Across our five colleges, we offer A-levels, V-levels, T-levels and vocational courses, with routes into a wide range of careers and further study. Which course is right for you? A-levels are academic, subject-focused qualifications, ideal if you enjoy academic study and are considering university. V-levels offer a vocationally focused route, combining subject knowledge with practical and applied learning. T-levels combine classroom learning with a substantial industry placement, helping you develop technical knowledge and valuable workplace experience. Vocational courses focus on practical, career-related learning through assignments, projects and hands-on activities. There is no single ‘best’ route. The right choice depends on how you learn, what you enjoy and where you want to go next. This guide will help you explore our courses, entry requirements, colleges and the opportunities available across Salford City College Group.

City Skills City Skills has a well-established reputation for equipping students with the skills they need to go into industry and is a centre of excellence for construction skills (page 10).

Open Events are your chance to explore everything we offer, including our wide range of subjects. If you have questions, our friendly staff will be on hand to help.

Once you’ve decided on your subjects, apply online at www.salfordcc.ac.uk.

Attend your college interview, receive your offer and join our Masterclasses Following your interview and a review of your predicted grades, our Admissions Team will send you a conditional offer, subject to meeting our entry requirements. From January, you’ll also be invited to subject masterclasses to experience your chosen courses and explore the content further.

6. GCSE Results & Enrolment

In late June or early July, join us for New Students’ Day! Spend a day at college, meet your future classmates, and get a taste of college life.

Once you have your results, attend your dedicated enrolment appointment at the College to accept your place. You’ll meet your teachers and collect your College ID card. Parents/ Guardians are welcome to attend your enrolment appointment.

What’s it all about? King’s Trust Team Programme is a FREE 12-week course designed to help young people uncover their hidden talents, improve confidence and gain a nationally recognised qualification. If you are unemployed and aged between 16 and 25 you can meet new people, gain new skills, and train on our team programme. Prince’s Trust cohorts run 3 times a year: September, January and April.

How does it work? When you come on board, you’ll be challenged to: • • • •

Take on your own group community project, making a positive difference to the place where you live Take part in an action packed residential trip Get two weeks’ work experience in something you’re interested in Develop your English and Maths skills

16-18 BURSARY INFORMATION We offer financial support to help eligible students overcome the costs of attending college. Depending on your circumstances, support may be available towards travel, meals, course-related equipment and clothing, trips, and other essential study costs. There are two types of bursary:

Vulnerable Bursary: Available to eligible students in defined vulnerable groups, including care leavers and some students receiving certain benefits in their own right.

Discretionary Bursary: Available to students who meet the College’s eligibility criteria and have a financial need. Awards are assessed individually and may depend on household income, travel requirements and the costs associated with your course. Support may be provided as cash payments, vouchers or goods and services, depending on your circumstances. Apply for bursary support as part of your enrolment. You may be asked to provide evidence of household income, benefits or your financial circumstances. Awards are subject to eligibility, assessment and available funding.
