Dear Readers, It gives us immense pleasure to bring to you the August issue of Tarang, the monthly magazine of Rotaract Club of Bangalore! It is a small but meaningful step towards creating a bond among all of our fellow members. We apologize for the delay in releasing the August edition!

In the current issue, we have covered the events organised by us in August, among which the Installation Ceremony is the biggest one. Additionally, we have launched a new section in Tarang, ‘RCB’s Got Talent’. We will cover the following1. Any award or certificate you have received (Rotaract or any other club) 2. Anything you created or made (art works like paintings, stories, dishes or any initiatives) 3. Any achievement from your company or college (awards, certificates, recognitions, etc.)

Due to the ongoing pandemic, we were unable to do many offline projects, but we have organized some online events which were fruitful and engaging. We hope to start working a lot more on ground as soon as the situation improves. We appreciate your endurance in these tough times. It’s comforting to think about happier times ahead. Till then, stay safe and stay cool. We hope you will enjoy this issue just as you enjoyed our inaugural issue.

Events of August

Orientation for New Members The orientation for new members was an engaging and informative session conducted by the Board of Directors on 1st August, 2021. DRRE Rtr. Joseph Wilson explained the structure of Rotaract Clubs, right from an individual club to the District and International level. A campaign called “We are Hiring” was launched to attract the new members to the different avenues. Based on this, the directors of the four avenues explained their avenues and encouraged the new members to join them in service. They encouraged the members to take up roles of Project Chairs and take part in all meetings and projects. The orientation left the members encouraged and informed about Rotaract Club of Bangalore. So far, over 10 new members have joined the RCB family and we wish them a fruitful journey.

Independence Day Independence Day was celebrated on 15th August, 2021 at Rotary Bangalore Vidyalaya. Rotaract Club of Bangalore held this project in collaboration with Rotaract Club of SSMRV College, Rotaract Club of Bengaluru United, Rotaract Club of Bangalore Uttarahalli and Rotaract Club of Surana College. There was a flag hoisting ceremony along with the students, teachers & Rotarians. Each of the clubs planted one sapling. Following which, the Rotaractors had an interactive session with the students who graduated 10th standard and the Rotaractors distributed a set of 3 motivational books to each student. The event was attended by 24 Rotaractors from 6 different clubs. The celebration of the 75th Independence Day was a grand success and it was utilized to benefit students and the environment.

Vaccination Drive Free vaccination drives were conducted by Rotaract Club of Bangalore in collaboration with our Parent Club- Rotary Club of Bangalore and BBMP at Rotary House of Friendship and Rotary Bangalore Vidyalaya on 19th August and 27th August, 2021 respectively. The vaccination drive was conducted in a systematic and organized manner. Our Rotaractors, Rtr. Joseph, Rtr. Syed, Rtr. Shreyas, Rtr. Uday, Rtr. Jagadeesh and Rtr. Veeresh coordinated with people who came to get their vaccine and the hospital staff. Over 240 doses of vaccines were administered, and the drive was a huge success. On 27th August at Rotary Bangalore Vidyalaya, parents of the students, along with the general public, were given vaccines free of cost. Their parents are daily wage workers, vegetable vendors and flower vendors. Conducting these free vaccination drives was fulfilling and successful.

Installation Ceremony The 53rd installation ceremony of the Rotaract Club of Bangalore was a grand success. It was held at Rotary House of Friendship, which was also streamed live on Zoom. The ceremony began with the collaring of the outgoing president, Rtr. Deepan by the outgoing secretary, Rtr. Hari Prasad, followed by the invocation dance by the youngest Rotarian, Rtn. Pooja Srinivas. The multi-faith prayer was said by Rtr. Syed, who read from the Quran, Rtr. Neha Gupta, who read from the Bhagavad Gita and Rtr. Kavitha James, who read from the Bible. DRRE Rtr. Joseph Wilson said the Four Way Test, which is the crux of any Rotary and Rotaract Club. The dignitaries for the ceremony, Chief Guest, B B Ashok Kumar, Former Assistant Commissioner of Police Guest of Honor, Mr. Amith Amarnath, Founder & President of Youth For Parivarthan. District Rotaract Committee Chair, Unikrishnan Menon, District Rotaract Committee Co-Chair, Mahesh Iyer, YSD OF RCB Rtn. Solomon Paramel and DRR Rtr. Anurag Patwary lit the lamp, following which the dignitaries took their seats on the dias. The outgoing President of Rotaract Club of Bangalore, Rtr. Deepan addressed the gathering and presented the projects done in 2020-21 through a video. The incoming President of Rotaract Club of Bangalore, Rtr. Nandan Jog was introduced by DRRE Rtr. Joseph Wilson and was installed by Rtn. Gowri Oza and Rtn. Girish Rmanathan. Rtr. Nandan was handed the gong and gavel by Rtr. Deepan and delivered his acceptance speech.

He went on to introduce his board, consisting of 22 members, one of the biggest boards Rotaract Club of Bangalore has seen till date. The BODs were installed by President Rtn. Girish, Chief Guest B B Ashok Kumar and Guest of Honor Amith Amarnath. The new members were inducted by DRR Rtr. Anurag Patwary. The theme logo, letterhead, t-shirts, standee and the first newsletter of Rotaract Club of Bangalore, Tarang was launched. An MOU was signed between Rotaract Club of Bangalore and Youth For Parivarthan. All the dignitaries on the dias were introduced and gave motivational speeches, which motivated and encouraged our Rotaractors to achieve grand levels of success in this year. The vote of thanks was delivered and the ceremony concluded with the National Anthem, followed by group pictures and fellowship.

Psych!

