Dear members,
Each summer, while our dedicated dealers across the country are hard at work helping Canadians realize their RV lifestyle dreams, the RVDA of Canada continues to advocate for the long-term success of our members. Behind the scenes, we are actively advancing a range of strategic initiatives designed to help RV dealers and service professionals maximize their potential and contribute to the continued growth of our industry.
One important initiative is our ongoing participation in the annual pre-budget consultations held by the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance. This process is an essential opportunity for RVDA of Canada to voice the priorities and concerns of our industry directly to policymakers.
For this year’s submission, we focused on four key recommendations:
1. National Skilled Trades Strategy We recommend that the federal government develop and fund a comprehensive national skilled trades strategy, in collaboration with provincial governments. This strategy should prioritize affordable and accessible education and training pathways that meet the unique needs of the RV industry and broader tourism sector.
2 Investment in Camping and Tourism Infrastructure We recommend increased federal investment in the renewal and expansion of camping and tourism infrastructure under Parks Canada. With growing interest in RV travel and outdoor tourism, it is vital to improve access to Canada’s natural destinations and ensure infrastructure keeps pace with demand.
3. Clarification of GST/HST Application We urge the federal government to amend the Excise Tax Act to resolve the ongoing ambiguity surrounding the application of GST/HST on imported goods, specifically concerning the location at which goods are released into Canada. This clarification is critical for RV dealers importing units across various jurisdictions.
4. Tax Fairness for Campgrounds We call on the federal government to amend the Income Tax Act to ensure that small, family-run campgrounds are recognized as active businesses, thereby qualifying them for the small business tax deduction. These campgrounds are vital to the RV ecosystem and deserve fair tax treatment.
This summer, RVDA of Canada was proud to award $16,000 in bursaries to deserving RV Service Technicians and Fixed Operations personnel from across the country. Sponsored by NTP-Stag Canada, these bursaries valued at $5,000, $1,000, and $500 were created to recognize individuals who have demonstrated outstanding commitment and potential in the RV industry.
We extend our sincere thanks to all who applied. Although we were unable to award bursaries to every applicant this year, we encourage all RV technicians to continue investing in their education and training. Your passion and dedication are vital to the future of our industry.
We are pleased to announce that the RVDA of Canada Board and the CRVA have partnered to offer a $500 rebate to Canadian dealer attendees of the 2025 RVDA Convention/Expo in Las Vegas. This rebate will help offset registration costs and is available to those who register before the August 31 advanced registration deadline. Don’t miss out on this opportunity register early to qualify!
Continuing education remains a priority for RVDA of Canada, and we’re pleased to offer RV Service Technicians another opportunity to enhance their skills this fall. The 2025 Trouble Shooter Clinic will take place in Calgary during the week of December 9th. The clinic will feature three tailored training schedules, allowing technicians to select the stream that best fits their professional needs. For registration details, please visit our website for additional information. 2025 Calgary Trouble Shooter Clinic RV Careers
All the best,

These statistics will allow dealers to better manage the inventory on their lot by knowing which units are selling in their area, which price points are attracting buyers as well as knowing the local trends affecting their marketplace.
The RV retail sales statistics compiled by Statistical Surveys Inc. are the result of matching manufacturer VIN numbers with RV registrations.

Some highlights from Jered Sobel’s webinar on the messages your staff delivers to your customers.
Last month, I wrapped up a three-part webinar series for RVDA of Canada by discussing what top producers do to tackle challenges that must be managed to ensure success in the sales process. Below is a summary of some of the biggest takeaways.
The world is continuously evolving. Local and national markets shift. Importation rules and industry standards must keep pace. Despite the massive leaps in technology we see each year, one thing remains unchanged: this is a people business. The techniques your staff used to help customers 5 or 10 years ago no longer apply. Processes continue to evolve as we track progress and listen to what our customers need.
With every new hire, management change, or shift in ownership expectations, the culture within each sales team must continue to evolve. This brings us to what stays constant…
Principles. Principle-Centered Selling means that a salesperson’s communication is deeply rooted in what they genuinely believe. Without strong beliefs, salespeople tend to underperform, complicate deals, and hurt company culture.
Principles guide your behaviour when no one else is looking.
Top performers build a solid foundation of sales principles that elevate their performance. They improve customer satisfaction by following a moral and values-based approach to sales. The result? They sell more units without compromising your dealership’s reputation.
When implementing principles (or processes, for that matter) at your dealership, it’s best to start with one, secure buy-in, and build from there. Here are a few examples of principles discussed during the webinar that sparked meaningful conversations on applying them in a dealership setting.
Every professional should stand behind this one.
Integrity means doing the right thing simply because it is the right thing to do. When you act with integrity, your personal character is never in question and you’re also protecting those around you.
In the RV industry, integrity means taking actions that help the industry grow and avoiding anything that leaves a bad taste in the customer’s mouth. The more we help promote and elevate the RV industry, the more opportunities we all have.
Integrity is also about protecting your business. Every customer should leave knowing that warranty work will be done because all RVs require warranty work at some point. Acting with integrity protects your client, too. Don’t let customers push you into giving them subpar service, even if their behaviour tempts you to cut corners.
