has been selling eight additional telehandler models with 6-9 m stacking height in agriculture (KT306, KT356, KT307, KT357, KT447, KT507, KT557, KT559). In addition to the implementation of the normative new tractor regulations for the model year 2018, a new operating concept will be used that enables an intuitive operation of all functions by using the electron-

ically pilot-operated all-in-one joystick and the jog dial control element. For example, the joystick’s sensitivity can be individually adjusted with this. All relevant vehicle data and settings are displayed via the new 7” display. A special innovation used for the models KT507, KT557 and KT559 is the new hydrostatic drive system “ecospeedPRO” with 370cc capacity

for increased tractive force and driving dynamics. These are just a few examples of the Kramer telehandler series for the 2018 model year. The KT357 and KT557 were available for viewing at Agritechnica as an example of the new series. As a special highlight, Kramer-Werke GmbH presented an all wheel steer loader in the 9-10 ton operating weight class, the KL60.8, for the first time at Agritechnica 2017. TELEHANDLERS > CLAAS

More models, better performance, optimum driver comfort CLAAS presents the new SCORPION series of telehandlers, developed in cooperation with LIEBHERR

[ W I L L CA R ME L I T AN O ]

T

he well proven SCORPION models from CLAAS have been raising the bar in terms of telehandler technology for many years. CLAAS now presents a completely new SCORPION series, which has been developed in cooperation with Liebherr. The new SCORPION models offer greater handling performance, thanks to increased lifting capacity and new advanced

driver-assistance systems, improved driver comfort and efficiency, along with improved safety and reliability. These benefits stem from a range of new features, such as DYNAMIC POWER for engine management, the new SMART LOADING driver-assistance system for fine control of the working hydraulics and overload protection, a fully automatic parking brake, controlled crab steering as a fourth steering option and an all-new cab configuration.

Better handling performance

All new SCORPION models boast improved working hydraulics and increased lifting capacity of 3.2 to 5.6 t, enabling optimal handling performance and productivity, thanks to quick cycle times. From December 2018, an additional SCORPION model will be available to meet the highest handling performance demands, with a 6.0 t lifting capacity and 9.0 m lifting height. Another major improvement in the new series is

News

the high-performance drive, which guarantees particularly convenient and precise manoeuvring. The proven hydrostatic VARIPOWER or VARIPOWER PLUS transmission has three speeds, which are easy to control using the joystick. Safety and driver comfort are guaranteed, thanks to an electrohydraulic parking brake which is automatically activated if the driver leaves the seat, the machine stops or the engine is switched off. When the driver puts a foot on the accelerator to

travel in a set direction, the parking brake is automatically deactivated. As in the previous series, all models come with Claas diesel engines, which develop up to 156 hp (115 kW) and meet Stage IV (Tier 4) emissions standards.

DYNAMIC COOLING concept

The existing airflow system has been further optimised in the new SCORPION series, thanks to the new DYNAMIC COOLING concept. DYNAMIC COOLING automatically

controls the fan speed and guarantees demand-driven cooling of the engine, no matter what the operating conditions. Air is drawn in at the front and flows around the engine and before exiting out the back of the machine. The reversing fan system also works fully automatically, based on the settings selected by the operator. When working in particularly dirty conditions, the driver can also reverse the fan manually at any time, at the touch of a button.

More models for every application

CLAAS now has a machine for every application, having extended the product range to include the new SCORPION 741 and 1033 models. The SCORPION 741 is a compact, manoeuvrable all-rounder, boasting an above-average lifting capacity of over 4.0 t. The SCORPION 1033 has been developed for areas where a particularly long reach is needed. For example, with its lifting height of 9.75 m, bales can be easily stacked at greater heights, and dozing work can be carried out in grain stores.

