“Tat
Tey May Be One”: Jesus’ Prayer for Us
Seventh Sunday of Easter
Tis Sunday’s Gospel (John 17:20–26) invites us to enter deeply into Jesus’s heart just before His Passion. As He lifts His eyes to Heaven, He prays not only for His disciples but also for all who would come to believe in Him. Tat includes us all, Parishioners of St. Mary’s. Yes, Jesus prayed for us!
As we fnd ourselves in this sacred time between the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord, which we celebrated this past Tursday, and that of Pentecost, Jesus’ words of prayer in today’s Gospel Reading still echo in Heaven and speak directly to our lives as His followers today.
1. Jesus Prays Tat We May Be One
Jesus says, “Tat they may all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I in you.”
He longs for unity, not just organizational or superfcial unity, but something more profound: a communion of hearts in love and truth modeled after the unity of the Holy Trinity. Tis unity is both a gift from God and a task entrusted to us. We are called to be signs of that oneness in our parish family, our homes, and our relationships. Let us today ask the Holy Spirit to heal divisions and strengthen the bonds of peace among us.
2. Jesus Shares His Glory With Us
He goes on to say, “Te glory that you have given me, I have given them.”
Jesus has given us a share in His life and, therefore, a dignity that far surpasses anything anyone can ofer.
Tis “glory” is the beauty of a soul conformed to the will of the Father.
As we approach Pentecost, we pray for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit to renew us in holiness and courage so that our lives may refect the light of Christ in all we do.
3. Jesus Sends Us in Love
Finally, Jesus prays, “I made known to them your name… that the love with which you loved me may be in them.”
He not only prays for us; He sends us.
To be a disciple of Jesus means carrying His love into our daily lives: the workplace, the family, the parish, and the world.
Te Holy Spirit, whom we await at Pentecost, empowers us to live this mission joyfully because it is love, not eloquence or success, that draws others to God.
Dear friends, let us remain close to the Blessed Mother and the Apostles in this novena of waiting for the Holy Spirit. Let us allow Jesus’s words to take root in our hearts so that we may be truly one, truly holy, and truly His.
With prayerful afection in the Lord, Fr. Anthony

THE SCHOOLS OF ST. MARY
Students Bring Joy to Atria Cutter Mill Residents
On Friday, May 9, 2025, students from Saint Mary’s High School brought a dream of theirs to reality for residents of the Atria Senior Living in Great Neck.
After planning with their peers at school and discussing their ideas with Andrew Upbin, the Activities Director at Atria, the “Senior Prom” became one of the school’s favorite extracurricular activities, held off-campus.
Students from two active extracurricular clubs –the Glamourgals and Project Impact, along with the Performing Arts Program, joined forces to make the event unforgettable for all in attendance. Their dedication was evident in every aspect of the event, from decorating the activities room to serving refreshments and dancing with residents. They even crowned two residents as the Prom Queen and King, a testament to their unwavering commitment to making the event a success.
Three of the students involved in the Prom took time out of their busy schedules to chat with Eileen Symmons ’82, ’86, who serves as the Director of Communications at St. Mary’s. President and Founder of the Glamourgals Club, Chloe Brojan ’25, was one of the organizers who worked with faculty member Mrs. Linda Lipani, Club Moderator, to present the idea to the Atria. When asked if there was something special that resonated with her during the event, Chloe shared, “It was heartwarming to see a new side of my friends and even people I usually just pass by in
the hallways as they interacted with the seniors. I loved witnessing everyone’s compassion and knowing that we made a difference during the event. Seeing the seniors’ faces light up when we danced with them or spoke to them made the night truly unforgettable.” She continued with, “My hope for the seniors at Atria Cutter Mill is that they left feeling loved and cared for by St. Mary’s students. I also want them to know that they made our night just as memorable as we made theirs.”
If it came to participating in this type of event in the future, Gabriella Palma ’27, who is a member of the Project Impact Club, enthusiastically shared, “I would love to because it was so incredible for many reasons. Seeing the smiles on the residents’ faces was amazing! They appeared to be having a fantastic time dancing to the music and chatting with all the other participants. It is also great to be able to connect with the residents and learn more about their stories. This type of event would probably not be one that the residents expected, but it was one that gave them the opportunity to feel young again. I hope the ‘Senior Prom’ had as much of a positive impact on them as it did on me, and I’d be so excited to do it again!”
Steven Fortune ’26, who joined the effort from the Performing Arts Program, brought his dancing skills along with a smile to the event. “The absolute glee from the seniors resonated with me. It was so heartwarming to see them dancing and socializing. The grins on their faces created a vibrant atmosphere. I can still see their faces, and I wish the best for them. Being there this year has motivated me to be sure that I will join the effort again next year.”
The students also shared their thoughts on how Jesus would feel about their interaction with the senior citizens. Their answers reflected not only their personal growth but also their faith journeys as students of St. Mary’s. “One of the many things He preached about was to love your neighbor as you love yourself. I think that Jesus appreciates that we took the time to connect with the seniors in such a fun way and is joyful to see His teachings are still being followed today,” said Steven. Chloe added, “I know that Jesus would be proud of our students representing what St. Mary’s prides themselves on, which is ‘Omnia ad Jesum per Mariam’ (Everything to Jesus through Mary). Knowing that our student body was able to embody Mary’s ‘yes’ by participating in God’s plan of love and grace makes me believe that Jesus would be thrilled about our visit.”
Thank you to all who helped make this event such an incredible success and adding joy to the lives of the residents at the Atria. We can certainly take pride in these young people. Their empathy and compassion towards the seniors at the Atria is truly heartwarming and something we should all strive to emulate. Let us pray for their continued understanding of life’s precious moments and the treasure that our elderly are in this world.

