Supply Chain Network’s RFQ system is one of a kind and it is all at your fingertips. The best thing about our RFQ system is that it’s all done online and it saves you time and money. What more could you want for your business? We do all of the work for you and assist you in finding more affordable and suitable sources for any goods or services you require.
When we get all the details on what you're looking for, we release them onto our system. We then take the time to find suppliers based in your area , your business keywords listed on your company profile , as well as the industry sector your company falls under. This is wonderful since it is tailored to you and your company.
You can view these quotes and compare all of the rates after your RFQ has closed and all of the bids have been submitted. There is no need for you to do this manually as our system compiles 5 reports to summarize all the data. In just a few clicks you can view the full evaluation, evaluation summary , best price analysis , comments, and the supplier status report.
The process doesn't end there; if you're still looking for lower costs, you can initiate a negotiation with your preferred suppliers. Once you have found your preferred supplier, you are then able to award it to the successful candidate. Unsuccessful candidates will then automatically be notified and sent a regret letter.
Our RFQ system’s short turnaround time for locating suppliers who can offer you lower prices is its best feature. Our system is a quick and easy way to connect buyers and suppliers where our focus is to save you time and money.
Why should a buyer use the SCNet Procurement Portal? The simple answer is that it automates many of the manual processes that we face daily in the field of procurement, from initiation to the awarding of the tender. Some key points of how the system can help you as a buyer:

BEE level, Ownership %, location etc.
Furthermore, SCNet is also able to be fully integrate with any ERP system (SAP, Syspro etc) to automate even further, many of the functionalities of the procurement process.

To Lee, who took off after Kelly, a big thank you You called and are still calling every day that is now from Monday to Friday, to see to it that we get most out of the SCNET platform Little did I know that SCNET’s platform is a ONE STOP SHOP One particular day Lee called just to check up on me because we could not talk due to me having had loadshedding, it so happened that I was standing in Builders Warehouse Klerksdorp looking for a Geyser He opened my eyes and advise me to try the platform instead Through his assistance, many suppliers were loaded on our profile All I need to do going forward is the utilize the system to its potential

The consignment of these RFQ's allowed business consultants the opportunity to assist many SMME’s with highly esteemed business opportunities while also generating revenue for SCNET.
In addition to renewals and RFQ's, the other contributive factor to revenue was the vendor process that SCNET assists clients with, the initial vendor process allows our sales consultants the opportunity to introduce clients to SCNET's value added services, this has been a huge success in terms of revenue brought in while also assisting our corporate partners with their imperative vendor proccesses.
The month of February proved to be a very successful month overall for sales. Renewals being the biggest contributing factor to the revenue brought in, thereafter the Corporate new Registrations and RFQ’s launched via the SCNET Platform.
The substantial percentage of revenue brought in from renewals was a clear indication of client satisfaction and the high demand for SCNET's services to business owners.
The most popular industry in terms of the RFQ’s that were launched via the portal and that assisted with revenue was for the supply of diesel, construction and industrial cleaning.
SCNET is a very comprehensive system that adds great value to businesses - the main focus of sales is to assist business owners with how to incorporate our system into their daily business operations - I believe that overall, sales achieved their goal for February while also aiding businsess owners with the opportunity to take their business to another
that may arise over time, aswell as any new development that may be requested. By creating a new solution it would mean a much more robust system to use and this in turn would hopefully mean a much easier site to work on for our customers aswell as our staff. The store is being built using a modular design which would allow us to easily edit what is and isn’t shown on the store without making massive changes to the codebase, this in turn means less downtime and a more robust website that can morph to what we need it to look like at any given time.
Hi my name is Michael Robinson, I am one of the Software Developers working for SCNet. My background consists of primarily frontend development experience with a degree in Application Development that gave me the necessary foundations for all aspects of programming.
In my time at SCNet we have been working to improve and completely revamp the current solution we are using. By doing this it will allow for much faster turn around time on potential issues
Another big project that is in the works at SCNet is the brand new online store. This online store aims to link everybody to major suppliers by allowing suppliers to list excess stock of goods on our store for anyone to purchase. However, not only will suppliers be able to add products to sell, but also everyday customers looking to sell goods. The great thing about this concept is that it would create a huge range of products on the store hopefully leading to one having a massive amount of choice for everybody to find what they are looking for. Existing suppliers on our platform would need only log in and start listing products for sale. Sellers new to our system would need to sign up using a simple process, and start listing products for sale. Once a listed product is approved for sale anyone can begin purchasing your products. We are aiming to create a direct link between customers and suppliers, cutting out the middle man and hopefully saving people a lot of money and time.

