RUINSIGHTS

RETIREMENT UNLIMITED, INC. (RUI) WAS FOUNDED, IN 1982 by two spirited entrepreneurs, Horace Fralin and Elbert Waldron. The close friends started out in construction, building single-family homes, when they saw a growing need for senior housing. They loved their families and saw a unique opportunity through their craft, to help provide the very best options for them as they aged. In the 1970s, Mr. Fralin and Mr. Waldron began to develop and run nursing homes. As their knowledge and love of taking care of seniors grew, developing assisted living communities also became a natural fit. RUI continues to be a family run business, deeply rooted in the values and traditions set forth by Mr. Fralin and Mr. Waldron’s dreams of providing the best for our loved ones.

A WORD FROM OUR CHIEF OPERATIONS OFFICER

A WELCOME FROM OUR CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

DEAR TEAM,

We are proud to present to you our second edition of RUInsights covering the happenings of Q4 and sharing the upcoming initiatives for the start of 2025. As we close out 2024, on behalf of RUI, I would like to thank you for the hard work and passion that you have brought into this last quarter. It has been a busy season of many holiday celebrations, and we have been pleased to see the engaging events held, the innovative strategies brought to the table, and the smiles of our residents as a result of your hard work. It is truly a team effort that moves us through these busy seasons and we have seen excellent communication and teamwork shining through this quarter.

It is no secret that we have gone through many changes this year, yet we have come out stronger on the other side. Moving into 2025, we look forward to continuing to not only bring innovation, but to act upon the new insights that these innovations bring. In this next year, our commitment remains“excellence in all we do” as we “deliver a lifestyle our residents have earned and deserve.”

SINCERELY,

RUIGIVESBACK

Our #RUIGivesBack initiative began, not from a team member idea, but by resident request. Check out where our #RUIGivesBack program has brought our residents and team members this quarter!

Ronald McDonald House:

Fairfax

County Fire and Rescue:

Paul Spring residents delivered care packages and gifts to show their heartfelt appreciation for the Fire Department and all they do for Paul Spring and the community!

Dresher Local Hospitals

What started as a WOW moment for a resident’s passion for teaching quilting and knitting, led to an RUIGivesBack idea after she passed. Brandywine Dresher Estates residents knitted blankets that were donated to local hospitals.

This holiday season, the Barrington at Hioaks family came together to donate toys and food to the Ronald McDonald House. Upon arrival for drop-off, they had the incredible opportunity to take pictures with the CEO, who was deeply grateful for the support.

Knights of Columbus Arlington Council 2473:

Aarondale residents packaged and delivered a variety of pies to the Knights of Columbus Arlington Council 2473. Their contributions helped provide over 3,000 Thanksgiving meals to neighbors in need.

Ashleigh at Lansdowne

Residents and team member from the Ashleigh at Lansdowne proudly showed their support at this year's Alzheimer's Walk! Together, they walked to raise awareness and funds for a cause close to their hearts.

In November, The Wellington at Lake Manassas collected non-perishable food items and personal hygiene supplies for the Haymarket Regional Food Pantry! They were able to donate over 100 lbs. of goods!

Residents at The Westmont at Short Pump participated in Operation Christmas Child. They put together 16 shoeboxes filled with toys, hygiene items, and school supplies to bring joy to children around the world.
