OnMonday,May5,all 8thgraderswill delievertheir"ThisIBelieve" speeches onstageatMcCroryHall Inthe1950s,journalistEdwardR Murrow’s“ThisIBelieve” radioprogramallowedAmericanstohearwell-knownpublicfiguresdiscussthe valuesthatguidedtheirlives.Looselybasedonthisbroadcast,the8th-grade“ThisI Believe”presentationsaretheculminationofworkconductedinadvisoryandallow youtohearfromeachstudentaboutthevaluestheyhavecometobelieveinthrough theirpersonal experiences.

Allsixth,seventh,andeighthgradersarerequiredtoattendthe“ThisIBelieve” presentations.Parents,siblings,andfamilyfriendsareinvitedandencouragedto attend!Followingthepresentations,therewill beareceptionfrom7:30-8:00p.m.in theMcCroryHall lobby.

OnFriday,April 29,theSt.Andrew’sSewaneeMiddleSchool Trackteamcapped offitsseasonwithaseriesofoutstanding performances,highlightedbyanew school record.

SeventhgraderNoraJaneElrod(pictured)ledtheteamwithastandout showinginthe800-meterrun,shatteringthepreviousschool recordbyseven secondswithatimeof2:38.64.Elrodalsoearnedpersonal bestsinboththe 200-meterdashandthelongjump

FletcherKeenerfollowedwithtwopersonal records(PRs)ofhisown, improvinginboththe1600-meterand800-meterruns.AlexGlacetandElena BrodskyeachnotchedPRsinthelongjump,whileArabellaBarrydroppedan impressivethreesecondsoffhertimeinthe400-meterdash Congratstoour middleschool trackandfieldteam!

Nextweek,ourboys'team,whotook2ndinourDistrictTeamstandings,will playtheirquarterfinal RegionTeammatchnextTuesday,at3:00pm,versus GraceAcademy Comeoutandsupport!

TheSAS VarsityBoysSoccerTeamfinishedregularseasonplayonThursday, April 24withanimpressivethree-gamewinningstreakthatbroughttheirseason recordto6wins,5losses,and2draws.

The 8th grade Moving Up meeting for parents and students will take place in Spencer Room (Langford Building) at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, May 7th

Exam Schedule

Exam Week (click for the full schedule) is May 12-16 and begins with a special Reading Day for students in grades 7-12 and opportunities for review sessions

Academic Policies

As we approach the end of the quarter, please be aware of the following academic policies:

1. Students must achieve a final grade of 70 or higher in math and language in order to go to the next level of math and language.

2. Seniors must pass all classes in order to graduate.

3. Failure of the second semester of a year-long course results in failure for the year, regardless of the first semester grade.