Proven quick-release plate

As with all machines in the series, both models are equipped with the proven and robust SCORPION quick-release headstock, which is compatible with older attachments. In the new series, a side support for the telescopic arm is now available for the 1033 and 741

6

TM > n.1 - January 2018

to 635 models. This additional support provides even greater stability and protection of the machine when work involves significant extension of the arm and major lever action. For businesses in which the demands on the telehandler will not be so high, basic entry-level models without VARIPOWER are also available outside of Germany.

The expertise of Liebherr

In developing the new series, CLAAS has drawn on the expertise of Liebherr, the construction machinery specialists. This innovative family business will continue to collaborate with CLAAS on future projects. They worked together to develop an intelligent chassis and bonnet design for the new SCORPION models, which ensures optimal visibility. The attachment point for the telescopic boom now lies lower on the chassis, significantly expanding the field of view to the right and to the rear.

The cabs in the new models have also been completely redesigned, and offer complete 360° visibility. All the important switches and controls have been sensibly arranged and are easy to operate. The central gauges/ indicating instruments have been bundled together in a 3.5” screen, so that the operator can see all the important machine statuses at a glance, such as the speed, steering type or level of hydraulic oil. From spring 2018, a 7” display screen that combines all these functions will also be available as an option.

Shorter cycle times with SMART LOADING

The SMART LOADING system in the new SCORPION models combines all the systems to ensure optimum use of the machine’s capacity, and is equipped with automatic overload protection to ensure that the operating functions are always well coordinated. An automatic bucket return for loading operations with a set bucket position can also be included as an option, which the driver can set at the touch of a button on the joystick. SMART LOADING also enables fine control of the working hydraulics, to enable stacked goods to be positioned with greater accuracy. The speed of the working hydraulics can be easily halved via a toggle switch.

Optimal engine speed for all applications

With SMART ROADING and DYNAMIC POWER, the new SCORPION models have two systems to ensure an optimal engine speed, both on the road and during operation. The enhanced SMART ROADING automatically adjusts the speed when accelerating and once the maximum speed is achieved. If lower output is required, the engine speed is automatically lowered. In the 756 and 746 models, DYNAMIC POWER regulates the engine speed based on the joystick movements. The use of both systems in tandem ensures a comfortable ride in all applications, saves fuel and reduces noise. SCORPION 746 and 756 The two large SCORPION 746 and 756 models offer optimal lifting and shear forces

Controllable crab steering

In addition to the standard front steering, all-wheel steering and crab-steering mode, the new SCORPION models all come with an additional fourth manual crab-steering mode, as standard. In contrast to the traditional crab-steering mode, in this mode, the front axle can still be controlled, which offers distinct advantages for certain applications, such as compacting the edges of clamps or moving along the walls

of buildings. In addition, all new telehandlers are optionally available with CLAAS TELEMATICS. The SCORPION 741 and 736 models can also be fitted with large 500 tyres, which offer improved stability and reduce ground pressure when working in the field. The new SCORPION models for HRC are available from 1 January 2018. From May 2018, the 635, 732, 736, 741 and 1033 models will also be available with Stage IIIA emissions standard engines for LRC.◀

LOADER WAGONS > PÖTTINGER TORRO

Pöttinger TORRO Two new COMBILINE models: the 7010 and 8010 [ W I L L CA R ME L I T AN O ]

T

he TORRO COMBILINE series now includes two larger models that feature the same proven characteristics of the entire family: the TORRO 7010 with a DIN loading volume of 40 m³ (L) and 38.5 m³ (D) and the TORRO 8010 with a DIN loading volume of 43 m³ (L) and 42 m³ (D). Thanks to an optimum price-performance ratio and high output, the new TORRO COMBILINE models offer the highest level of cost effectiveness.

New beater drives – unloading in record time

The new Pöttinger TORRO COMBILINE models are truly impressive performers: thanks to the new beater drive line with an output power of 160 kW (translates into 1700 Nm of torque), all TORRO and JUMBO

8

TM > n.1 - January 2018

COMBILINE models can now unload in record time. This leaves more time for compaction in the clamp for quality silage: in addition to high efficiency, the new beater driveline ensures uniform unloading to provide an optimum build-up of layers in the silage. Precise distribution enables the best rolling work.