Photovoltaics, solar power, the energy of the future!
To add onto my article about loadshedding in last months newsletter ,
Finance minister Enoch Godongwana has announced that National Treasury will be providing tax incentives and tax relief to South African businesses and households to encourage a rapid move to renewable energy.
Andre Marinus de Ruyter, the recently resigned Eskom CEO, and Cyril Ramaphosa, the South African President, have both emphasized that South African households and businesses should look to invest in renewable energy resources such as Roof Top Solar systems/Photovoltaic systems. This has been reasoned by government as it is a viable solution for South Africans to combat the “existential” energy crisis in their own capacity. Government also considers this initative to ease the energy crisis of which has been declared as a national state of disaster.
Among with the suggestion of investing in renewable energy, Cyril Ramaphosa has taken further measures to combat the country’s “existential” power crisis, such as the appointment of a new electricity minister, Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, Ramaphosa further declared the matter as a national state of disaster along with involving loan schemes and tax incentives relating to the move towards solar energy. These measures were discussed at the State of The Nation Address 2023.
According to Godongwana, a renewable energy tax incentive is available for businesses to promote renewable energy, this would temporarily allow for expansion to encourage rapid private investment to alleviate the energy crisis.
The current incentive allows businesses to deduct the costs of qualifying investments over a one- or three-year period, which creates a cash flow benefit in the early years of a project.
The incentive will be available for two years and it
will not be limited by the size of the project, thus, this aims to drastically increase and stimulate the investments over the short term.
Businesses will be able to deduct 50% of the costs in the first year, 30% in the second and 20% in the third for qualifying investments in wind, concentrated solar, hydropower below 30 megawatts (MW), biomass and photovoltaic (PV) projects above 1 MW. The Minister further said that the adjusted incentive will only be available for investments brought into use for the first time between 1 March 2023 and 28 February 2025. This incentive will allow businesses to deduct a percentage of their renewable energy investment from their tax liability, reducing their tax burden. As previously discussed, the percentage of the credit varies depending on the size and type of the project, with larger projects and those located in economically disadvantaged areas receiving higher credits.
For a business with positive taxable income, the deduction will reduce its tax liability. For example, a renewable energy investment of R1 million would qualify for a deduction of R1.25 million. Using the current corporate tax rate, this deduction could reduce the corporate income tax liability of a company by R337 500 in the first year of operation.
To increase electricity generation, government has also proposed a rooftop solar incentive for individuals to invest in solar PV systems. The tax incentive will allow individuals to claim a rebate to the value of 25% of the cost of new and unused solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, up to a maximum of R15 000 per individual. For example, a person buys 10 solar PV panels, at a cost of R4000 per panel (so total cost of R40 000). Unfortunately, this rebate is only available for solar panels and not for inverters and batteries, of which in many cases, the batteries and inverters are the highest expense of the exercise. For example, across all the lithium-ion solar battery brands, you can expect to pay between R12,000 and R70,000 and up for home use batteries and millions of rands for commercial batteries.
The implementation of these tax incentives has already had a significant impact on the solar energy sector in South Africa. According to the South African Photovoltaic Industry Association (SAPVIA), there has already been a significant increase in investment in solar energy projects since the
implementation of these tax incentives. The increased investment in solar energy projects has not only created jobs in the sector but has also contributed to reducing the country's carbon footprint.
The tax incentives have also had a positive impact on businesses investing in solar energy projects. The accelerated depreciation allowances and investment tax credits have improved the financial viability of solar energy projects, making them more attractive to businesses. The reduced tax liability resulting from the incentives has improved the return on investment for businesses and has encouraged them to invest in solar energy projects, which have long-term benefits for both the environment and the bottom line of combatting the issue at hand.
Despite the success of the tax incentives, there are still challenges facing the solar energy sector in South Africa. One of the most significant challenges is the lack of grid infrastructure in some areas of the country, particularly in rural areas. The lack of grid infrastructure makes it difficult to connect solar energy projects to the national grid, limiting their potential impact. However, the government has recognized this challenge and is investing in grid infrastructure to improve connectivity and ensure that solar energy projects can be fully utilized.
Another challenge facing the solar energy sector in South Africa is the availability of finance for solar energy projects. While the tax incentives have improved the financial viability of solar energy projects, access to finance remains a challenge, particularly for small-scale projects. The government has recognized the need to improve access to finance for solar energy projects and has implemented various measures to address this, including the creation of the “bounce back” loan scheme. This scheme was implemented during Covid-19 and aims to help businesses recover from the pandemic, of which would now be used to assist them in getting funding for solar power. Currently, National treasury is working on adjustments to the bounce back loan scheme to help small businesses to invest in solar equipment. Furthermore they are also working on allowing banks and development
finance institutions to borrow directly from the scheme to facilitate the leasing of solar panels to customers.
In conclusion, the implementation of tax incentives for renewable energy and solar energy in South Africa has had a significant impact on the energy sector, with increased investment in solar energy projects and improved financial viability for businesses. While there are still challenges facing the solar energy sector and energy sector, such as lack of finances and infrastructure, the governments investment in improving infrastructure is an encouraging sign for all South African’s in order to beat the enrgy crisis. Overall, the tax incentives implemented in South Africa have been a positive step towards transitioning to a cleaner, more sustainable energy future, overcoming current challenegs and they will provide an excellent example for other countries to follow.

