October – Sports History Film Festival: Step back in time through the lens of sports history. We’ll feature classic films and documentaries that showcase legendary athletes, pivotal moments, and the cultural impact of sports throughout history
November – Día de los Muertos Sugar Skull Decorating Workshop: Celebrate the traditions of Día de los Muertos with a hands-on workshop where participants can design and decorate sugar skulls. This colorful cultural experience honors heritage, remembrance, and creativity.

Josh Farley: Magician & Illusionist

For over 10 years, Josh Farley has delivered unforgettable corporate entertainment, from strolling magic that sparks conversation to high-energy stage performances that leaves audience in awe Prepare to be amazed with his hour long Magic & Illusions show at Bay Lake!

Since stepping onto the stage, Josh Farley’s magic has been showcased on CW’s Penn & Teller: Fool Us, headlining Celebrities of Magic and guest headlining Masters of Illusion Live! alongside one of his heroes. His performances have reached hundreds of thousands in person, with millions more viewing his unforgettable Penn & Teller act
Grateful to make a living doing what he loves, Josh brings his unique blend of wonder and showmanship to audiences nationwide. Beyond theaters and stage lights, he dedicates time to performing in senior living communities a tradition inspired by his grandmother, who encouraged him to follow his dream.
Every show is a chance to share joy, connect, and create moments of magic. As Josh travels the country, he invites audiences to be part of the journey one magical memory at a time

The Unique Art Movement of Pointillism

Pointillism is a technique of painting in which small, distinct dots of color are applied in patterns to form an image George Seurat and Paul Signac developed this technique in 1886, branching from Impressionism We will have a brief overview on the movement, it's artists and work. We will then create a unique and colorful painting using the technique of applying small dots of color to make our painting.
Hilma AF Klint

Hilma AF Klint: a Swedish artist whose paintings are considered among the first major abstract works in Western art history. Hilma Klint is a largely unknown Swedish artist who was a pioneer in abstract art, She created some of the earliest known paintings in an abstract style. Her work focused on spiritual concepts and mystical ideas. Her style was very distinct with geometric patterns We will discuss this interesting artist as well as look at a variety of her paintings Our painting will be influenced by her distinct style
Art and the Brain

Engaging with art stimulates various brain regions, enhances cognitive functions, and can promote emotional well-being. The benefits of creating art are numerous and influence the practice of art therapy. We will have an overview of how art affects us both physically and emotionally Our painting will be an expressive painting focused on mindfulness

Emily Basto received an MS in Art Therapy from Eastern Virginia Medical School in 2009. She has her undergraduate degree in Sociology and Anthropology. Her interest in other cultures and customs influences many of her art projects. She currently works with older adults and really enjoys this community in various settings. Emily hopes to continue to promote art therapy services and highlight the many benefits

Join Juju for an energizing drumming class that’s all about rhythm, expression, and connection In this interactive session, residents will explore the basics of hand drumming, learn traditional patterns, and experience the joy of making music together No prior experience is needed just a willingness to have fun and feel the beat. Drumming with Juju is more than a class; it’s a celebration of culture, creativity, and community.

Gary L. Garlic aka “Ju Ju”, born Dec. 21, 1970 in Washington, DC is a musician, bandleader, percussion instructor, band director, author, and entrepreneur As a young percussionist, Ju Ju came to Hampton Roads in 1988 as a music education major at Norfolk State University. After leaving college to pursue a career in music, he has had the privilege of performing for a living since 1994 when he was hired as a drummer at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. From there, Ju Ju played cruise ships, and toured He has shared the stage with some very good company, including the Temptations, Chris Vadala (from Chuck Mangione), Najee, gospel legend Albertina Walker, and currently Donna Summer.
Ju Ju plays drums, bass, vibraphone, latin percussion, steel drum, and will soon be a heck of a spoon player! As a teacher, Ju Ju directs 2 bands, 2 percussion ensembles, 2 drumlines, and a large number of private students
As a businessman, Ju Ju is proprietor of Ju Ju Drum Entertainment, founded in 2002. Ju Ju’s plan is to continue to “provide premium entertainment”

The Virginia Beach Surf & Rescue Museum honors and preserves the history of Virginia’s coastal communities and maritime heritage The scope of the Museum’s exhibits begins with the Virginia Beach Community and extends to subjects related to Virginia’s oceanfront, coastal and water-related heritage.

Robert Kelly is a graduate of Old Dominion University, where he received his Bachelor of History in 2009. While studying at ODU, Robert focused on Civil War, Virginia, and Maritime History. In January 2020, Robert was named Gloucester County’s Museums Coordinator and is responsible for the management of the Gloucester Museum of History
Benjamin Franklin - Savior of the American Revolution

Life Enrichment Director Colin Kindred invites residents to step back in time to the American Revolution in a class highlighting one of his favorite Founding Fathers, Benjamin Franklin. With a passion for history, Colin hopes to inspire and inform residents about the remarkable events and people who helped shape this great nation.

Treasured Memories Workshop

Grief Inspired proposes a partnership with Baylake Retirement and Assisted Living Community to provide a series of grief education, coaching, and support services for residents, family members, and staff The goal is to foster emotional wellness, increase resilience, and reduce the isolation and emotional burden that often accompany aging, loss, and transition.

Iatherine McNulty helps men and women who feel stuck in grief after heartbreaking loss move from feelings of loneliness, disconnection, and overwhelm to finding peace and emotional resilience so they can live with renewed joy, connection, and purpose With over nine years of coaching experience, she developed The New Paradigm of Grief, a compassionate approach that teaches healing doesn’t mean forgetting.
