The Glass House is Worsley College’s specialist training restaurant, forming the heart of our Hospitality and Culinary Arts department.

Far more than just a teaching space, The Glass House is a fully operational, industry-standard restaurant and kitchen that gives students invaluable hands-on experience in a professional environment. Our students don’t just practice in the classroom—they work with real customers from the local community, developing the confidence, creativity, and professionalism that set them apart in the industry.

Open to the public for many years, The Glass House offers a fine-dining experience in a bright, contemporary setting. Guests can enjoy expertly prepared two- or three-course lunches and dinners, designed, cooked, and served by our dedicated students under the guidance of highly experienced teachers who have worked in some of the country’s most renowned hotels and restaurants.

With seating for up to 65 guests, the restaurant also caters for private parties of 30 or more, with bespoke menus tailored to customer requirements. Throughout the year, our students also host special themed evenings, showcasing their talents, creativity, and hospitality skills.

By training in this real-world environment, our students gain the edge when applying for apprenticeships, further study, or employment in the hospitality and culinary sector.

Worsley Salon is our professional, high-specification hair and beauty salon, open to the public and designed to give students the very best preparation for a career in the industry.

More than just a training space, the salon replicates a real working environment where students work with genuine clients from the local community. This hands-on experience allows them to build technical expertise, confidence, and customer service skills while delivering a wide range of professional treatments.

Appointments are available throughout the week for staff, students, and members of the public, with services offered at competitive prices. Treatments include hair cutting, styling, colouring, and perming, as well as manicures, pedicures, facials, waxing, eye treatments, body toning, and massage.

Under the guidance of expert tutors with extensive industry backgrounds, our students gain invaluable experience in a live salon environment. This ensures they leave Worsley College with the professional skills and confidence employers demand, giving them a clear advantage when entering the world of work or progressing to further training.

I enjoy studying childcare at Worsley “ College because my teachers share valuable expertise. I’m particularly interested in child development, which will help me achieve my goal of becoming a primary school teacher.