SCNET can choose from several excellent Technology Transformation Models to transform its procurement processes, systems, and operations. The following simplistic Model serves as an example to illustrate the above recommendation.
real business without being a data – driven enterprise.
Data Science as a scientific field of study, will develop at the speed of light in the procurement industry in the next three (3) years (2023 -2026). Data Science can be defined as an: Inter – and Multidisciplinary field that implements scientific methods, processes, algorithms to analyse knowledge from captured structured and unstructured data and apply statistical insights from a broad range of application domains. Data Science is closely related to and integrated with data mining, machine learning and Big Data.
The generic components of Data Science are captured in the following diagram.
Explanation:
At the core of the Model there are three pillars of Technology Transformation, People, Systems and Processes and Technology Operations, driven by the following key forces:
1. Enhanced Connectivity (Driven by social media and the Internet of Things).
2. Automation of Manual Tasks (Driven by New Technologies).
3. Improved Decision Making (Driven by Big Data and Analytics Technology).
4. Product and Service Innovation (Driven by Emerging Technologies).
If SCNET can succeed in implementing the above basic Technology Transformation Model, effectively, it can ensure the following procurement business outcomes:
Total Client Satisfaction Experience
Product and Service Innovation
Increase in Market Share
Digital Enhancement
Effective Risk Control
Enhanced Corporate Governance Innovation
The above Technology Transformation Model can assist SCNET to attain excellence in technology (digital) application in its operations.
Regarding the concept digital, Mike Rollings, Research Vice President, Gartner (2020) made the following statement: It’s impossible to be a digital
Big Data Management at SCNET, should be based on:
Analysing Data using statistical methodology
Visualising Data to present and communicate data in a more graphic or visual format, to make the information more understandable and userfriendly (to all role players)
The application of Data in the management of procurement at SCNET, has inter alia, the following benefits:
a. Extract insights from data to improve business intelligence capabilities and inform decision-making regarding procurement.
b. Explore data visualisation and storytelling, enabling management to effectively communicate and influence business strategies.
c. An understanding of how to apply data analysis techniques to data sets and communication regarding procurement.
Transformation Model for SCNET (2023 -2026) (Prof Chris Jacobs, DEd, PhD)Remarks: Data Science has opened the need for data scientists in the Procurement industry who can analyse data and communicate results to inform data driven decisions (IBM 2021).
The managers, as leaders at SCNET recognise data’s potential in creating value. However, though the amount of available data presents incredible opportunities for insights, there is a strong tendency to expose managers and all staff with professional skills to interpret procurement information. To create a data-driven culture at SCNET needs staff with a high level of data management skills and application.
SCNET is creating training opportunities for managers and all staff to become compliant with Big Data Management skills as an integrate component of its Workplace Skills Development Plan (2023).
The outcomes of the training programmes will ensure a high client satisfaction regarding the procure products and services that SCNET, is providing

