Hello Rotaractors!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all! We hope everyone is doing well and staying safe. We are proud to present the December edition of Tarang. We have come to the end of the 2nd quarter here and it has truly been an action-packed and colorful quarter. We saw marvelous events being planned and executed, from Talking Titans to Kreedotsava to Diwali celebrations and various community service projects. We have definitely grown as individuals by taking part in these projects, and we are embracing a fresh quarter. We will continue to have exciting and impactful projects online due to the sudden surge in COVID-19 cases. We urge all Rotaractors to actively participate in all events and projects as it will create a larger impact on society if we have more hands joining together to make a difference. May we take this platform to say that, if you have any project ideas that we can implement, do get in touch with any of the board members and you will be presented with the opportunity to be the project chair for your idea.

Disease Prevention and Treatment Month The Rotary Theme for December is Disease Prevention and Treatment. Rotary's top priority is the eradication of polio, but our members take on far greater responsibilities to fight disease. They set up health camps and training facilities in undeveloped countries and in communities struggling with HIV/AIDS and malaria.

They also design and build the infrastructure for doctors, nurses, governments, and partners to reach the one in six people in the world who can't afford to pay for healthcare. Rotary was a huge factor in the eradication of polio. In recent times, Rotary helped set up vaccination camps for COVID-19 and played a key role in achieving vaccination of all people.

Events Of December

1. Kreedotsava Kreedotsava was a fundraiser under the Community Service Avenue held on 5th December. We raised funds for educating underprivileged children which will be held under the official project name, Roshni. Kreedotsava raised funds by playing sports like cricket, tug-of-war, throwball, and football. We had over 19 clubs participating in Kreedotsava, with a total of 300 participants. Rotaract Club of Bangalore partnered with Rotaract clubs of SSMRV, BMSCW, and Surana College and we had our Chief Guest as the MLA of Jayanagar - Sowmya Reddy gracing us with her presence along with esteemed guest of honor Rtn. John Bruno – District Youth Service Director who imparted valuable words of wisdom. Kreedotsava faced many obstacles but we pulled off a successful fundraiser and all participants had a gala time.

2. Orientation for New Members On 8th December, we conducted an orientation session for four new members.

The new members and board members introduced themselves and Rtr. Chaula Dixit briefed the new members about Rotary, Rotaract, how Districts work, the hierarchy of roles and responsibilities, avenues, and projects conducted. The board members shared their experiences as well. The session concluded with a small game.

3. Utpulta On 12th December, the Rotary Club of Bangalore partnered with our club for Utpulta, the flagship swimming competition held at Netkalappa Aquatic Center.

We saw over 200 participants. We helped the Rotarians out with registrations and general logistics throughout the event, and we had a great time.

4. Vidyadaan On 15th December, we conducted Vidyadaan, an initiative to educate the youth, at Rotary Bangalore Vidyalaya. We held this project along with our Interact Club of RBV. Free textbooks and stationery were distributed which brought out huge smiles from the children.

5. Orientation for New Members In this quarter, we saw a huge influx of new members! We conducted an orientation session on 16th December for 3 new members. We had an introductory session, following which the board members shared their experiences and spoke a lot about the various projects and avenues, which motivated the new members to be active.

6. RCB Speaker Series On 22nd December, we had an informative session on stress management and anger management by Ms. Taapti Malhotra getting in touch with us all the way from Delhi, on Google Meet. She focused on mental health and she motivated us to be better versions of ourselves. She walked us through the areas of stress management. It was a calming session and all the 65 participants took away something from it.

7. General Body Meeting and Christmas Celebrations The GBM was held on 26th December at the Rotary House of Friendship. President Rtr. Nandan Jog spoke about the club’s performance and discussed the points scored as per the District’s guidelines, and we have done extremely well in the points table.

The BODs briefed everyone on their respective avenues and spoke about future projects. DRRE Rtr. Joseph Wilson imparted some wisdom for the next two quarters and motivated us to conduct impactful projects. After adjourning the meeting, we had the fellowship part of the meeting by participating in Secret Santa followed by dinner and group pictures.

8. Chit-Chat with the Youngest Rotarians On 30th December, we had an engaging and interesting conversation with Rtn. Meera Bai Shankar and Rtn. Sita Laksmi Chinappa, or as they are lovingly called the youngest Rotarians. They enriched us with life lessons and their life experiences and anecdotes. They recalled their youth days and spoke a lot about it.

Our Rotaractors loved this session so much that we will be organizing more chitchat sessions like these. We thoroughly enjoyed listening to them and engaging with them.

RCB's Got Talent

3. New Car Alert!

Rtr. Saravanan purchased his very first car! He says, “It is my first car.I love the color, performance and body structure. It has very nice features as well. I am happy with the way I grow every year. Thanks for all the people who is with me all the time in my life!!”.