Wisdom for the Modern Day Man
Inspired by the Holy Spirit
“How much better to get wisdom than gold, to get insight rather than silver!”
(Proverbs 16:16)
Te Modern Day Father is moving as fast as he can. He: Works at his job; Does caretaking of children (children and elderly parents); Is a husband that relates to his wife in a meaningful manner; Takes care of his physical health through proper eating and exercising as well as doctor visits; Attends to his spiritual life through prayer;
And leads a life through the image and example of Jesus.
Wow, this sounds like the role of the Modern-Day Woman! Are the men experiencing a Men’s Revolution in terms of roles and responsibilities?
I can remember that in the 70’s and 80’s the women took the opportunities that were fought for in the 60’s by the Women Movement. What women did get was more responsibility. Tey did achieve professional standing and compensation, but all comes with a price. Te men are experiencing the same situation today.
Te men are struggling with trying to do it all. Patient after patient comes in feeling defeated in some part of their life. Tey feel they are not good enough parents, husbands, not giving all to their profession, their personal health is put on hold, have no time for meaningful friend(s),
and their spiritual life can be almost nonexistent. Is there a way to remediate these situations?
How about using the example and wisdom inspired by Jesus’s life and HIS WORD and delivered through the Holy Spirit. I will call this “Seeking Wisdom by developing Insight through God.”
Are you fnding yourself feeling overwhelmed and never being able to catch up or just relax? To develop wisdom, we need to be able to think about what we are doing no matter what area of our life we are focusing on. How can you do that? Learn to calm your body and mind. An excellent way is through praying. You can combine praying and doing a relaxation exercise. Take 5 minutes to start. You can be at your desk at work, or anywhere. Take a deep breath and say a prayer you know. Make up one. Just talk to God. Take another deep breath till you start to feel calmer and more connected to God and yourself. If you do that as many times a day as you decide, you are learning to calm your mind, body, and getting in touch with God. Te more you do this; You can ask God for his wisdom around any situation you may be facing. Te Holy Spirit will be available to deliver the messages to you. Just try that. Now that you are calmer and can think straight, evaluate and consider the following basics for revamping your life:
State your goals: Are they realistic? Did you set too many? Only set one at a time in each of the areas I stated above for the Modern Man: Set your boundaries: You cannot do it all. I can remember in the 80’s when I was a mother to very young children, working, and doing everything else, I wondered one morning if I could get out of bed. I felt so exhausted. Woman were told, “We could do it
all!” Te bottom line, we cannot. You cannot. Set your boundaries.
Create Balance: Stop the race to the top. Te top of what? Set balance as a goal in all the areas of your life. In the long run, that pays of. Who wins the race? Te person who goes in a straight path. Tat means small steps that accumulate into success.
Appreciate all that you do: Take the time to appreciate all those around you and yourself. Express gratitude and appreciation for all that you have and do not have. “Tose with the most toys don’t win.” It is better to walk in our own shoes and change what we can through thoughtful, deliberate, and purposeful means which means defning what is important.
Take time to pray and develop your relationship with GOD. Tis is where a calm mind and body help you get in touch with the love of God delivered by the Holy Spirit. Remember, you can do this anywhere. Take a few moments, take deep breaths, and talk to God through praying. If you want a relationship that works, you need to talk and give the relationship time. Tat means talking to God through prayer and it can be any prayer; just do it.
Be deliberate: Follow the recipe I just outlined, and I know you will experience a better quality of life with God at your side and within. Below is a prayer you can carry in your pocket if you are looking for something to say to God and are lost for words at times.
My dear Lord: Give me the strength and wisdom to take a deep breath and pray to you for your guidance (put request here). Amen
Happy Father’s Day and Happy Being the Man you are through Christ.

