Hello, fellow Rotaractors!

We hope everyone has been doing well and staying safe. We are proud to present the January edition of Tarang. We have embarked on the latter half of the Rota-Year and our Rotaract spirits are just as high as they were back in July 2021. We are enthralled to witness your energy, and we wish to see many more members grabbing any opportunity presented to shine. We will continue to have exciting and impactful projects online due to the sudden surge in COVID-19 cases. We urge all our members to actively participate in all events and projects as it will create a larger impact on society if we have more hands joining together to make a difference. May we take this platform to say that, if you have any project ideas that we can implement, do get in touch with any of the board members and you will be presented with the opportunity to be the project chair for your idea. We also encourage our members to make use of Tarang’s special column, RCB’s Got Talent, where we celebrate anything you have achieved in your personal or professional life, or anything you have created or done, like paintings, poems, cooking new dishes or photography. It can be anything at all and we love seeing our members accessing their creative side!

We hope you enjoy reading the January edition of Tarang as much as we enjoyed creating and designing it for you!

Rotary theme of the month

Vocational Service Month January is Vocational Service Month. Vocational Service focuses on:

●

Adherence to and promotion of the highest ethical standards in all occupations, including fair treatment of employers, employees, associates, competitors, and the public.

● The recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, not just those that are pursued by Rotarians.

● The contribution of your vocational talents to solving the problems of society and meeting the needs of the community.

During January, Rotarians are encouraged to focus on this important avenue of Rotary service. Discussions on vocational service can lead to projects that not only develop the ethical consciousness and vocational skills of Rotarians but also the talents within their communities. Vocational Service Month is an opportunity to begin year-long vocational service activities, ranging from Rotary discussions to awards to community projects

Events of January

1. Lockdown Gimmick On 8th January, as a Club Service initiative, we had a fun series of games and brain teasers organized. We collaborated with six clubs and it was a huge success. We played games like Crack the Riddles, Emoji Quiz, Movie Quiz, Guess the Logo and Guess the Personality. Points were allotted to all teams to maintain the spirit of sportsmanship. It was a great way to interact with members from other clubs and build bonds with them.

2. RCB Speaker Series: Corona and More On 15th January, we had an informative RCB Speaker Series session on COVID-19. The speaker was Dr. Arjun M.B, an internal medicine consultant at Manipal Hospitals. He holds a certificate of training in COVID management, diabetes care from Royal College, London, and palliative care. He shared his knowledge of COVID-19, its types, common signs and symptoms, various methods of prevention, myths associated with it. He also shared his experience as a frontline warrior last year. He enriched us with his experiences, information and precautionary measures which was followed by an interactive Q&A session. We saw over 100 participants.

3. Sankranti with Metro Workers On 14th January, we celebrated Sankranti with the Metro construction workers, who work tirelessly even during holidays. This was our way of saying ‘thank you’ to them.

We took sweets, gifts, and food for them and we saw the brightest smiles we have ever seen on their faces! It was truly a heartwarming experience.

4. Booster Dose Vaccination Drive On 21st January, we organized a free booster dose vaccination drive for people aged 60 and above, in collaboration with BBMP and our parent Rotary Club, Rotary Club of Bangalore. We saw a total of 80 people come and get their dose.

5. Republic Day Blood Donation Drive On 26th January, we collaborated with 9 other Rotaract Clubs for flag hoisting and the blood donation camp. We assembled at Rotary House of Friendship for a flag hoisting ceremony, then we dispatched in blood donation vans to various locations like Surana College, Lalbagh, Devagowda Petrol Bunk, AIMS College, RIMS College, BTM Layout etc. We had over 40 donors. It was a successful event.

6. Inception with DRRE Rtr. Joseph Wilson On 30th January, we had Inception with our very own Rtr. Joseph Wilson! Inception is an initiative through which we get an opportunity to have a one-on-one discussion between a Rotaract Club and our District Rotaract Representative-Elect 2021-22 - Rtr. Joseph Wilson. Rtr. Joseph explained the structure and working to new members and had a round of introduction with all members. He gave us a glimpse of the various initiatives that would be present in the district in the upcoming term. We had a brainstorming segment on the current scheme of things, and what can be improved in both Clubs & the District. We also had discussions regarding starting new projects & also fundraising ideas. It was an enriching and fun experience and we wish DRRE Rtr. Joseph Wilson the very best for his role!

RCB's Got Talent

1. Nature Rtr. Rakshith R Gupta has beautifully captured nature in his photographs! He says, “Nature is beauty and beauty is nature. Everywhere, nature is beautiful in one way or the other. The beauty of nature has been a source of inspiration and delight to mankind. It is an endless source of joy. Dew drops on the green grass look like pearls. Sunrise is a lovely scene of nature. Setting Sun, starry night, silvery light of the Moon, the beauties of nature soothe our eyes, gladden our hearts and ennoble our souls.”

2. Grab Your Suitcases!

Our fellow traveler, Rtr. Chaula visited Mumbai this month and she had a lovely time!

She said, “I went to Mumbai on 31st Dec with my 2 friends. We went to places like Siddhi Vinayak temple, Marine Drive, Imagica amusement park, Juhu, Bandstand and Gateway of India. This trip was all about roaming around in metro, local train, taxi, etc.. eating delicious street food, sightseeing, clubbing, enjoying rides, and screaming our hearts out) at Imagica and many more!!”

3. Digital and Mural Art Rtr. Sadhwika unleashed her inner artist again and she has outdone herself with a new form of art!

a. She said, “I used my go to app, PicsArt for making it, I haven't used any application specifically designed for digital art, it was a free hand making. It being my frst try, I'm definitely looking forward to working on applications designed for digital art.”

b. She said, “This is a mural art on canvas, size 4×6 inches, made with clay. It's an abstract of dancing Shiva with his trishul, the leather around his waist, the moon on his hair lock and the snake on his left arm. The grey representing the Ash in the background with the gold highlighting his supremacy.”
