Every Monday Climbing on Rock or Ice Off to the Vertical! Depending on weather, the fundamental techniques for moving on ice or rock will be explained. We show you safety equipment, partner check, climbing rules and climbing technique, either on a frozen stream-bed or waterfall or on a sunny rock face.

The rock is pleasantly warm and dry in the sunshine. Alternatives are the indoor climbing wall in Weißbach or Saalfelden (Felsenfest).

Every Tuesday Lantern Walk A romantic evening walk along the Teufelssteg awaits for the whole family. Experience the Saalach in the magical light of your lanterns and let hiking guide Hermann accompany you to the old farmhouse in Bairau.

Here you will be greeted by an inviting campfire and a warming drink and can enjoy the evening atmosphere.

Every Wednesday Through the Winter Silence and the Stall Doors – Pleasure Hike With hiking guide Hermann you will set off on a relaxed hiking tour through the wintery landscape around St. Martin.

Learn about the history of the village and its people in exciting stories and anecdotes and listen when Hermann yodels in the wintery silence. At the organic farm “Paulinger you reach the actual destination of your hike.The Schmuck family open their stall doors for you. If you have ever wondered, “What do cows actually do in winter?” you can take a look behind the scenes and find out. And naturally you will also be able to try one or two of the house specialities.

Every Thursday Ice Stock Shooting in Weißbach Ice stock shooting is most definitely an alpine people's winter sport. Interested guests and locals have the chance to get as close as possible to the “hasei”, the target, with borrowed stocks and spend a fun evening on the ice lane. There are tips and help concerning technique and rules too.

Cross-Country Skiing

All trails are prepared for both techniques. In addition, a second classic track will be cut when the width of the trail allows this (Exceptions: Kellerwald and UnterweiĂ&#x;bach trails are skating only).

Lofer: Scheffsnoth to Au (8 km) Starting point for the panorama trail is straight after the Scheffsnoth bridge. The varied course leads from Scheffsnoth to the village of Au with the famous Au chapel. The trail returns through forests and meadows to Scheffsnoth. or circular trail Scheffsnoth (2.5 km) Lofer: Loferer Alm High Trail (4 km) The high trail is situated at ca. 1400 m above sea level and can be reached with the 16

Loferer Alm gondola I + II. In the mountain station of the Loferer Alm gondola II there is a changing room with clothing lockers. The high trail is ca.

4 km long. The trail leads over alpine pastures and high plains through a magnificent and diverse landscape. Charge up on sun, enjoy the nature and the beautiful views.

Cross-Country Ski Trail St. Martin – Lofer (8 km) Breathe in the fresh air, enjoy the nature and glide along silently: that is cross-country skiing at its best. The star-

ting point for the St. Martin – Lofer trail is at the council offices, at the club centre, at Gasthof Bad Hochmoos or at Hazienda's Piano Bar in Lofer.

You can ski on easy trails from Luftenstein via St. Martin to Gasthof Bad Hochmoos and the Moosloipe to Lofer. Connection: direct connection between the Moosloipe and Scheffsnoth as well as a connection to Camping Grubhof.

Illuminated Cross-Country Ski Trail – Kellerwald trail (Skating) – daily from 5 pm – ca. 9 pm over ca. 1.5 km in St. Martin.

Unken: Circular Trail Heutal (5 km) The start is at the car park for the Heutal lifts (Skibus page 36). Start at the Heutaler Hof or the Alpengasthof Almrose. The cross-country ski trail passes over the Määnder upland moor to the Perchtkaser and back to the starting point. This trail is family-friendly and graded as easy. If this whets your appetite for cross-country skiing that's great because there are another 30 km of well-prepared trails in Heutal to Winklmoos and to the Wildalm restaurant.

Unken: Heutal – Winklmoos (12 km) Car park Heutal – via the forestry track to the Kreuzbrücke and Winklmoos – there is also the possibility of completing the circular trail in Winklmoos and returning to the Kreuzbrücke.

From here you can also ski the trail towards the Wildalm restaurant (situated at 1300 m above sea level, 3 km) or to Moarlack (only for experts).

