PROMISE, ASSURANCE, AND PEACE
Sixth Sunday of Easter
Tis Sunday’s Gospel (John 14:23–29) draws us into Jesus’s tender and profound farewell discourse to His disciples a few hours before His Passion and Death on the Cross. It is a passage full of promise, assurance, and peace. Jesus speaks these words to prepare His disciples for what is to come. Even though He will soon no longer be with them in the same way, He assures them that they will not be left alone. His going is actually a new way of being present with them.
1. PROMISE: “We will come to him and make our dwelling with him.” (v. 23)
Jesus tells us that God’s love is not something far away or hard to reach. Tough He departs from this world, He promises that God will live with those who love Him and follow His teachings. He is not absent; rather, He is closer than ever, living within us through His grace and in the life of the Church.
2. ASSURANCE: “Te Advocate, the Holy Spirit… will teach you everything.” (v. 26)
Jesus knew His disciples would need help in the time ahead. So, He promised the Holy Spirit, “the Advocate,” who would guide, teach, and support them. When the Church was born at Pentecost, that same Spirit began to lead us, and continues to do so today. We can trust that we are never alone; the Holy Spirit is always with us, giving us strength and courage in a world that can feel confusing and uncertain.
3. PEACE: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.” (v. 27)
Te peace that Jesus ofers is not merely the absence of trouble; rather, it is a profound serenity and steadfast confdence that fows from the assurance of God’s abiding presence with us. It is the peace that springs from trusting that our lives are securely held in the hands of God, our Heavenly Father. Tis divine peace enables us to confront life’s challenges without fear.
Dear friends, as we rejoice in the Easter season, we look ahead to the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord, which we will celebrate this Tursday, and then continue our journey toward Pentecost Sunday, when the promised Holy Spirit was poured out upon the Church.
Let us open our hearts to God’s presence, listen for the Spirit’s guidance, and walk in the peace only Jesus can give.
In the Risen Lord, Fr. Anthony

THE SCHOOLS OF ST. MARY
Celebrating 75 Years of Excellence in Catholic Education
St. Mary’s High School celebrated a momentous occasion on Saturday, May 4, 2025 – its 75th anniversary. The event marked 75 years of friendship, community, and world-class academic excellence since its inception in 1949. With a soldout crowd gathered in Plandome Country Club, nine outstanding community members, including seven alumni, were honored for their spirit, service, and dedication to the school.
The honorees were Mei-Lyn Bautista ’15, Jeanine Buatti ’81, Msgr. Frank Caldwell ’73, Nancy and Paul Cuneo ’81, Detective Jonathan Diller ’10, Tim Fulton ’96, Danny Green ’05, and Coach Joe Trimarchi.
Three-time NBA Champion Danny Green was a delightful presence for his home fanbase, engaging in conversations and photo opportunities during the event. A poignant and tearful moment for the guests was the introduction of the award for the late Detective Jonathan Diller, who was honored posthumously. With his siblings, who are also alums of St. Mary’s, and mother in attendance, Jonathan’s heroism as a police officer and his time as a student-athlete at St. Mary’s were remembered, evoking a strong sense of connection and empathy among the audience knowing that he made the ultimate sacrifice leaving behind his wife Stephanie, son Ryan, and his family. local businessman’s vision and Stephanie Diller’s blessing, a memorial scholarship was launched at St. Mary’s High School in Jonathan’s honor this past year during a fundraising event.
We are grateful to all the generous donors and sponsors who gave their talents, and those who attended the celebratory event in force. We thank our honorees for their spirit and unwavering dedication to our school community. And, we are grateful to our host committee members who added their guidance and enthusiasm in preparing for the historic occasion. The evening was a tremendous success and a testament to the vibrant community that comes together for our school. Let’s keep the momentum going, Gaels!

Respect Life Ministry
10 Ways to Support Her When She’s Unexpectedly Expecting
Read the full version at respectlife.org/support-her.
As a mom who had my frst baby in college, I know that an unexpected pregnancy can sometimes bring fear, shame, and doubt. Perhaps one of your friends has become pregnant unexpectedly. I encourage you to support her in her new journey of being a mother. It’s okay if you don’t know the perfect words to say. Let her know you are there for her, and ask how you can support her. Assist her in lining up practical help. She may not feel she “deserves” to show happiness; reassure her it’s okay (and good) to be happy. Your support might be the only support she receives. You can make a diference in her life. Will you?
Our mission is to build a civilization of love and life which upholds the dignity and inviolability of all innocent human life, seeks objective moral Truth, embraces the value of redemptive sufering, and yearns for the fullness of life in eternal communion with God the Creator.

Prayer in Full Faith - St. Tomas More (1478-1535)
Give me, good Lord, a full and fervent charity, a love of you, good Lord, incomparable above the love of myself; and that I love nothing to your displeasure but everything in an order to you.
Take from me, good Lord, this lukewarm fashion, or rather this cold manner of meditation and this dullness in praying to you.
And give me warmth, delight, and life in thinking about you. And give me your grace to long for your holy sacraments and specially to rejoice in the presence of your blessed body, sweet Savior, in the Holy Sacrament of the Altar, and duly to thank you for your gracious coming.

Religious Education
Congratulations to
our
First Holy Communion Students
What a beautiful day for St. Mary’s Parish. Tis past Saturday, we experienced the joy of seeing our First Communicants receive Christ for the frst time. We are especially grateful to Mrs. Vellon (St. Mary’s Grade 2 Teacher), Mrs. Morrissey and Mrs. Mellen (Catechists), for their sacramental work in preparing the children. Tank you to our parish priests, Mr. Daniel Maimone (Music Director) and Ms. Jeremy Parker (Cantor). Together with each family, we experienced the peace and love of Christ in the liturgical celebration of the mass.
God bless St. Mary’s First Communicants. May this holy day be the beginning of a lifelong journey in the gift of the Catholic faith.
Blessings, Mrs. Granieri

What is a Knights of Columbus Family?
We are Catholic families building a bridge to our faith. Our lives, time, eforts, and resources are dedicated to these values: Charity. Unity. Fraternity. Patriotism.
We come from diferent places, backgrounds, and all stages of life. But the common thread is our Catholic faith. We are Catholic families seeking to improve ourselves and the world. It’s one thing to say who you are. It’s another thing is to live it. Put your values into practice. Become a Knights of Columbus family.
