It was an amazing experience for us all, and we are thankful to our Parent club for giving us an opportunitytoservethecommunity.
History: Durga Puja, also known as Durgotsava or Sharodotsava, is an annual Hindu festival originating in India which reveres and pays homage to the Hindu goddess Durga and is also celebrated because of Durga's victory over Mahishasur. Its significance is the victory of goddess Durga in her battle against the shape-shifting asura, Mahishasura. The victory of good over evil, though it is also in part a harvest festival celebrating the goddess asthemotherlypowerbehindalloflifeandcreation.

A Bite of Luxury
A Bite of Luxury’ was a brilliant initiative that aimed to promote healthy dietary habits among our members. We partnered with the Rotaract Club of Presidency College, Rotaract Club of Bengaluru United, and Rotaract Club of Swarna Bengaluru. A listof50fooditemswasselectedthatareconsumed on a daily basis in our households. Various foodies and other enthusiastic people joined us in this challenge, there was a common group created with all the participants and we had a great fellowship. Among the 45 participants, 10 of them completed all 50 items and went on to add new healthy food items to their diet. This project’s aim is to show how often we incorporate junk food, and this initiative served as an eye opener of how many other better food options we have. This initiative commenced on 16th October and lasted till the 31st, and by the end of this course, almost all the ors who participated felt a difference. Our Rtn. Joseph Wilson was also part of this e!

We successfully completed the fundraiser by selling 40 hampers and all sets of diyas. This was an incredible learning experience for all of us with lots of challenges and opportunities.

On 29th October, during Rotafest we saw the participation of 60+ super enthusiastic children from Rotary Bangalore Vidyalaya. The students participated in the majority of events, winning several awards. We are extremely proud and happy for each student and their amazing talent! On 30th October, at Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, we conducted Shark Tank. It was an event as part of the district event, Rotafest, inspired by the show Shark Tank, to provide Rotaractors with hands-on experience of the broader concepts involved in entrepreneurship. The event had 8 teams participating and a total of 3 rounds - questionnaire and case study round, capital & profit round, and the final pitch round. Wehadthreejudges, allaccomplishedindividualsintheirown fields, judging the event. In the first round, the participants had to complete a questionnaire and defend a case study given to them. In the second round, they were given a capital of Rs.100 and had to make a profit through a product or service. Taking the cumulative scores of the first two rounds, the top four teams were the finalists who pitched their ideas to the sharks.
Mic Drop
On 18th October, under the Professional Development Avenue, Rtr. Chaula interviewed DRRE Rtr. Rtn. Arun Teja, and on 29th October, Rtr. Mohanapriya interviewed Rtr. Rtn. Sachin Durai, the District Joint Secretary. Both interviews went on smoothly, and we were able to increase our social media engagement as well! The interviewees from the District were pleasant and we were able to connect with them on a personal andprofessionallevel.
Kantara
Following the Zumba session on the 30th of October, our members met up for one of the best movies made in this year, Kantara. It portrayed the roots of South India spiritually, and the entire production of large-scale movies during the pandemic with a low budget. The film conveys culture, action, and raw romance weaving in the ‘Nature vs Man’ dynamic emphasizing the message of protecting our nature as it protects us. Every character in the movie stands out, with rich depth and thought. Every sequence beautifully captures the spirit of the movie. It delves into the Animism culture and worship of Demigods in Dakshina Karnataka, Tulu-speaking regions, capturing the traditional Kambala and Bhoota Kola traditions. There is a brilliant display of symbolism tracing back to the Hindu God, Shiva. The sound score matches the intensity of the movie and packages it into an absolutecinematicdelight. This is a wonderful milestone and a proud moment for the Kannada film industry and for the nation as a whole - as it showcases the rich culture of ourland.
RCB's GOT TALENT
The Eco-friendly Journey
Rtr. Sahana has an interesting story about her zero-waste journey!Shesaid, ”My zero waste journey began at the start of 2020. Although I had never heard of zero waste before, I've always been that person who carries the waste in my own bag (especially the chocolatecover)tillIfoundaplacetothrowit. Avoidingplastic, disposingofwasteinaproperway, andusing public transport has led me to care for the environment even more. This led me to a new world I'd never seen before - The Zero Waste Lifestyle. All it takes is, being mindful of the things you do every day. I started composting at home, hence all the wet waste we generated got converted into compost. I haveharvestedaround4to5batchesofblackgoldsofar.With the small space available, I started growing greens likemethi, coriander, palak, pudina, and veggies like tomato, capsicum, and green chilies. Carrying reusables on the go is my favorite of all. water bottle, cutlery set, steel staw, collapsible glass as I'm a coffee lover reduces many plastic wastes like paper cups, plastic straws, spoons, etc. The other ways in which I reduce my carbon footprint was by using a bamboo toothbrush, natural loofah, wooden earbuds, reusable makeup wipes, paper bin lines, and soap nuts for dosh washing.”
Rangoli Art
Rtr. Pujashree beautifully created rangoli for Diwali! She said, “This is a dot pattern Rangoli with multicolors adorned by lit earthendiyas.
This is traditionally done on the day of Lakshmi Puja during Deepawali.”