Weißbach: Oberweißbach Trail (1.4 km) Starting point on the Hirschbichl Road in Weißbach village centre.

Weißbach: Unterweißbach Trail (2.5 km) Starting point near the Gasthof Seisenbergklamm, along the Saalach to the Kleberau farm (skating).

Winter Hiking

Here is a selection of walks in the wintery Salzburger Saalachtal. More information and further winter hikes can be found on lofer.com/winterhiking

Hiking Village Unken: Winter Hike Josefsallee – Steinpass – Gsengsteig The hike begins at the Post Family Resort. Turn right at the Tischlerei Schreder onto the Josefsalle and walk in the direction of the border. The Gsengsteig begins opposite the TEH Naturwerke. Walk on through forests with a wonderful view of the Hiking Village Unken. The Gsengsteig is easy to hike, doesn't have any big ascents and is well marked.

Above the new sportsground and the Reit farm you will reach the village centre again.

Total distance: 6.3 km

Hiking Village Unken: Discover the Hiking Village Unken on a Circular Village Walk Come on a great stroll around the Hiking Village of Unken. On this leisurely walk you will get to know Unken, its mountains and history. The circuit begins at the hiking start point right next to the primary school. On the way you will find various information stations.

Total distance: 3.7 km Lofer: Winter Hike to the Gasthof Krepper This short mountain hike leads you up to 712 m above sea level. On the Loferer Alm road, after a short climb to the

right, you will reach an easy to walk path which leads to the Gasthof Krepper. Depending on snow level it is also possible to descend via Maurach – otherwise return the same way you came.

Total distance: 5.5 km Lofer: Winter Hike to Scheffsnoth – Au – Bairau Walk from Lofer over the Hubertus bridge to Scheffsnoth, along the Wahpointweg through forests and meadows to the village of Au. After viewing the famous Au chapel, you can call into Gasthof Antonia. Finally, the path leads you back to Lofer via Bairau, Bairau Park and the Teufelssteg, Devil's Bridge.

Total distance: 7.2 km St. Martin: St. Martiner Circuit This leisurely, circular walk takes you from St. Martin via Strohwolln to Scheffsnoth and Lofer. Walk along the village street towards Gasthof Luftenstein, cross the main road (pedestrian underpass), and then to Strohwolln, past the campsite and on to Lofer.

The return to St. Martin leads past Gasthof Bad Hochmoos.

Total distance: 6.5 km You can also shorten this walk by returning via Bad Hochmoos and Camping Grubhof (4.5 km).

St. Martin: Winter Hike to Maria Kirchental The hike starts from the village of St. Martin on a well-prepared trail through the mountain forest to Maria Kirchental (880 m above sea level), to the “Pinzgau Cathedral”, a wonderful baroque church from the 16th/17th centuries.

After a visit to the church the Kirchentalwirt tempts you in for refreshments. After this, return the same way to St. Martin.

Total distance: 2.1 km

Weißbach: Winter Hike Hacker Circuit Walk along the cycle path from the village centre of Weißbach to the Gasthof Frohnwies. From there the path leads over a field and over the Saalach to the other side of the valley and past the Hacker farm. Finally, walk downstream along the Saalach and back to Weißbach.

Total distance: 3.5 km Weißbach: Winter Hike Saalach Path Stroll leisurely from the village centre along the prepared Saalach cross-country ski trail, past the holiday meadow to the Kleberau farm. As this flat walk isn't a circular trail, return the way you came.

Total distance: 2.5 km

Weißbach: Winter Hike from the Gasthof Lohfeyer to the Wandbauer Farm or Hirschbichl To get to the Wand farm, start behind the Gasthof Lohfeyer and stroll leisurely along the road to reach the Wand farm after ca. 1.5 km. To reach Hirschbichl, walk along the Hirschbichl road further into Hintertal, past the Schaustadl and Waltlmühlsäge and after a steep climb, continue leisurely to the border at the Gasthof Hirschbichl (ca. 4 km – no service in winter). For both hikes, return the way you came.