Whether or not your dealership provides the service needed, taking time to educate customers on towing safety, maintenance, and procedures will earn their respect and save time and stress for everyone involved.
As you can see, acting with integrity builds trust. And trust turns new customers into repeat customers.
Challenge your team to train and perform at a professional level.
Ahigh school athlete may get by on grit. Acollege athlete must train constantly just to stay on the team. But a professional athlete dedicates themselves entirely to being the best version of themselves. They use all available resources and have action plans to stay at the top of their game.
Professional salespeople are no different and they’re easy for customers to spot. They have the confidence, education, and skills to offer the highest level of customer service because they continue to learn and grow.
Untrained salespeople lead to high turnover and financial stress for everyone in the dealership. Professionalism, like integrity, is non-negotiable if you want consistent success.
Amore process-driven principle.
Take a look at the two triangles below representing the sales timeline.
The first triangle shows the traditional model: a quick “Meet and Greet” followed by a long, drawn-out “Closing” process. This often happens because the salesperson is trying to close a deal without knowing the customer’s financial capacity.
Example: Acustomer wants to pay $400/month for an RV that will actually cost $600/month. This outdated approach is both disrespectful to the customer and demoralizing to the salesperson. Dealers today who haven't seen a sharp drop in floor traffic, yet are experiencing a decline in sales, may be stuck in this old model.
The second triangle reflects a time frame more aligned with how consumers prefer to shop and buy today. It emphasizes spending more time understanding the customer’s wants, needs, and budget especially since today’s buyers often arrive with a wealth of research already done.
Letting customers share that research shows respect and helps the salesperson align the offering with what the customer truly wants and can afford. With this approach, closing becomes easy.
This kind of change won’t come easily. Sales staff are often trapped in outdated habits, shaped by years of reacting to customer behavior. But with quality information and repetition of new techniques, productivity will improve.
While Sobel University has 68 published principles, you must select the ones that make sense for your store. There’s no space here to cover more, but I’ll leave you with this thought:
It’s impossible to be surprised by your sales team’s performance good or bad. Everything that happens in your business reflects your own effort and mindset.
Are you investing in a culture of development and personal growth? Are principles in place and consistently supported?
Is your sales process clear and transparent for the customer?
And finally, are your team’s techniques, questions, and comments always steering the conversation toward a successful sale?

Flexibility takes its shape into a distinguished lever in every aspect of business operations as you further in your growth journey. This holds true for recruitment, true. As you expand your teams, flexibility becomes imperative for the talent you hire. In a hiring scene such as this, temporary recruitment bails you out.
How can this become your business’s safe zone? The flexibility that temporary recruitment brings to your recruitment gives you room to breathe. Furthermore, temporary staff boosts your organizational agility by managing workloads effectively with a team that’s lean yet remarkably scalable. By harnessing temporary talent pools, you don’t just create a stopgap alternative to smoothly critical projects but also strategically plan out the progression of your permanent staff. In a way, temporary talent allows you to stay nimble with market shifts, making your recruitment efforts practical and responsive. This article offers a pragmatic view of temporary staffing, how it works and how best to leverage it to bring out a strategic advantage for your growing business goals.
As your business ages, you’ll run into settings with unforeseeable project requirements, wobbling workforce stability and impulsive demand for temporary employees. Contemplate having to migrate between high-performing permanent employees on long vacations with critical project deadlines around the corner. How do you strike a balance?
A well-laid temporary recruitment strategy salvages you from the wreck of having to deal with missed deadlines and tarnished customer relationships. Moreover, temporary recruitment is applicable to any industry. And more so in some specific industries. For instance, industries such as healthcare, retail, manufacturing and administrative support frequently turn to temporary staff during peak seasons.
Further, temporary employees add an extra layer of agility to your organization. This piece of the talent pie isn’t on the lookout for job stability and long-term security. Thus, it becomes a promising course of action for activities that command speed, skill and short-term impact.
Just as you’re about to navigate this effective workforce management framework, discover how temporary staffing distinctively solves your workforce needs.
Discover effective tactics to attract exceptional temporary talent. Dive into this insightful article. read more
Temporary staffing is built around defined timelines. This implies that your recruitment team is equipped with the agility to employ resources only for a fixed period of time. Additionally, temporary recruitment has you covered for immediate resource allocation. Since these resources are employed for a brief period, they’re absorbed into your system in no time.
With temporary recruitment, you hire talent by planting an employment end date in their minds. Since these resources work on a project basis, your talent retention costs become negligible. Furthermore, you’ll come across temporary talent in classifications such as freelancers and contractors. Although these classifications describe non-permanent hires, they may differ in sourcing structure and autonomy.
Beyond its potential to become a tactical decision, temporary recruitment handles aggressive workforce needs. With temporary talent, you can quickly fill vacancies, cover employee absenteeism, design exclusive support for specific projects and even create a bench for permanent talent.
Here’s a rationale for you to narrow down on hiring temporary talent, not just for a recruitment quick fix but to design an actionable roadmap.