Pour God’s Love into the Hearts of Tose in Need
We celebrated the feast of the Ascension last Tursday and so we are reminded that Christ’s saving work on earth continues through his disciples… and now through us. When we give to the poor, God indeed pours his love, peace and joy into our hearts, into our lives and into the hearts of those who are poor.
THE NEXT SVDP MEETING IS WEDNESDAY, JUNE 4TH, at 7:00 PM in the Saint John Paul II Room. New members are always welcome!
We invite you to explore the St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Mary’s Church. Tere are no special qualifcations to join, other than the desire to join with others in helping Neighbors in need. As a group, we meet monthly. Come decide for yourself if God is calling you to this special Ministry.
Our St. Vincent de Paul Conference is able to help our neighbors in need through the generosity of our St. Mary’s parishioners. Each time you donate, either through the collection slots at the doors of the church, or in an envelope marked for St. Vincent de Paul, you are helping our neighbors within St. Mary’s Parish. 10 Ways to Support Her When She’s Unexpectedly Expecting

Your Support
May Be the Only Support She Receives
As a mom who had my frst baby in college, I know that an unexpected pregnancy can sometimes bring fear, shame, and doubt. Perhaps one of your friends has become pregnant unexpectedly. I encourage you to support her in her new journey of being a mother. It’s okay if you don’t know the perfect words to say. Let her know you are there for her, and ask how you can support her. Assist her in lining up practical help. She may not feel she “deserves” to show happiness; reassure her it’s okay (and good) to be happy. Your support might be the only support she receives. You can make a diference in her life. Will you?
Our mission is to build a civilization of love and life which upholds the dignity and inviolability of all innocent human life, seeks objective moral Truth, embraces the value of redemptive sufering, and yearns for the fullness of life in eternal communion with God the Creator.

Adoration Prayers to
the
Most Precious Blood of Jesus Christ
Almighty and Eternal Father, the magnitude of Your love for us is refected fully in the gift of Your only-begotten Son to humanity. He is not only equal to You but one with You. We are indebted to You and it stares us in the face. Obviously, we cannot pay You commensurately. But we are asking for Your grace while demonstrating our willingness to love You in this adoration. We appreciate Your benevolence and solicit Your continued loving kindness in helping us to put forth a more satisfying gesture of love and gratefulness through a change of our lives for the better.
May the holy Archangel Michael with Your host of angels and saints join us and lead us closer to you through this adoration. We make this prayer through Christ Our Lord. Amen.
Our Father*…Hail Mary*…Glory Be*…
PRAYER: O loving Jesus Christ, Whose mercy is endless, we adore Your Agonizing Heart which bears great pains and sorrows for the salvation of man; Divine Lamb of God, Son of God and Son of the Virgin Mary, God and Man. You who sufered sorrowfully for the love of mankind; Who in great fear and anguish sweated blood in the Garden of Gethsemane, we adore Your most Precious Blood and the sorrow in Your Agonizing Heart. We beg You for Your holy Church, the pope, the cardinals, bishops, clergy, and non-clergy who are under the shade of Your most Precious Blood; protection, peace and love, so that through the intercession of St. Michael and all the Archangels of heaven, we might conquer the Red Dragon. Amen.
Our Father*…Hail Mary*…Glory Be*…

May the most Precious Blood that pours out from the Sacred Head of Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Temple of Divine Wisdom, Tabernacle of Divine Knowledge, and Sunshine of heaven and earth, cover us now and forever. Amen.

Good Samaritan House Announces Fall Bereavement Group
A weekly support group for the bereaved and those struggling with unresolved loss will begin on September 9, 2025.
The session will run for eight consecutive weeks on Tuesdays from 3:30-5:30 PM. The primary goals of the group are to help the participants learn about the grief process, develop skills to manage their grief, and help them adjust to living in a world without the deceased.
The group is open to anyone who has lost a spouse, partner, parent, child, or sibling – including non-parishioners and people of other faiths. It should be noted though, St. Mary's bereavement sessions are faith based sessions that at times refer to bible verses or prayers to assist in the healing process.