The business world is a constantly evolving landscape that requires adaptability and innovation to succeed. However, many businesses fail to navigate these challenges and ultimately end up closing their doors. Within South Africa, there are multiple success factors for businesses, although there are also negative factors that result in business failure. By understanding these factors that cause failure, businesses can take steps to address them and increase their chances of success.
Firstly, innovation is a key factor to success, often organizaitons disregard constant innovation. It is evident that innovation allows for an organization to stay competitive, which is especially important in todays fast-paced business world. It is important that businesses constantly innovate and change theirn processes as technology advances, this will give them a competitive edge and ensure they are on top of their game. Businesses that fail to innovate risk losing their market share to competitors who are more adaptable and forwardthinking. Innovation can take many forms, from new products and services to new marketing strategies and business models. Businesses that fail to innovate run the risk of becoming stagnant and losing relevance in their industry.
Not Hiring the right people can be a major failure factor as company's success is largely dependent on the quality of its employees. Most organizations thrive based on what their resources produce and provide, of which primary resources are human capital, the employees. When businesses do not take the time to find the right employees for their organization, they risk losing productivity, morale, and ultimately their reputation. This is especially true in the early stages of a business's growth. New businesses need to ensure that they are hiring the right employees who can contribute to their growth and success. Although one cannot guarantee that they will always find the right employees, hence it is important to retain existing, valuable employees through various techniques such as ensuring they have high levels of motivation, job satisfaction, recognition and remuneration.
Poor Motivation is a major contributing factor to business failure. When employees are not motivated, they are less productive, less engaged, and less likely to contribute to the success of the company. Poor motivation can stem from a number of factors, including a lack of recognition, poor compensation, a toxic work environment, and a lack of opportunities for growth and advancement. It is important for businesses to create a positive work culture that motivates and inspires their employees to work hard and achieve their goals. Furthermore, poor motivation at an executive and managerial level can lead to business failure, if the team that leads the business is not motivated to succeed and get the job done, the business will collectively collapse as employees will more than likely also be demotivated.
A clear vision and mission is essential to the success of any business. When businesses lack a clear vision and mission, they may struggle to set goals, make strategic decisions, and communicate their values to their employees and customers. A clear vision helps businesses to stay focused, identify opportunities for growth, and create a roadmap for their future success. A vision and mission always sets a guideline for a business to work towards and succeed, every business should have a clear vision, mission and future goals to ensure their daily activities are working towards the short term and long term vision, mission and goals.
Planning on a personal, social and organizaitonal level is extremely important for success. A lack of proper planning can be a major contributor to business failure. Many businesses fail to create a comprehensive business plan that outlines their goals, strategies, and financial projections. Without a plan, businesses are left to make important decisions on the fly, often resulting in poor choices that can lead to failure. A comprehensive business plan can help businesses to stay on track, make informed decisions, and secure the funding they need to succeed. Furthermore, a strategized plan can allow a business to work in a structure, strategic manner and pursue their goals formally.
Financial capacity is an important factor that can determine a businesses success. Poor financial planning often leads to failure as often businesses do not allocate finances where they are needed. A business requires a steady stream of cash flow to operate, and many entrepreneurs underestimate the amount of money needed to sustain a business. Poor financial management can lead to overspending, late payments, and ultimately, bankruptcy. In addition, many business owners fail to properly track and manage their finances, leading to inaccurate financial statements and a lack of insight into the company's financial health. It is advisable that before starting a new venture, that all entrepreneurs provision and assess the financial situation and expectations required when entering into a new venture.
Ultimately leadership and management drive an organizaitons success. Effective leadership and management are essential as these key role players have a major influence on the operations and organization as a whole. Business owners who lack the necessary skills to lead and manage their team effectively may struggle to keep their employees motivated, productive, and engaged.
This can lead to high turnover rates, low morale, and a lack of direction for the business as a whole. Effective management skills are essential as they directly influence and cultivate an organizaitons culture and employees attitudes towards their work. It is important that all mangers and leaders within an organization ensure that they lead effectively, focus on the organizaitons goals, stay positive and think strategically.
The business world is constantly evolving, and businesses that fail to adapt to change risk becoming irrelevant. Businesses that are unable or unwilling to pivot in response to new market trends, technology advancements, or customer demands risk falling behind their competitors.

Failure to adapt can lead to declining sales, decreased profits, and ultimately, business failure. In many instances, may organizaitonal stakeholders may not support change that has been proposed as generally human beings do not like things out of their comfort zone. Change can be for good or for worse, and in the case of good, can benefit an organziaiton tremendously. New processes or tehcnologies have the ability to revolutionize an organziaiton if applied correctly and supported by the team. These new changes and adaptations can prevent an organization from failing.
In conclusion, the success or failure of a business is dependent on a variety of factors. Business owners must be willing to invest time, effort, and resources into finding and hiring the right people, staying innovative, maintaining a motivated workforce, creating a clear vision, engaging in effective business planning and financial management, demonstrating effective leadership and management, and adapting to change. Failure to address any of these factors can lead to business failure, although one should always consider all factors simultaneously to ensure the maximum success factors are being strived towards.
To avoid failure, businesses must be willing to continuously evaluate their strategies, goals, and operations, and make necessary adjustments to ensure they remain competitive and relevant in their industry. By prioritizing these key factors, businesses can increase their chances of success and establish themselves as leaders in their respective fields.
