales teams easier We have upgraded to Premium so that we can respond to RFQS without going to go to tender box when buyers like Harmony gold issues a tender Thank SCNet team for their assistance throughout the years and thank you to the amazing

The month of March has been very productive , what really work for me is the Helpdesk leads and corporate Referrals being the biggest contributing factor to the revenue

During the month of March, I focused heavily on persevering to satisfy the needs of all my customers In doing so I focused on what the client needed to succeed in business, furthermore I identified their problem areas in business and advised how SCNet can offer opportunities that will solve these problem areas.

This month I strived to ensure that I Never gave up on success By consistently trying over and over again to eventually succeed. Every time one fails, they learn how to come one step closer to success Of which during this past month, I succeeded through focusing on areas that failure was evident, and persistency ensured that I could get through to our clients and meet their needs.

Network for always being helpful whether it's for responding to an RFQ or doing a vendor application your team have always given your 100% I now have vendor numbers from most of the mines and have responded to RFQS This system has proved to be very fruitful to our company

CORPORATE WELLNESS

Corporate Wellness has become essential in the Workplace As the world spirals into the age of IT and AI, Businesses and their workforce are pressured into long hours in front of computers and stuck behind their desks without getting the necessary sunlight, correct dietary intake as well as daily exercise needed to keep the body and brain at its optimum efficiency

One needs to have regular breaks at work and try to get at least 15 minutes in the sun daily to maintain a decent amount of Vitamin D in the system This can be done by taking a tea break in the sun or a short stroll

Another important factor is ones posture during a 9 hour day at the office or even with remote working The most efficient posture to prevent things like a Kyphosis (stooped posture with rounded shoulders) would be sitting up straight with the knees and hips at 90 degrees and the body as upright as possible with the shoulders in the neutral position. The eyes should be approximately 20 degrees tilted downwards when looking at the computer (this to prevent a poker neck syndrome, headaches as well as a sore neck and back) Correct ergonomics of your desk and chair is vitally important and an experienced Physiotherapist can help you with this Another recent invention is the “standing desk”, whereby the desk may be raised to the standing position and thus the person may change at intervals from sitting to standing whilst still working This improves posture, prevents neck and lower back problems and makes the person more efficient at work. There is even a modification whereby the person may stand at their desk and walk on a treadmill whilst working and gain steps and a mild cardio workout

Another major factor one needs is enough exercise and cardiovascular workouts through the week One should do at least 4 sessions of 30 minutes or more of a moderate cardio exercise This can be brisk walking, cycling, swimming or a gym exercise circuit This has been proven to enhance the brain and work efficiency as well as prevent a multitude of circulatory problems which may lead to time off at work

Lastly a well-balanced diet is imperative. For health reasons, longevity and prolonged attention span, one must follow a regular and healthy eating plan which can be found on the internet or by consulting a dietitian