1. smart scale-up for peak seasons
Every year comes with predictable seasonal spikes in workloads. For instance, retail holidays, tax deadlines or end-of-quarter reporting clue in unique talent demands. Instead of scrabbling to meet this recruitment pressure, they can turn to temporary talent.
With temporary talent roped in, you’re equipped to respond to such gripping talent scenarios with speed and precision. Additionally, the temporary staff brings specialized skills and a fresh wave of energy to your existing teams. How does this prepare your workforce? Your permanent employees can now shift their focus to core business activities while the temporary staff steers through the surge.
keeping
Absences due to illness or personal leave can catch teams off guard, putting projects at risk and overtaxing the time and effort of the rest of the workforce. Such ambiguity elbows your operational efficiency in responding fast. So, what’s your stopgap solution?
A skilled temporary talent pool fills this flexibility deficit Temporary talent is quite adept with changing jobs and can harmoniously blend expertise and availability. Approaching temporary talent for to address urgent business needs helps you maintain workplace productivity, protects morale and preserves business momentum.
3. deadline-driven talent, on demand
Managing project-based work often means juggling evolving priorities, interim tasks, and hard deadlines. If so, flexible recruitment must be part of your organizational DNA. Temporary recruitment is forged around this sort of function.
In essence, temporary talent humps into high-stakes environments and can provide expertise centered on project goals and timelines. However, these professionals are grounded in highly dynamic settings and aren’t suitable for permanent positions.
That said, choosing temporary talent means less downtime and peace of mind, which comes with more productivity and a distinguished brand image achieved with uncompromising service excellence. Additionally, this ensures that every project spike, whether seasonal or steady, will come out on top. And who gets the glory? A well-laid-out temporary recruitment strategy.
Temporary recruitment gives you a distinctive chance to evaluate talent’s performance in real time. By offering temporary staff a short stint of your project delivery, you can amass data showcasing their technical and behavioral strengths and improvement areas. Second, you can decide whether to draw in temporary talent for the long haul, basis this experiential data.
Furthermore, by employing temporary talent, you can even understand your project delivery environment at the ground level. How can that be?
With shorter project durations and tight deadlines, you’re left with no choice but to constantly interact and review the performance of your temporary employees. Moreover, this approach curtails delay risks associated with starting a brand new permanent hiring cycle and helps you take long-term hiring decisions confidently.
Read our insightful article and discover how temporary recruitment is much more than a stop gap alternative, but a long-term growth strategy.

the comfort temporary recruitment provides
You chalk out a temporary recruitment plan for instant talent support. Yet, this stopgap alternative can shape your long-term growth objectives in profound ways you would otherwise haven’t witnessed. This accessible pool of gig talent is ready to hit the ground running without an exception. Thus, this approach to talent sourcing and hiring can close the talent gaps, while also conserving business continuity.
Temporary recruitment brings the flexible workforce advantage in-house. Additionally, it introduces fresh perspectives and dependable talent while reducing outlays. This section explores the principal advantages of temporary recruitment.
1. tap into niche expertise
The epoch of temporary talent lingering somewhere as patchwork in your recruitment efforts is swiftly diminishing. The modern-day gig workforce personifies efficiency, dependability and proficiency. In essence, temporary staffing is a deliberate move toward outcome-driven hiring.
What’s the upshot? Temporary hiring gives your access to on-demand talent a lift and fills in the talent void. Not any talent, but talent with expert domain skills. Instead of investing months in searching, onboarding and training a permanent hire, you can leverage highly skilled but temporary talent already in reserve.
The gist? Temporary recruitment equips you with operational efficiency while you have a lean workforce something increasingly essential in today’s project-driven workplace.
When you need to act fast, temporary recruitment delivers always. This diminished time-tohire is possible because of curated talent pools and streamlined vetting procedures. With temporary recruitment, there’s no need to sift through dozens of resumes or run multiple interview rounds.
This perk clearly lets you cash in tons of valuable man hours spent in evaluating talent and onboarding talent. Plus, temporary recruitment cuts post-hire administration. This means that the logistics to handle the benefits and payroll of temporary staff are often outsourced. This expands the throughput of your HR teams to invest their energies in more pressing and meaningful organizational initiatives.
Besides speeding up your hiring operations, temporary talent can significantly cut costs, not to mention the long-term costs associated with hiring permanent talent. For instance, permanent recruitment comes with hidden costs such as health insurance, employee benefits and paid time off.
What does this mean for your operational expenses? As you age and your deliverables expand, your recruitment overheads increase, stalling your real investments growth undertakings and opportunity financing.
On the contrary, temporary hiring alleviates that burden by stabilizing your fixed payroll expenses. In other words, you don’t need to pay a fortune in salary and commitment to bring in a temporary workforce.
Moreover, when you outsource temporary recruitment services from a staffing agency such as Randstad, you steer clear of hidden hiring costs. What are these costs? The cost of sourcing, interviewing, recruiting, onboarding and overseeing paperwork.
Temporary talent is not just a fill-in or buffer during peak seasons. It’s a solid business strategy supporting accelerated growth and business diversification. With a staffing partner always standing by you, you can sidestep from the legwork of administrative functions and focus on more initiatives that act in favor of your business growth.