As a Club Service initiative, a fellowship event in collaboration with Rotaract Club of Nagarbhavi, on 27th August, was organized where the members played PSYCH! It’s a fun and interactive game where people guess things based on a theme. Game night increased interaction among our members and new bonds were made with the Rotaract Club of Nagarbhavi. It was a fun-filled event and it was enjoyed by everyone.

RCB Speaker Series RCB Speaker Series was established in 2019 under the Professional Development Avenue. The first speaker of this year was Rtr. Shreyas Uttarkar.

He is a professional marketer and one of his many strengths is designing. He gave an informative session on marketing, brand and branding, social media and designing on Canva on 29th August, 2021.The contents of his session were•What is new in marketing – social media marketing through TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn etc.

•What is a brand and branding – how does a brand maintain its identity?

•The uniqueness of maintaining the color palette and social media marketing tactics.

•Viewer response to influencers and marketing brands through them.

•How to create a simple poster using Canva.

•How to edit an image, remove the background and save your work on Canva.

RCB’s Got Talent

Woof, A Love Story (- Sadhwika Peri) This is a tale of love, the expression of the untold story put in words for the speechless one , their innocence deserves this glory.

Snoofy was the little guys name , He was a little brother to us since the day he came His eyes were all he needed to speak , Naughty and strong , the one who never fell weak. he came to our home for a temporary stay , he loved to lick the feet , walk and play . we took care of him like he was one of us now but we knew he had to go back even if our hearts didnt allow after a few months it was time to say good bye hoping to see his wagging tail again , we sent him without a cry he reached back to his pretty family back again wagged his tail till they played every possible game. he had gone home after a long ride there he meets his neighbor with silky furr, sparkling white he looked at her , bubbles was her name , the pretty eyes locked together and the wagging tails started the game.

he would walk with her every evening , play with her and sniff her with a little teasing Checked on her every possible time of the day , And leave his loo mark when she is away.

He made sure she knew he was there , Licked and walked together with his cursh dear She had a bit of pride in her But she couldn't also help but fall over .

It was time they let those love birds get together , They made their puppy love Hoping to take it further But it was just for love and fun , The babies weren't yet destined to come....

One day it was the time for a walk , Playfully he got off to the gate with a bark , His brother went to catch hold of him and started to run But the lil guy thought it was a game and ran ahead for fun It was a long street , the other dogs to fear , Little did our guy know and ran close and near His brother ran to stop him before the paths cross In a matter of second , he was surrounded by the raging dogs

His mother ran to him and took him in the arms , He shriveled and shrinked to the size of our palms.

She cried in shock and shouted his name in disbelief, Like a miracle he looked up , his eyes spoke of fear and ours of relief.

Our boy was punctured with bites of the natorious dogs , We dressed his wounds but he was still in shock.

A few stitches were needed the vet said , There was a bite on his jaw and head.

The one who was the life of the house lay weak on the bed , None could bear , all cried their eyes out red .

He needed time to get out of the trauma and fear , We weren't ready to loose our brother so dear With a ray of hope we tried to cheer him up , And called bubbles to play as we dress him up .

His eyes sparked like that of crystal water , looked at her and wagged his tail , And with her around he wasn't so frail.

But his wouldnds hadn't healed and came what we feared, The stitches came open and the pain seared.

Bubbles had come home with the others while we called the vet Her eyes filled with tears we hadn't noticed yet

Hoping for the best , we started to ride , But she sat in one corner facing the opposite side .

Like she knew it was done , Like she knew what had come He lost his breath on the way, She sat here at home in his place favorite place , night and day , there was a silence in the house , no one to run around , no one to ask for a walk , no one to bark at every sound

Here was bubbles , She was only a dog you would say , You wouldn't expect see what came next in the way .

She didn't eat for 3 days straight , She had lost her love , to depression she became a bait wasnt long and she was diagnosed pseudo pregnant , To us it seemed like the world just suddenly went stagnant.

She had started to believe she carried the baby of his Although she dosnt ,and started milking as it is It took her an year to come out of depression , Starting again was the only possible desicion.

We couldn't fill his emptiness till date , Dogs are the most beautiful creatures that God could create

Forgetfulness "Forgetfulness is a form of freedom. The only thing faster than the speed of thought is the speed of forgetfulness."

When somebody does something wrong to you it creates a particular feeling inside you, which is quite obvious. Now you have two ways to proceed from here- forgetfulness or revenge.

Forgetfulness is a way of life and the ideal way out, but after all you are a human. Sometimes you have to snatch the joy of your bad wishers. They don’t deserve it at the cost of your pain. You don’t deserve pain. Wherever you have reached in life so far, you must have put a lot of talent and hard work, but again talent is not the only ingredient of success.

As James Baldwin says, "Talent is insignificant. I know a lot of talented ruins.

Beyond talent lie all the unusual words: discipline, love, luck, but, most of all, endurance." Endurance is the key. If you have practiced endurance for so long, practicing forgetfulness at the end will be difficult, and here comes the litmus test. If you are able to practice forgetfulness after reaching at some significant point and then experiencing the pain, you will become the epitome of idealism.

1. Vamsidhar Atturi Rtr. Vamsidhar Atturi is an engineering student. His interests are public speaking, blogging, and sharing knowledge. He likes to play football and badminton in his free time.

He started his Rotaract journey in the year 2021-22 at the Rotaract Club of Bangalore. He is looking forward to acquiring as much knowledge as he can from every member of the club and developing a culture in the club.

2. Navya K Rtr. Navya K is a 2nd year PUC student. She plays badminton, throwball, tennis, and chess. Her passions and hobbies include dancing, singing, listening to audiobooks, blogging, learning new languages, driving, photography, public speaking, essay writing, and human science. She is eager to engage herself in the service of humanity and take on eco-friendly projects too. She began her Rotaract journey in 2021-22 at the Rotaract Club of Bangalore.
