A Time of Thankfulness by Roger Carter, President As we roll in to this time of Thanksgiving there is so much to be thankful for here at San Miguel School.
We have outstanding and dedicated teachers and staff.
We have supportive parents
who give our school the opportunity to work with the most important people in their lives …. their children. We have a Board of Directors who give their time and treasure to help guide our school. We also have wonderful donors who realize the importance of our mission and give in so many ways that allows us to keep our doors open and to serve our students. Yes, there are so many reasons to be thankful at San Miguel. I hope you take the time to reflect on all you are thankful for during this season.
Most
important, a loving and faithful God that longs to be part of your life every single day. I also hope you take the time to be thankful for the heroes in your life that make your walk on this earth better each day. Please allow me to share my personal hero. My wife of 45 years has battled ovarian cancer for nearly 4 years. The chemotherapy that pushed our cancer into remission has now failed when the cancer returned.
She could have given up so many times from the incredible pain, hours
and hours of treatment, two major surgeries, countless doctor appointments and the often terrible side effects of the drugs trying to save her. Cancer may have returned, but she pushes on and we are now hopeful a radiation treatment will help us.
You see, she has goals of
continuing to teach pre-school, be involved in the life of our daughter and son in law, experience the joys of being involved in our three grandchildren’s lives, living life to the fullest and thankfully wanting to continue our 45 year old love affair. I am so thankful for my hero.
