What Remains Jasmine Render And then she woke Dried the evidence of the night’s weakness Glancing around the empty interior She was alone Her breaths not joined Her thoughts not validated But she didn’t feel alone Not anymore She felt the presence of those in her life Those that chose to be there Not leaving when it suited their journey Their growth, their peace Their skewed reality In those moments of sorrow when the world seemed to close in She couldn’t help but retreat back to her old regime Allowing invisible predators in her mind Wreaking havoc on her growth But as she runs her hands over her face She realizes Her smile remains radiant Her body remains beautiful Her love remains fierce Her heart remains pure Her strength remains unmatched She was never alone