4 tonne drawbar

All TORRO COMBILINE models are available with an optional 4 tonne drawbar. The high drawbar load provides improved traction in the field and in the clamp and increases the reliability of the loader wagon. It also enables a heavier load to be transported, which has a positive effect on the productivity of the loader wagon. There are different equipment options available for adaptation to the specific requirements.

New level of convenience

The new loader wagon models have a new side control concept. The sidemounted control panel with its new control platform using a CAN-BUS system, offers a good overview of all additional functions such as the knife bank, AUTOCUT, scraper floor and as a NEW feature, easy hitching and unhitching of the loader wagon with the tractor.

Enhanced safety thanks to driver assist system intelligent trailed axles

The new TORRO COMBILINE can be equipped with an optional driver assist system (intelligent trailed axles), which in addition to integrated sensors for driving speed and driving direction also has a steering angle sensor. In automatic mode the axle is

News

wagon at higher speeds (during transport, for example). Off-tracking and slipping are also prevented when driving along slopes so that driving performance is improved. Moreover, a tighter steering angle is possible thanks to more clearance at the front end of the wagon. Automatic activation of the steering lock means increased convenience with less chance of forgetting a work sequence. The driver assist system is only available together with the POWER CONTROL terminal and load sensing.

Cross conveyor belt for the highest unloading performance

locked so that it steers straight when reversing at a speed that is adjustable between 0 and 25 kph (also at 0-3 kph in the clamp during unloading in automatic mode) and also when driving along an incline or slope. In addition, the driver can preset a threshold 1 to lock the steered axle on the slope as well as a threshold 2 for a maximum incline, above which a warning is displayed on the screen. The driver then knows that action is needed to prevent a risk of tipping over. The main advantages of the new driver assist system are clear: it enhances safety and adds convenience. On the one hand it is no longer possible for the axle to off-track while reversing, and on the other hand it is not possible to forget to lock the axle when driving with the loader

An optional cross conveyor belt is available for all models of the new TORRO COMBILINE. Thanks to its large side opening, the cross conveyor belt enables a very high unloading capacity and contributes to the cost effectiveness of the loader wagon. A curtain covers the end of the conveyor belt that is not being used. A third beater rotor is also available as an option. The cross conveyor belt is characterised not only by its reliability but also by its flexible range of uses: from classic applications through to zero grazing mowing and unloading, the TORRO COMBILINE is a powerful performer in every role.

Electronic controlled steering

For chassis with leaf springs and a load capacity above 18 tonnes, there is optional electronic steering. The 3 tonne drawbar is linked to a strong

track rod with turning angle sensor. The machine is easy to connect up and detach. The axles can be locked using the control terminal. The electronic controlled steering can only be used in connection with a POWER CONTROL terminal and load sensing hydraulics.

Dynamic weighing system

The new weighing system allows dynamic weight display (approximate value, net weight of load) while driving. Moreover, the maximum load of the wagon can be preset and displayed. The display turns red and a warning signal sounds if this weight is exceeded. The system is operated using a POWER CONTROL terminal, and new 32-bit hardware enables it to be used without ISOBUS.

DURASTAR loader wagon knives

The new DURASTAR loader wagon knives have a hard and wear-resistant cutting edge, resulting in a greatly extended service life. This ensures the highest cost effectiveness. The high material quality is perfectly matched to high capacities: the special steel used combines the very good hardness and wear-resistance properties of spring steel with the toughness of boron steels. The tough hardness rating of 50-53 HRC provides exceptional strength and the material thickness of 6 mm ensures an extended service life while reducing the risk of knife breakage. The special blade and knife shape create a self-sharpening effect for durable, smooth operation, lower fuel consumption and higher chopping quality.â—€
