Brändi products with Swiss quality and social benefit.

Made in Switzerland: Products with social responsibility At the Swiss Brändi foundation, people are at the heart of everything. On the one hand, the foundation is a training centre for 220 apprentices with disabilities, on the other, it’s an efficient industrial company. The result is a range of handmade Swiss-quality products, which carry the brand Brändi into the world. TEXT: MARILENA STRACKE  I  PHOTOS: FOTOSOLAR

The Brändi foundation merges innovative ideas with appealing design and social benefits. The production of Brändi games requires a lot of manual labour, thus creating various jobs for people with disabilities. From sowing, grinding and drilling to folding, packaging and shipping – it’s all happening over here. It is in this way, that Brändi produces high-quality games such as Brändi Dog. This exciting tactical board game already enjoys cult status among insiders and is all about winning as a team. Your game partner supports you whilst the opponent ‘sends you home’. The cards decide which turns you can play. The team that 20  |  Issue 79  |  October 2019

plays together skilfully and manages to put all marbles into the goal first, wins. The handy game is made of cleanly processed wood components. It’s lightweight and fits perfectly into a backpack, leaving plenty of space to take the Brändi grill on tour as well. This grill can be entirely dismantled and it is robust, long-lasting and infinitely adjustable. Made of stainless steel, the grill can easily be used wherever needed, regardless of if it’s during the next camping trip or on a tranquil boat ride. Another innovative product made by Brändi, is the Brändi Boy. It not only im-

mediately convinces users with its sophisticated Swiss Alpine design, but it also helps to open PET bottles effortlessly, which can be particularly difficult for the elderly. Made of Swiss wood, the Brändi Boy is available in different designs and, just like the other products, it is made by people with disabilities. One thing is clear: in buying a product by Brändi, you not only support the professional, social and cultural integration of people with disabilities, but you’re also investing in a top-quality Swiss product, which also happens to be a lot of fun. There are Brändi shops in Lucerne, Willisau and Horw. It is also worth checking out their websites.
