A WORD FROM OUR CHIEF OPERATIONS OFFICER

DEAR TEAM,

Welcome to RUInsights Volume 4, reflecting on all we accomplished in Q3 2025 and looking ahead to an exciting close to the year. As summer 2025 unfolded, our communities came alive with adventure and joy from outdoor excursions in July to vibrant Luau celebrations in August, and the unforgettable National Assisted Living Week in September. These moments weren’t just events, they were proof of the passion, creativity, and connection that define RUI. The photos of residents and team members smiling together remind me daily that what we build here is more than a workplace, it’s a true home.

As we enter the busyness of the holiday season, I want to reinforce that feeling of “home” for residents, families, and each of you. Our communities are not only where residents live, but where families gather to reconnect and where you spend countless hours giving your best. That’s why a culture built on kindness, care, empowerment, respect, trust, and excellence isn’t just our goal, it’s essential to who we are.

This season, let’s continue to create spaces that inspire pride, purpose, and belonging. Make this not only an incredible place for our residents to live, but a place you’re proud to come to each day. A workplace where you know you’re supported, valued, and part of something meaningful.

Be the change you want to see. Be the teammate you’d want beside you. Be the support someone else needs. Because when you bring the best version of yourself each day, you inspire others to do the same.

Thank you for everything you do to make RUI a place our residents, and our people, truly call home.

SINCERELY,

Celebrating Ageless Adventure

From international culinary journeys to vibrant, carnivalinspired festivities, RUI’s National Assisted Living Week celebrations were nothing short of extraordinary. Team members and residents came together to make every day in our communities one to remember.

Excellence in all we do

Two of RUI’s Core Values, “excellence in all we do” and “no detail is too small,” are at the heart of everything we strive for in our communities, operations, and care These principles are essential to the success of our business, shaping the foundation of how we operate each day When our team members embrace and live out these values, we set ourselves up for excellence in every aspect of our work

Award-Winning Team

We are thrilled to announce that Amanda Waggy, Executive Director of our Aarondale community in Springfield, has been named 2025 Executive Director of the Year by the Virginia Healthcare Association – Virginia Center for Assisted Living (VHCA/VCAL). Her unwavering commitment to excellence is evident in everything she does, and

the success of the Aarondale community under her leadership speaks volumes We are incredibly proud of her dedication, vision, and impact, and we are grateful to VHCA/VCAL for recognizing her outstanding contributions Please join us in congratulating Amanda on this remarkable achievement!

A Decade of Grace

Paul Spring recently honored long-standing excellence during their Decade of Grace event, celebrating team members and residents who have been part of the community for ten years or more. This special occasion recognized the dedication, passion, and lasting impact of each individual, highlighting the incredible legacy they’ve helped build at Paul Spring that will be felt for years to come.

Team Member Recognition

There’s always a reason to celebrate the incredible people who make up our RUI family! Throughout Q3, we added a little fun and appreciation to each day by recognizing a variety of national holidays and special occasions.

members. It’s because of the dedication and hard work of each person across every department

In July, we marked National Lottery Day with raffle tickets and giveaways, bringing some extra excitement to the summer. September was all about honoring our departments during their national recognition weeks, including Payroll, Beauty & Barber, Environmental Services, IT, Food Service, and Human Resources.

Each celebration included a small token of appreciation or RUI swag goodies, serving as a reminder of just how much we value our team

As the seasons change, so do the flavors that inspire our kitchens. Autumn welcomes an abundance of fresh, seasonal produce that brings warmth and depth to every dish. This time of year, we see a colorful variety of squash, like pumpkin, acorn, and butternut, perfect for creating both sweet and savory recipes.

Seasonal fruits such as pomegranates and apples add brightness and texture, offering that signature crispness we all associate with fall Hearty greens like brussels sprouts and kale, along with root vegetables such as carrots and sweet potatoes, deliver the wholesome, earthy flavors that perfectly complement any plate

HISTORY OF THE BUILDING

Before being renovated, the Paul Spring building was home to Hollin Hills Elementary School from 1955 to 1980 hosting classes for kindergarten through 7 grade. th

When the school first opened, it featured eleven classrooms, a clinic, kitchen, cafeteria, and library. In two separate additions to the school, it received an additional nine classrooms. The school was used for an abundance of community events including church services, polio vaccination clinics, and screenings of “color films” to raise money for the school board.

However, after the influx of baby boomer students, enrollment rates decreased dramatically, leaving the school without kids to fill the classrooms causing it to close down after the end of the school year in 1980.

After sale and approval to turn the building into a senior living community, a full renovation of the space was completed to turn classrooms into upscale apartments. The building would also receive a large addition to make up the Paul Spring community we know today.
